This is an excellent hotel with a wonderful view over the Ypres plain from the terrace and some bedrooms. The staff are pleasant and welcoming. Management is effective and helpful, we had a problem with our room which was sorted out within five minutes. This was our 4th or 5th visit and I'm sure that we'll go again.
A top class welcoming hotel in a quiet location with stunning views. Lovely spacious room with comfortable bed. Friendly and efficient staff. Ample car parking space. Excellent restaurant. Perfect for a romantic evening. Would certainly recommend and hope to return again.
Chose this hotel online, for a short break and a special treat for my fiancés birthday. The hotel is set on a hill with woodlands to the front and beautiful views across the Belgian countryside from the rear. Was greeted by a lovely lady (sorry, didn't get your name) that gave us a tour of the hotel and restaurants, she was charming and friendly. The staff during our stay were absolutely brilliant and nothing was too much trouble for them. Enjoyed a couple of glasses of local Hommel Beir (if you like beer, you really must try it!!) and some fabulous red wine on the terrace on our arrival, served by Ibrahim, who tended to us perfectly, not just then but at breakfast each morning, he truly is a star!! Our room was immaculately clean and well appointed, overlooking the woodlands to the front of the hotel which was quiet and so pretty. Unfortunately we didn't book the restaurant for dinner during our stay, which we now wish we had, as the menu and restaurant looked fabulous (we will next time we return). Overall, the hotel is perfectly located. Our stay was magical and charming and we would recommend to anyone who want a relaxed time away. Thanks so much to all the staff and management.
Nothing At All
Everything. Staff, location, food & wine was excellent. The room was perfect and the view out to the forest was superb. Highly recommend
A beautiful place with lovely views. Tricky to find at first but worth the hill climb. Setting very pretty. Hotel very nice with welcoming helpful staff.
Friendly & Helpfull Staff Hotel Setting
Room smaller then other hotels with the same standard and starting to look tired
Comfort and the beautiful views.
A request for an early breakfast, needed because of a very important early engagement, was not relayed to the member of staff who needed to know. She was unfortunately quite put out by our early arrival for breakfast.
staff, breakfast, location, lounge/bar area, restaurant. The hotel had a feeling of quality.
our twin room was a bit cramped. ok for a short break but the beds had to be moved to get to the sideboard/wardrobe. Otherwise no complaints
Wonderful views. Very helpful staff. Excellent food. Cannot fault anything about our stay.
welcome views food atmosphere
size of bedrooms
The comfortable room and lovely view over the Flanders fields.
Finding the hostellerie is exceedingly difficult with no signs to help. Suggest getting a very good local map before setting out. Sat nav was not helpful.
Poor value for money and very noisy in most expensive rooms. Hotel very austere and dated.
Expensive and bad restaurant - whoever heard of serving half a sole with two slices of potato on half the plate as a meal.
Breath taking all round. Simple bit so effective. Ticked all of our boxes. Can't wait to recommend it to friends & family
That we had to leave
All very good.
Construction works and I would be concerned the soundproofing will not be good enough for the new upstairs rooms.
The hotel is very comfortable with stunning views across Flanders Fields. The staff were very helpful and the hotel was in a perfect location for exploring the history of WW1.
Access to the hotel was closed for a cycle race and we could not get up the drive until 5.30. If we had known we would have changed our plans to arrive later. An email would have been helpful.
The position of the hotel was perfect. The breakfast room and dining room were a delight. The food , beautifully presented and delicious. The staff charming and helpful a very enjoyable hotel destination
Location, scenery, restaurant & bar
A little difficult to find, but worth the effort
Wow!! Fantastic views for miles. Secluded location and very romantic setting. We went over specifically for rememberance day in Ypres. Friendly staff. Comfy beds. Would definitely go back.
Warm Welcome and the breakfasts.
Very friendly hotel, great food although restaurant is not cheap. The breakfast was included and offered a great spread.
Room was small and did not have air conditioning.
Very outstanding location! Our room was with fantastic valley view. Very clean. Nice breakfast. The waiter in the breakfast room. Wireless perfect! Recommendation!
The Gourmet restaurant offers only food for people which are interested in this level of food. Very small a la card offer. The restaurant is also not flexible to replace a dish in the case you don't like a part of the menu....
Location and views
Out dated, old and deteriorating (doors, handles, fixtures & fittings). Low quality breakfast foods (cheap budget foods). Also, we were locked in our bedroom for 2 hours because the locking mechanism on the door has broken. And my wife was two hours late for work because of it. The owners were friendly about the incident but offered not discount or compensation at all. When i suggested that the incident could have been very dangerous if it had happened to an old person (there was no number for reception on the room telephone either), one of the owners even stated that the fire brigade had recommended that if/when there is a fire that people should stay in their room. It had not crossed her mind that te fire could have been in the room. Nice enough people but without updating the whole thing (& their attitudes to service) they are running a dying business.
