We spent our New Year's Eve at Hotel Salvators, in Bruges. It was a great experience. The location was perfect, a 5 minute walk to the Markt and 't Zand squares, very close to the shops and restaurants. The room on the first floor was cosy and warm, nice and clean. We loved the "coloured water" shower. The breakfast was very good (never ever say no to the waffles!) and the staff was extremely helpful and polite. Very tasty beer in the bar downstairs at low prices (starting from 2 eur / glass!). And, while the bar closed early on December 31st and January 1st, they were so nice that they left the lounge open until late at night, together with coffee and wine for the guests. Will definitely stay there again if we ever return to Bruges.

Good friendly service, clean room and a central location. Room design didn't really work for us - eg automatic lights in the bathroom seem like a good idea until you need to go to the bathroom at 4:00 am without waking your partner... Lighting in general wasn't bright enough. No kettle or iron.

I loved the lounge and bar areas with the lovely big fire and the amusingly grumpy cat. The room was comfortable and had some nice features like the mini aquarium and the chess table. There were some English channels on the TV and the bathroom was small but well maintained. Beds were lovely and comfy and it was nice and warm too. Perfect for a winter break and so central that popping in and out of the rain and cold was easy. The staff were lovely and helpful and serve a nice hot chocolate and a good range of food at breakfast. I'd stay again for sure :-) Tea and coffee in the room would have been nice.

Nice little hotel, perfectly positioned in central Bruges. An easy walk from the train station and a similar walk to the Markt. Attention has been taken to ensure that this fairly basic hotel has been given a personality with some nice touches - there was an aquarium in our room along with a Bose Surround Sound System hooked up to the TV and CD/Radio. Breakfast was a good continental spread with eggs and waffles cooked to order. Served 8-10am, so you don't have to be up at the crack of dawn to enjoy it. Staff really friendly - orientated us when we arrived and also assisted with making dinner reservations. Only a couple of minor negatives - the room (5) was baking hot so that we had to have the fan on and windows open to be at a comfortable temperature. Not a huge issue but the noise (from either) did make it difficult to sleep. The bathroom was also a little scrappy - plain mdf shelf and peeling wallpaper. Although fully functional, so only really a cosmetic drawback.

Right in the centre of Bruges. You can't park, but very close is an underground car park (Zilverstraat) which is about 3 minutes walk away. Staff are very helpful , polite and friendly. My room (No 1) was a bit quirky with fish everywhere but it was clean and noise-free. Beer in the bar is only 2€ a large glass. Ask for the 'waffles' at breakfast - I went for 'eggs' but then the waffles looked very appetising. Great place!

We particularly liked the quirkiness of our room, it had everything we required and a few unexpected items like the coffee maker and aquarium. Lack of a lift, trivial in the scheme of things!

Excellent staff. Very friendly and helpful. Impeccable English. Very good breakfast. One of the best showers I have used. Room was a bit small with a lack of storage space, but fairly typical of city hotels.

Great hotel, right in the centre of town, but also very quiet. On arrival, we had a choice of room - hard choice, both were great, and the room we chose was extremely comfortable with a good bed and pillows. The staff were very friendly and knowledgable. We also used the purpose-built sauna/jacuzzi, which was a great way to end our day out and very good value indeed. There is a lovely lounge with an open fire to relax in too. Breakfast also good and plentiful - eggs or waffles to order. Finally, having the pleasure of Speedy the cat's company was lots of fun! He's a real character! The hotel is perfect for someone looking for individual style and good value. We'll be going back!

The roaring fire in the lounge was fantastic. As the bar closed early for New Years Eve, the staff left out bottles of wine for the guests. A really nice gesture. Breakfast was very nice too.

This is a proper hotel. Every room's different. We stayed in the Annex which is 5 metres across the road and it was lovely. Breakfast was relaxed with a good selelction of breads and meats/cheeses etc. The friendly staff would also make scrambled eggs or waffles. Stay here!

The hotel was very central- perfect for exploring Bruge. We stayed in room 42 which was like having our own studio apartment. The decor was a little bit dated but the room was clean and very comfortable. The breakfast room was lovely and cosy and the service was excellent.

The hotel was great and located only 50 metres from the main shopping street. Very friendly staff plus a cat called "Speedy" who always sat by the log fire in the lounge. We stayed in room 6; which had two levels. The room even had a fish tank! Great breakfast choice included waffles; omlettes along with continental food.

delicious breakfast (w/ eggs & waffles), friendly cat by the fireplace. Artsy, clean, great location for the 1 or 2 day walking around the town visit. Fishtank in wall of room was pleasant diversion. Construction noise across the street,
