Golden Tulip De' Medici  

Nice location on canal with a 10-minute walk to the main market area. We had to catch a very early train. The staff made sure to wake us, have a taxi waiting, and sent us off with a very nice breakfast-to-go.

We arrived before our room was ready. The luggage hold area did not seem secure.

Very helpful staff, easy to drive and park, good breakfast choice.

The location was perfect. Everything is in walking distance from the hotel.

We originally booked for 3 nights in another hotel (that shall remain nameless) that turned out to be truly awful, so we needed quickly to seek out another hotel in Bruges for the final 2 nights of the 3. The Golden Tulip was selected against a range of requirements and, although it seemed to meet all of these from its on-line presence, after our first experience we were not entirely confident and had some trepidation in undertaking the move. It was a massive relief - and pleasure - to find that the Golden Tulip not only lived up to requirements but exceeded them. Our room was spacious and comfortable, with excellent facilities. It was also good value at a mere 20 euros per night more than the awful hotel that we had first booked. We will stay there again, and happily recommend others so to do.

Staff were very friendly and helpful, location quiet but central. Plenty of food for breakfast and comfortable cosy bar.

Television would not switch off and there was only one music channel.

- Slow check-in (desk under-staffed on a Friday afternoon) - hotel room not completely cleaned (dust-balls and cob-webs on ceiling) - sheets not changed over night - facilities (Jacuzzi, spa) broken the entire weekend - no prior notice. Considering that we booked this hotel specifically for this service, we felt this was a major shortcoming - additional services/items only available at high price: 1) pay-per-view movies overpriced, 2) internet only available at ridiculous rates - granted, this is announced on the website, but this does not justify charging customers for communication services that should be free in the 21st century - no complimentary toiletry (aside from a shampoo dispenser, two pieces of soap, and shower caps). At least slippers would have been advisable, considering the somewhat unsanitary carpeting.

The location is close to the markt and to the city center. There is a bus stop at 150 mts from the hotel with direct connections to the train station. The breakfast is nice and with many choices. Also the prices in the restaurant and room service were quite ok

The smell inside the room was intense and not really nice. Also when we arrived and we are asking some questions (location and public transport connections) in the reception the staff person stated that "I am not from Brugge so I am not the best person to answer that"

Location great. We had a room overlooking the canal. Buffet breakfast was very varied and good quality. Good clean hotel.

Some staff at desk and in restaurant not very friendly - made us feel not welcome.

The hotel is about 15 minutes NE of the Market Square and the restaurants/pubs and shops are mostly on the other side of the square. The hotel is comfortable and, because of its location, quiet. If you are a non-smoker don't forget to ask for a non-smoking room, and also ask if you can get a canal view otherwise you will probably be overlooking the car park and some offices. The car park is 15 Euros per night.
