Ghent River Hotel    

Location was the most striking aspect. Perfect.

great location, large clean rooms, ours did not face the river it faced an inner courtyard that was nice and quiet.

breakfast was extra and at £20 each seemed expensive, especially as there were plenty of cafes nearby. Check in wasn't until 4pm but there was a secure luggage room.

No hot water for two nights in a row, with no clear reason why. 9 euro to use the sauna is excessive, fitness room not well equiped. Rooms old. Service non existing. Do not base choosing this hotel on the picture on the net...it is very deceiving! Was glad to book out early, should have checked out in the first 30 min.

Heating was either too warm or too cold.

NO ground water sewer in the bathroom, that provoked flooded floor when showering - also because the shower had no curtain.... Wooden parts of the bathroom furniture attacked by water at floor level and near lavabo.

The location is very good. They have clean rooms and comfortable.

The room had a cigarette smell, but the staff allowed to change so all was well.

We had a room on the top floor: During the whole night this whole floor was very noisy due to a loud heating machine. Do not accept a room on the 3rd floor!

good location, fabulous breakfast

Location is ideal for visiting the old city of Ghent,room space and breakfast room. Good car parking is available nearby.

we could not check in until 16.00 hrs although the hotel was far from full. the hotel appears more functional than customer friendly.

wonderful room, great staff, superb location

It was perfectly located for what we were looking for, lovely room and lovely staff. Everything is pretty much on your doorstep and Ghent is a rather small city. I would definitely stay there again.

It is close to the center, nice rooms overlooking the canal. Good free internet connection.

The breakfast is poor quality ingredients. The reception is not smiling. Expensive EUR 20 / person breakfast. There is little parking place.

We had a very comfortable room facing the river. The bedroom has a good space and facilities. The restroom is modern, clean and the water was always hot, which was perfect, considering it was snowing outside. That hotel is situated closer to pretty much every historical attraction, so we could access it at every moment. Even with a big corporate meeting happening at the hotel installations, the service was very nice. I would take more time at Ghent River Hotel if I knew it was that good.

good location in city centre, but no parking, there is an underground car park nearby at a cost of 10 euros a day

Nice place with hardwood floors; great shower, nice robes, etc. Canal view was nice!

Location was excellent, also the atmosphere of the building was very nice.

The temperature in my room was 31 degrees. When I complained at the reception, the lady told me to solve it myself: "just open the window".

General ambience and location

Lack of soundproofing in the room. We were able to hear every shower/tap/toilet flush from the room above ours (no. 14) and every conversation in the corridor outside our door. Oversoft matress was not comfortable

The location, excellent for sight seeing good restaurants etc

The lighting in the rooms was not very good and being December it was very dark in the corners when trying to find things! It was very easy to hear the people in the next room, but this was not a problem for us and it did not spoil our visit

Very pleasant, convenient hotel right in center, near Vrijdagsmarkt. Good connection to tram. Quiet room, good breakfast with large choice of different food. Free and quick wifi.

If you want to have a quiet sleep this hotel is not for you. It's a pity, because hotel is new, modern, nice room, excellent breakfast but unfortunately due to some building mistakes or use of inappropriate materials you can clearly hear what is happening in other guest rooms. First night we experience an oversea phone call that start at 3:00 and last more that 1 hours, second night was the turn of a couple making love (luckily experience last only 7 min) So if you really want to sleep you better choose alternative solution.

Location of thehotel was excellent

When we arrived we were not given the twin rooms I had requested through booking.com - the receptionist looked uninterested and said she knew nothing about it and the cleaning team had gone home., After insisting we needed twin rooms we were given rather shabby carpeted rooms that did not look like the executive ones I had booked and paid for although the receptionist said they were executive rooms. There was a double bed and a small uncomfortable single bed in each room that we were given. When I got home I looked at the hotel website again and it says that their executive rooms are wooden floored and their standard rooms have carpet - the pictures also reflected what rooms we had been given. So not only did I not get what I paid for but the receptionist lied to us saying that it was an executive room.
