Central location, old style room, not a standard "out of the box" hotel |

The Erasmus was comfortable, clean, and very well located. The staff helped me with everything I needed, and the breakfasts were very good. I would certainly stay here again, and would recommend it to my friends. I was there during a severe cold snap, and the building was drafty. The heaters kept my room warm, however. My only real difficulty was with the tub in the bathroom, which was situated so that showers were hard to manage. |

Stayed before, returned to a quaint and quirky building. Love it. Exellent location. Wonderful romantic atmosphere. No parking. 10 euro a night adjacent public car park 150m, Sint Micheals. Should be subsidised by hotel. |

It was very close to the historic centre so it was easy to walk to all shops, restaurants & places of interest. Great breakfasts with plenty of choice. The building is very interesting and has a lot of potential. The hotel appeared visually cold and unwelcoming - they need to change the lighting (or lamp shades) to make the hotel seem more warm and inviting both in the main areas (especially the lounge) and in the rooms, at this time of the year (November) it seems very dim and dingy. Also they do not put on the two lights outside the hotels main door (which is always locked) so when you come back to the hotel at night you are fumbling to unlock the door in the dark. |

The location. It is easy to access the central area of the city without negotiating the busy traffic and the street itself is fairly quiet. We disliked most things about this hotel. Our room was grubby, especially the blankets and the carpet. There was black mould on the bathroom tiles and the shower slide was broken. The breakfast was very poor. Except for boiled eggs, there was no hot food. The breads were the worst kind of tasteless supermarket bakery. The coffee came out of a push button machine. There was no breakfast room service at all and generally we found the hotel was very offhand and unwelcoming. This was all so unlike our other experiences in European hotels that we were very shocked. |

Not very much It is seedy, run down and the beds were desperately uncomfortable.A truly horrible experience. The descriptions were of a classic, old Belgium house converted to hotel which if somewhat quirky kept character; not true. |

Welcoming STAFF,very helpful, interesting old building with lots of character, centrally located, good breakfast. Plastic sheet on the bed, poor electrics, we were in an attic room and the furniture could have been better |

The hotel is situated in the heart of Ghent in an antique building that reflects the character of the city. The rooms aren't really "state-of-the-art". The bed was too short, the TV too small and the shower hose too short. |

It was very pleasant - like living in an antique emporium. In common with many hotels they fail to serve a proper cup of tea at breakfast. Black tea should be made with freshly boiling water in a teapot not with hot water in a cup (the amount of water in a cup is far too little for the amount of tea-leaves in a tea bag). |

The hotel was nice and quiet, with a lovely ambience. You have to pay attention and not to let the windows open at night (mosquitos), but I had no problem. |

A lovely quirky small hotel with original features in a great location for the historic centre. Excellent helpful staff. Good continental breakfast. No lift so not suitable if mobility limited. Lighting in the bedroom was a little dim. |

Well maintained historic building close to Ghent city centre Room has an unusual smell and was located at the back of the hotel with the window overlooking the neighbouring structure. Recommendation to stay would be subject to the room booked. |

The house itself is worth staying in: it's a merchant's house, spilt into hotel rooms but otherwise unmodernised. Naturally there were no lifts... |

Very charming room and ambience was lovely. Staff very friendly and helpful. Location is excellent for exploring the city. Weather was hot, so the room was hot and only one window had screen so only one window could be opened. Road was noisy. Would have benefited from having a fan. Breakfast room has too much furniture, would benefit from fewer tables that were cleaned more frequently. |

A beautiful room full of character, very close to the historic pedestrianised centre. Comfortable beds. Quiet, even though we were there during the Ghent Festival. The festival was really good fun and Ghent is a great small city. We couldn't get into the garden. Towels a bit small. |

Fantastic location and a friendly welcome. Magical room too with wooden beams and very comfortable bed. Large room. Motorcyclists read this: Parking for cars was close but Ghent doesn't let bikers use the garages. Park about 500 metres away on the square, next to the guard hut and they'll watch your bike for free. Car park number 9. Took me an hour to find this out. |

I liked the price and the excellent location on the edge of the historic city center. The room was quiet and comfortable and the breakfast was good. I had one of the rooms that looked directly into a solid stone wall about 3 feet away, but I knew that was possible from reading the hotel reviews before I booked. I think the wall actually blocked any city noise. The furnishings were well-worn (hard to tell if the carpet was dirty or just very worn; however, although the towels looked worn they were clean and quite absorbent). The temperature setting for the hot water was turned down so that the water was not truly hot - just very warm. There was no shower, only a bathtub, and I tried to take a bath but due to the water temperature it was not pleasant. |

Hotel has a lot of character ,and the rooms have been modernised as much as is possible within the limitations of a beautiful 17th century building. Very central to all the beautiful sites/restaurants/canals of Ghent, but in a quiet area. Very clean. Breakfast choice /standard excellent. Staff helpful and welcoming. No lift ( limitations of a 17th century building ) so some rooms are reached by thirty+ stairs, therefore the hotel is not suitable for those who find stairs difficult. |
