Large room comfortable bed good breakfast helpful staff
Shower over bath
I was booked in the guest house of the hotel on the other side of the street. I felt uncomfortable because no reception or personal in the guest house. I could not really lock my room door during the night and everybody from outside could enter the guest house. Also the minibar prices where much to high by my experiences.
The hotel is old, but nice and at a good location. Staff was also polite and helpful.
The location was great, room was clean, friendly staff, wi-fi worked fine. There was a cattle and a mini bar in the room which was great for a first coffee in the morning.
I was staying in the separate bilding from the main hotel. The room was extremely dark even if the sun was shining outside I still had to turn on lights to be able to see anything. It also rained quite a few times, so if I wanted to have breakfast for instance, I would have to face the rain, go down the street to have my coffee. Fortunately there was a cattle in the room.
they had a hidden city charge, the hotel had a smell of raw sourage from work going on even on the forth floor it was there. when i asked them to help me with the translation on the parking machines for my van, they simply pretented not to understand me until i got a bit fed up with them then the girl eventually came out and sorted it. translated
location fantastic and beds were v comfy! Glad there was air con
The breakfast was too expensive and wish we had been reminded thatprice of room had not included breakfast as not sure we would have eaten there if we had known it was 20 euros each
The staff! They were lovely. The hotel is opposite a spar supermarket and 2 doors from a nice BBQ place.
Price of breakfast. We are elsewhere.
location; wi-fi; spacious room and bathroom; the staff; good breakfast;
bed toooo soft ;-)
Room in courtyard was very quiet .the bed very very comfortable .
Very poor lighting in room unable to read due to this. Breakfast expensive so had one elsewhere which was excellent at half the price. A few cobwebs scattered around the ceiling.
The staff at arrival was excellent.
At departure, they wanted to charge me for staying half hour after checkout deadline.
Noisy staircases outside in courtyard
Great location. Great room. Wonderful breakfast.
The staff made us wait until exactly 3pm to check in. We had arrived at 2:10 pm, and it would have been nice if they let us check in then, it wasn't like we were there early in the morning.
Nice and central
convenient location, automatic free wifi
staff highly unprofessional at checkin (although to be fair, it was not a general problem, part of staff was highly qualified); room not perfectly clean; attention to details missing (e.g. if you have a beautiful wheelchair accessible room, why leave the doorstep there - it just ruins the experience)
we had the superior room up the loft which was great plenty of room with velux windows. The bed was a four poster very comfortable and clean. I would recommend the room.
The disadvantages - if you left any of the window open the main door kept to the room would rattle which kept me awake. Also the fan in the bathroom would come on as soon as you flushed the toilet and stay in for a long period which was noisy.
Excellent location, nice room (deluxe room, very large with spabath)friendly and helpful staff
Room on street side was a bit noisy woke up early from some loud sounds from street. Minor problem
We liked the quiet location away from the main hotel, the trendy decor, the tea and coffee making facilities and the shower.
The toilet was part of the open plan bathroom and we would have preferred a door for some privacy!
Location very good
decor, comfort and breakfast. Location was very good too.
that there is an annex building a few door down the road and you are left wondering for your room in the street after check-in with no staff to guide you. Again having to go to another building down the road for breakfast. it felt quite dis-jointed
Check in staff v friendly and helpful..Room was clean, modern design with good quality linens and fittings but bare resin floor made it feel a bit cold. V comfortable beds, excellent location relative to the city centre and it's excellent pubs and albeit somewhat touristy restaurants....fast free Wi-Fi. Good breakfast. Overall for what we paid it was good value and made a very convenient base for a short visit to the city.
Room was in annex ( not sure if this was pointed out when the boking was made ) where some sort of construction work was still going on...builders tools, rolls of carpet, pallets etc in evidence...not really good to see all of this stuff lying around...just made area look a bit scruffy and offputting. Our room had what must be a uniquely Belgian design feature which was a bathroom and toilet that were basically "open" at the top of the wall to the bedroom. ie the wall didn't meet the ceiling..there was a gap of about 500mm.So if you are not already pretty intimate with who you share this room with, you certainly will be after this.!!! The all over resin floor made the room feel cold and looked cheap..As this seemed to be a new building it is difficult to imagine why the room has been designed in this way.
Very comfortable Hotel, brilliantly situated near the centre. Good value for money. Would definitely stay there again.
Contempory decor with very comfortable beds. The breakfast was excellent.
The breakfast buffet was good, especially considering the poor facilities of the hotel.
What an awful experience! In all the hotels I have stayed at, I have never experienced anything like this. The power out during the night also turned off the heating and I ended up being ill and having to waste 2 days of my vacation in bed. Then there was no hot water for two days, we could not get a shower! When the water finally returned, it was completely brown (I have pictures to prove it). No electricity, no light, no heating, no hot water, this is not what I expect from a 4-start hotel!! It was a horrible experience. The reception staff were friendly, but could not help at all and the reception manager was completely absent for the entire time we were there, perhaps she was hiding in an office somewhere? Awful, awful, awful!
I have absolutely nothing positive to say about this hotel.
Don't be mistaken by pictures on the website, charming period building which you can find there is just a facade for very ugly gray blocks where most of the small outdated and questionalbly clean rooms are located. It looks a little bit like a cheap motel in the middle of nowhere yet in the middle of lovely city of Ghent. Rooms are in appalling state... I seriously considered sleeping in my clothes (not having time to arrange a different hotel), bed linnen, towels and all furnitures remember some very old times and the only place they belong is a dump. Me and my friend were so unhappy about the conditions that we decided to cut our stay one (of two) night short and move to another place. And here another unpleasant surprise person at the front desk was extremely unhelpful and incompetent. Anybody who wants to fully enjoy the charm and beauty of Ghent avoid this hotel at all cost!!!
