Great staff! I had arrived hours earlier than expected, they were nice enough to let us stay in the lobby and wait while they prepared our room earlier way than they were supposed. Staff was really nice and helpful. Right in the center if everything!
Wifi was spotty. Breakfast was a little over priced. Wish there were more amenities in the bathroom (soap, shampoo etc) but I'm just nitpicking
We booked a large double room and requested an extra bed for our 6 year old son. What we got was a small double room with a double bed and were told that we would all have to share a bed as they didn't have any foldaway childrens camp beds. After half an hour they found a broken travel cot for a baby - our son is 6 years old and 130cm tall, he was 30cms taller than the cot - so that was never going to work especially as it was broken at one end and semi collapsed! We asked the staff to speak to partner hotels to see if they could locate a more suitable room or a travel bed for our son that could be borrowed for the night, we waited ages and eventually called around ourselves and found a suitable room in a lovely hotel elsewhere. As we departed, we were incredibly annoyed and insulted when they suggested that we pay for the room! Attention to bookings, staff training and customer service needs to be worked on!
Downtown, great location
Positioning of the hotel and parking are superb for the center of Ghent. Friendly staff. Clean rooms. Iron available at reception.
Wi-fi not too hot!
location is very good.
cold water in the shower, had to call reception, and after 30 minutes i had a sort of warm water. building is very cold.
The staff was very nice and helpful and the breakfast good.
The light in the room was poor, and the beam directly next to the bed was distressing. It made reading in bed impossible and I was concerned that I might bump my head if I got up over night. There were only two hangers in the closet and when we asked for more, were given some that could not be hung up. There was no drawer space and the locastion of the breakfast room was weird.
breakfast: window didn't shut drain in shower clogged up not very spik & span only 1 person at reception. slow service
Location really great, parking available with docket from hotel and the price the hotel charged was fair. Breakfast choice wonderful, and with a great looking hotel and good service it did not disappoint us. Shower hot and powerful, rooms clean and quiet.
The bathroom was clean.
The room was too small.
Prices : bottle of water (large) in bar: 6 euro. No water in room or mini bar. Our room was in buidling situated at rear of hotel- across courtyard. Lift broken -after waiting 5 mins- asked passing member of staff who said oh yes that broke a few hours ago, someone should be along soon- climbed 3 flights to room. Decor of reception area, stairs etc - in need of clean and re decoration. Bathroom also in need of good clean and re decoration- smell from drains. Location wonderful- straight onto canal and historic centre
The old hotel has charm, comfort, and excellent location. We loved Ghent, the immediate surroundings, the walks possible.
The ad picture is misleading. It is not in a green area with trees. We were not in the old hotel to stay, but aside from one thing the room was fine-- the toilet smelled, there was no fan, and our asking to do something about the urine odor did not solve the smell.
location of hotel close to everything great view of castle from front door
Great place to stay. Great location. Extremely comfortable beds and a very good breakfast.
location, cleanliness, staff
the quaint picture on the website is only the annex of a 4 story hotel on a Major Street with two tram lines. I thought I was booking the quaint version with breakfast, workout and sauna facilities. But we got a room on a very noisy street. We are seniors and our room required taking the lift to the second floor then carrying our suitcases down a very narrow-width, semi-curved set of stairs to our room. No luggage service was offered. Three star hotels now seem to offer beds that are little more than a low platform with a thin mattress. Our fellow senior citizens might find these not only hard on backs but difficult to get out of in the morning.
All facilities are provided. The hotel is near the center which makes it a excellent location to stay for sightseeing. Everything is at walking distance. Staff were very helpful and friendly.
Personally I think the beds need to be replaced with new ones. Next time I will book a room with a shower. The bath has seen its better days.
Excellent location, lovely breakfast, lovely city.
We stayed in one of the annexe rooms and the bathroom had a bit of a odd smell about it.
not enough parking on site, but good park location nearby black mold on shower head load drunks starting at 12 PM to 2 AM delivery noises starting at 5AM bathroom heater noises all night overpriced breakfast buffet - not partaken
Poor simple aids on steps and slopes like handrails. Not a fan of buffet breakfasts.
We enjoyed our stay. The location was spot on and the hotel was nice and clean. Parking on site and helpful staff.
Everything was ok.
This is a historical building. As such, the location is great. It is very close to a tram stop, and all of Ghent is walkable. It's close to a scenic canal, and restaurants.
Because of being historical, there are lots of stairs, that are narrow. This is not a facility for anyone with mobility limitations.
Great location Excellent breakfast
Room and bathroom a bit small
Great location and wonderful building. Amazing view of the castle and roof tops of other buildings. Friendly and helpful staff.
Top floor room on front of hotel. Very noisy at night until early hours of the morning. Room and bed small. Smelt of drains. Lots of work men around doing building jobs.
Very well priced hotel in the city center near to main attractions. Liked very much their cosy bads. Regular WiFi is also good - I was able to watch my football team match in streaming.
I had a room which outlooked the street and it's preatty noise with opened windows. I woke up around 5AM with the first passing tram. I may have to have had more beers the night before.
Location Parking available
Bathrooms are dated Could do with another pillow
Relaxed hotel with a nice comfortable room
parking a little awkward
