Basically I found the staff friendly and helpful. The price was fair I suppose, for the room that is. The breakfast however was overpriced!!

A great atmosphere being a medieval monastery. The room was large with high ceilings. Had everything needed. The breakfast seemed rather expensive so we did not eat there.

Clean & tidy location. I thought it was over stated in the advert compared to the actual lodging.

A guest house with personality. Good shower, small room but clean and tidy. Very good location. Unfriendly staff that rather chat on the phone than help customers. She just completely spoilt my stay in this hotel. A bit on the expensive side for non en-suite rooms for solo traveller.

Very enjoyable night at the hotel. The staff were very helpful upon my arrival and advised me on what to see in the city. I thought the breakfast seemed overpriced so I chose not to have it.

The uniqueness of the hotel. It was like staying in a monastery! Located a short walk from all the sights and not far from the station. Very friendly and helpful staff. The guest rooms are good for budget travellers. Creaky floorboards in the room next door!

Ever helpful reception staff, lovely breakfast room and food, sense of history everywhere. Small room, with no mod cons, but comforting. The internet went down. With the lack of tv and telephone, I felt very cut off from the outside world - but that is not necessarily a bad thing. We didn't get the double rooms we booked, and were given single rooms instead. But they were a very good price.

This hotel is a former church and monastery, which gives a very special ambiance. Everything is clean and renovated. If you have to stay in Ghent for a business trip, or student conference, it is the perfect choice. They have also have meeting rooms or can organise events. There is free wifi, and in the bar you can connect even with a wire. Little pricey, but the breakfast (for 15 euro extra) is great. Please, replace those old brown very dusty blankets with a regular blanket like in a real hotel. Whilst sleeping, they slide on the ground and you wake up cause you have cold. Those brown blankets are really a hell for people with asthma and sensitive for dust. Please remove those old brown blankets. This will be a reason to not come back in the future or at least check firstly if they still use those blankets.

Impressive building (used to be a monastery), good location, 10 minutes away from the Graslei and central Ghent. The room and the facilities were better than I expected for the price. Squeaky floors! I could hear people walking around their rooms and the corridors all the time.

Central location and closeness to Pat Hand Conference center, where my conference was held. It was also interesting to see how old Monsaterium (first building dated 1278) was converted to hotel. Having tea/coffee facility in the corridor was very helpful Rooms have bad sound isolation - every time person walks at corridor you may be awaked and that happened quite often as showers are in the corridor and wc - even half floor downstairs. Furniture is obsolete. Blanket - for summertime, Breakfast - expensive.

Everything was good, nice location, room with bathroom, clean and smooth. Breakfast is a way too expensive, and it was a bit chilly during night because the heating was turned off.

It was close to the city center, on the way between city center and Hotel you find very nice little stores and cafes. It was very close to the University , so that i could sleep a little longer before the presentations begann...This mistical atmosphere, dark and old, was very interesting...The staff was very friendly und helped me also in difficult situations(my lugagge was delayed, but i got toothbrush and paste!!!, very nice!) You can hear very good what your neighboor does. The walls are too thin...

This certainly is a characterful hotel and even though my single room was formerly a monk's cell it wasn't as austere as I'd expected. A major plus was the complimentary tea and coffee facility in the hallway and the freebie WiFi was spot-on. Friendly helpful front of house staff and ideal central location a short walk into the Medieval city and close to the #1 tram line. Breakfast sounds a bit pricey especially given that the room rate was excellent value plus you had to book it the night before and so I gave that a miss.

“The Receptionist was always extremely friendly and helpful. The breakfast facilities and food selection was very good. The 'suite' facilities were excellent - very spacious, clean, comfortable. The location was perfect, the surroundings were quiet at night, and it was a leisurely 10 minute stroll to the centre of the old city, and no matter which route you took the scenery was always pleasant. Ghent is a great city to visit, and the 'locals' are very friendly :-)” Liam, Dublin 16 |
