Having traveled across Europe and having stayed in quite a few hotels, I was extremely impressed by the extremely poor customer service a five-star venue like this had to offer. I and my wife were invited for a wedding (she was to be the bridesmaid) and we had requested my suit and my wife's dress to be ironed, only to find that my shirt and the dress had been stained by the laundry service. After complaining, we were promised that it was going to be fixed by the next day (the wedding day!). The day after the Housekeeping Manager knocked at our door and showed us that the dress was now also burnt on a very visible spot and of course said that the burn was already there and that that part of the dress wasn't touched (strangely also the plastic bag covering the dress was burnt and melted) – because of course, a bridesmaid doesn't double-check her dress beforehand… Anyway, they were also unable to remove the stain from my shirt and offered me a replacement shirt (which was oversized, but I had to make do since the wedding was about to start). My wife ended up borrowing a dress from the bride (which was luckily of the right colour!) and due to all these delays we had to get a quite expensive taxi to get to the ceremony venue.
Ironically, this doesn't end here: the wedding reception and dinner were taking place in the same hotel we were staying, so right after the ceremony we went back to the hotel for the drinks reception, and a waitress dropped a tray and spilled a glass of wine on my wife's dress and shoes – the waitress didn't even bother apologising. Also, throughout the dinner we were subjected to frowns and grumbles from the staff every time we requested anything… I think they wanted us to feel guilty for making them work so hard…
Anyway, at the checkout we were also charged for the laundry service (!) at which point I had to ask for the manager.
The location was beautiful, and the venue was also gorgeous.
