Huis ´T Schaep was beautiful. It was like staying in a place preserved in time, or an amazing museum, quiet comfortable cozy and clean. The rooms are huge. The food was great, and the entire place is in a great location, close to everything going on in Bruges. And most of all the staff were very nice and went out of their way to make sure our stay was great. I would suggest it to anyone. None.

The care takers of Huis T'Schaep made sure that all of our needs were met. Each morning over the delicious breakfast, he enquired about our itinerary and made suggestions. All of his recommendations were incredible! The rooms were fabulous and the food was great. They had full size bath room products and a very powerful hair dryer. The home is gorgeous and they have done an excellent job with restoration The towels could be nicer, but really there is nothing to complain about.

The house offers excellent, individual service! The host knows all the great little restaurants and shops you always miss when youre in a city for the first time. The rooms are very spacious and the amenities are in an excellent state. This hotel definetly knows what hospitality is!

The small hotel 't Schaep" is a typical old Flemish house, which used to belong to a local artist. The manager of the hotel showed us the hotel as a guide personally and it was very interesting. Big breakfast, which is served personally was like at a restaurant.

I travel a real lot. But this hotel is definitely one of the best I've ever stayed at. Carefully conserved historical atmosphere is stunning. Great rooms with unique decor. Marvellous service. Awesome breakfasts. Location is excellent - only 5 minutes from Markt. We (together with friends) felt like medieval lords resting at their castles. I really loved this hotel and its staff. I love Brugges, I've been there many times, and now I know the place where I would like to stay when I come back again. And yes, the price is really low for this!

It felt like being in a personal space as opposed to the rather clinical atmosphere of most hotels. The breakfast was delicious and accompanied by an informative and helpful guide to the city and its attractions.

The hosts were friendly, the room was beautiful, and the breakfasts were extraordinary. It was also located in a very quiet neighborhood. The lighting in the rooms, while plentiful, was not always adequate.

From the moment we walked through the door we felt very much at home. We stayed in the Rembrandt suite which was more like a one-bedroom apartment as it was so large with a separate sitting room and large bathroom. The property has been beautifully restored to a very high standard with all of the comforts you will need. The location is perfect for access to all of the attractions that Bruges has to offer. There are a choice of car parks nearby, all at the same very reasonable price of less than 9 euros per day, which is very cheap compared to other European cities. Breakfast is thoughtfully prepared and served with a genuine desire to please the customer. In fact we loved the place so much we rebooked to come back in December.

Huis t'Shaep is an outstanding place to stay. Its ambience as an historical site itself sets it apart, as do the friendliness and attention to detail of its proprietors, John and Rob. We stayed two nights. The breakfasts were excellent (I loved particularly the smoked salmon with scrambled eggs.) The proprietors' recommendations for restaurants were outstanding, as well. I am confident that you could rely on their recommendations. Located near the cathedral and a few short blocks from the main shopping street and a ten minute walk from the main square, you could hardly do better. But let me give you a tip for when you go there: Driving to Huis t'Shaep is not very difficult, if you know the way. Study your city map very carefully. Make certain to turn right before the cathedral. Then you can drop your luggage at the hotel efficiently. John or Rob will come out to help you. But Bruges is not a city for cars. After you drop your luggage, let John or Rob show you on the map where you should park. It is not far away in an underground parking lot. Cost was 8 or 9 euros a day. Then you can fully enjoy your stay. If you are arriving on a Sunday, cars are not allowed in Bruges. If on a Saturday in good weather, then the streets will be full of people and it will take some skill to make the few correct turns to get to the B&B. Take your time with the few turns so you do not miss them. They come at you fast even though you are going slow. This is not a problem with the location of Huis t'Shaep; it is just a potential issue with Bruges on a Saturday. Huis t'Shaep is as convenient as you are going to find. One more tip: If you are older and have feet and knees issues like me, take a room on the first floor (second floor for Americans). The best room is on the second floor (the Cocke Suite) but the second flight of stairs is a bit steep and winds. The rooms on the first floor are more than adequate.

What was there not to like, this is a magnificent dwelling. Too many beautiful items to select any one thing to mention. Any one who appreciates quality furnishings and/or antiques would relish a stay here. How any one can allow people into such a beautiful house and do so with grace is beyond comprehension. We appreciated being welcomed so warmly by John who also showed us the house. We had the Coucke Suite which was a large room beautifully furnished and the bathroom was state of the art plumbing with a beautiful original stained glass window by Samuel Coucke. We felt privileged to have stayed in this beautiful B & B. Breakfast was wonderful with John providing beautiful hot rolls and pastries. Absolutely nothing to dislike. We hope to return.

The hotel owner John was outstanding. This was my first bed and breakfast experience. My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Great value, great large room, beautiful furnishings, attentive but not suffocating staff and very convenient location. It's tough looking through all the available hotels in Bruges. Lucky I made the right selection. This hotel however would not be great for kids. Have a great time in Bruges and be sure to try the French food at the little store almost directly behind the hotel on one of the main shopping streets. Something with Paris in the name.

We stayed only 1 night in the Rubens suite and were overwhelmed by it's beauty and huge space. The bed was very comfortable, location was perfect (actually Bruges isn't that big, everything is in a walking distance). The owners gave some very good tips and showed us around the magnificent house. Book lover? The Rubens Suite is filled with books you won't mind some Belgian weather, the art books will keep you occupied. The service at breakfast was more than outstanding. A TV and DVD player in the room don't fit in this room :-)

Very nicely renovated hotel, they paid a lot of attention to all original details. It makes you feel you're living in the 17th century, but of course with all the comforts of the 21st century. Breakfast is also relaxing. They serve fruit first, then yoghurt and finally bread with egg. Fresh orange juice is also served daily. Soft classical music plays in the background, giving you a pleasant start of the day.
