It is an interesting and individual building with plenty of character, unlike hotels belonging to chains. Good value for central Gent; I would stay there again. |

Authenticity. Good location. Very close to the historic centre of Ghent. Perfect for the solo traveller. Warm and freindly greeting at the reception. It is an old building that has been kept ell maintained however it is not soundproof. If you are sensitive to noise then you should stay in a modern building. But this is part of the charm of Guesthouse PoortAckere. |

The atmosphere was the best. It is really close to the city centre. More advertised that no bathroom was in the room and the taxi drivers know the place as monastery PoortAckere, not as Guesthouse. |

Excellent customer service and a creative way of using the space, but unless the rooms are repainted, the furniture mended and the noisy plumbing sorted out, there should be a reduced rate hotel for the budget rooms. Noisy plumbing, no toilet on 1st floor, had to go a long way and share one toilet. |

good atmosphere, special surroundings, nice and easygoing friendly staff, anonymous and easygoing atmosphere for me as guest. Positive was that the showers and toilets were never occupied and one didnt have to wait. Good comfortable sleep, matrass was good, no noise in the night from outside. Showers and toilets on floor, shower was still ok, but toilet was so far away (on a different floor!) and only one toilet for a long floor. Several times I requested something at the reception (a second pillow, and a bottle of water), which the receptionist nicely responded to with "yes, sure, we will bring it to your room then", but it never was brought to me anymore! Thus, I gave up requesting. |

The building is very cool; I loved the environment outsideof the rooms. The room was sparse; the bed was not comfortable and it was loud and bright sporadically throughout the night. Also bad mosquito problems. |

Its great staying in a converted monastery, the shower, the room and the staff. Its close to centre!I will stay again. The mosquitos came during the night (but the Night porter lent the machine)only then could I sleep (allergic to mosquitos). There was a party it was a horrible racket til 4am (they kindly took 20% of the bill) |
