It had a lot of character and charm; the breakfast was very good with lots of choice; and it was handy to parking and the central tourist area.c

Our room was a bit noisy, as it fronted a main street and we could hear the traffic.

The hotel staff were exceptionally helpful when I was making the booking, advising me on the best room to take (which incidentally was cheaper than the one I was going to book!). On arrival, the staff were very welcoming and did everything to ensure that we relaxed straight away. The room was perfect for our needs, the location was ideal and the breakfast room and bar were lovely places to relax at the beginning and end of each day. I would highly recommend this hotel to any visitors to Bruges.

Friendly staff Spacious room Great location

My sister and I stayed at Jan Brito during the last week of March 2012 as a w/e trip before going to Paris. We booked the hotel at the last minute and did not expect much. However, the hotel really exceeded our expectation. The hotel has been renovated well and our stay was very comfortable. The best of all is the breakfast. We are from East Asia and are used to big, wholesome breakfast and, although half expected to see some paltry continental / cold / no meat meal, we were really pleasantly surprised by the breakfast and enjoyed it. Now we understand what the fuss is all about this hotel's breakfast's raving review.

The map that the hotel provides is a bit too small. People with difficulties reading small characters should bring their own map or get a better one from the tourist office.

A quiet and very comfortable hotel which we would recommend to anyone

A great hotel, excellent for exploring Bruges! Stayed in a duplux family room – 2 floors with the double bed in the lower floor, and 2 single beds at the top floor. The room is spacious – at the back of the room is another area where there’s a set of sofa, and a writing desk. Great place to lay out the luggages and the shopping bags, without cluttering the sleeping area. One of the beds at the upper floor faces a reclining window, so you can literally look at the stars when you sleep! The staircase to the upper floor is narrow and steep – great fun for the children but not so for the more matured :) The exposed beams add a lot of character and romance to the room, but need some care so as not to knock your head against it accidentally (despite care, we knocked on it 2 times!) Breakfast is declicious – buffet of both hot and cold breakfast, with fresh juices and a selection of teas. Hotel is well situated to explore Bruges on foot. It is not right at the center so you get peace and quiet, but yet it is only a 5 minutes walk to the heart of Bruges (the Market Place and Brug). Covered parking is about 3 minutes walk from the hotel, at a very reasonable €8.50 per day. Would highly recommend the hotel. In addition to the location, value, comfort is the ‘feel’ of the hotel – romantic, old charm, character etc – which is in sync with the beautiful old town of Bruges.

I would prefer my room to be brighter. The lightings are limited and are usually spot lights, hence limited range.

The staff I kind

What I expect from an hotel is confort and relax when going sleep, well forget about them in this hotel. There are 4 main problems: 1) the rooms are too close to the road, basically we were sleeping on the walkway and we could clearly hear all the cars passing by. 2) we could hear all the noise done by the other guests as well, because there is no insulation at all. 3) the bed itself is crappy, either the mattress it is too old or too soft, could not sleep at all. 4) to get to the room we had to cross the courtyard, so to have breakfast.... This is not what I was expecting from a 4 stars.

The hotel was easy walking distance to everything we wanted to see. It was clean and comfortable. Staff were friendly and helpfully. We had absolutely nothng to complain about.

Great location, good breakfast, good tv in room

Location is fantastic

The front of house staff were excellent and very helpful. The room we had was the smallest in the hotel (Maids Room), but had plenty of space for our one night stay. Loved the fact the tv had an English channel other than news (itv). Lovely continental and hot breakfast. Location was fabulous, right by one of the waterways, 2 mins from Fish Market and 5 mins from main square. Advice: don't park in town, park by main train station and use bus (Park and Ride for free) or taxi (€8/9). The car park in October was €2.50 per day.

Only comment would be the walls were very thin and we were woken early by our neighbours mobile phone alarm (I told my husband off as I thought it was his!).

A hotel with character and comfort in a great location for enjoying Bruges's Old Town. The staff were particularly efficient and friendly. Excellent breakfast.
