This was one of the nicest hotels we have stayed in - the room was excellent with a small balcony overlooking the gardens and the staff could not have been more friendly and welcoming. It was an ideal location for visiting many of the museums and cemetries in the area - a few were within walking distance of the Hotel - it was about 5 minutes drive from the town centre/Menin gate. The meal we had in the restaurant was very good indeed.

It was not my first visit, but I enjoyed it so much I looked no further on my return visit. The staff are friendly and hospitable, with many suggestions regarding the surrounding areas of interest. The rooms are comfortable and quiet; I was on my bike, and was made most welcome. I'll go back without hesitation.

We liked trhe sense of history on the doorstep, the quiet location with lots of parking and the huge bedroom. It was great to be able to wander around the grounds which have so much history attached to them. Although it was a chilly week our bedroom and the restaurant were lovely and warm. The only thing which would have really improved our stay would have been tea and coffee making facilities in our room. And whilst only a minor point, I would have preferred it if the goldfish in reception weren't in a bowl which was completely devoid of any interest or enrichment. Seriously!

Room was very roomy and bed very comfortable. Nice bar/dining room to have a drink and nice meal at reasonable cost. Cost was very good per night. I loved that we were staying right next to the Hooghe crater and in the center of what was a bloody battle during wwi. The restored dugouts and such were great! Location was fantastic. Bathroom was a bit tired and awkward, but was clean. Hallways were very cold and drafty and the locks on the doors were very odd and loud. They buzzed loudly when key put into slot and the doors seemed quite lightweight. No deadbolt on door to ensure privacy and no lock on bathroom door either. Wifi was supposed to be available throughout hotel but unable to get a signal at all the first day and had to take computer to restaurant on second ay to get a signal. I eventually got a very weak signal in the room that came and went. Breakfast hours seem very short from only 0800 to 1000, and was a bit sparse. Pastry was nice though.

Beautiful building in historic grounds. Welcoming staff, good food and beer choice. Ideal for discovering the Ypres Salient especially on bicycles. It is about 3 miles east of Ypres which is rather too far to wander into the town, but no trouble at all on bikes. The Hooge Crater Museum and bar are conveniently next door. I would recommend any one to stay here as our four nights were delightful. The price also includes a very good breakfast.

The hotel is in a great location for exploring the Ypres area (3k from Ypres centre) and has easy access to the Somme area. The rooms are excellent, plenty of space and the beds are wonderful! You can start your day with a good breakfast but please remember that its not a UK breakfast, you're in Belgium so don't expect the full English! The staff speak very good English, plenty of free parking, all in all a very good hotel and well worth staying for more than one night.

All staff were very helpful and pleasant. They even let us look at a couple of rooms before choosing which one we wanted to stay in. The beds were very comfortable. Continental style breakfasts were more than adequate. Evening meals were also very nice. There is a very interesting museum right next door and the centre of Ypres is a five minute drive away. All in all, we had a very comfortble stay and would definately come back.

Situated in a great location for visiting the War Graves and just a couple of minutes from the town of Ypres. The rooms were clean and comfortable Lack of tea and coffee making facilties and very cold corridors. There was also a lack of brochures about local events and places to visit. There was also nothing in the room to tell about hotel facilities and how to use the in room phone or telephone, or menus, etc

We particularly enjoyed its location and we all thoroughly enjoyed our evening meal. The bar has a wealth of local beers and we found the staff knowledgeable and helpful. It was a particularly cold weekend and although the corridors were not heated, our rooms were lovely and warm. Perhaps the water could have been a little warmer in the early evenings when we wanted baths to warm ourselves up after being outside for our battlefields trip. There were six of us in the group and we all commented on how lovely the hotel was. We would all return again and recommend Kasteelhof 'T Hooghe.

An ideal base for visiting WW1 memorials and sites around Ypres, with the Hooghe crater next door acting as an in-house museum. The hotel is has friendly staff, is well-maintained and properly renovated, whilst retaining its 1920s distinctiveness and charm. Tea and coffee making facilities could be provided.

Room 22 was ideal for our four-night stay; it was very large and had a good table for working at. The bathroom was also vast and well appointed. When I stayed here in August, I thought my room (No 31) was excellent, but No 22 was even better. The provision of free WiFi is one of the many reasons why this hotel is ideal for us. The restaurant is good value for money; the staff are courteous, yet unobtrusive; the location is spot-on for touring/research, and the grounds are atmospheric. In my last appraisal I said I would never need look elsewhere for an Ieper/Ypres hotel; this second visit has confirmed that opinion. As long as you have a car, this hotel is perfect.
