The town of Verviers has a proud industrial history of the...
The town of Verviers has a proud industrial history of the wool trade. The early prosperity of this industry is reflected in the architecture of the offices and houses in the older parts of the town with interesting hill terraces of late 19c cut stone buildings. Verviers is serviced by an excellent motorway and rail system and is within an easy twenty minute drive from the famous Spa Francochamps racetrack. There are many museums close to the town to spend the time if the weather excludes one from sightseeing in the hills and forests nearby.

Sort of unattractive town about an 1.5 hour drive outside of Brussels. The surrounding areas are very nice country side , but the town itself is not great. A bit depressing. Apparently it is quite close to the city of Spa (where a formula one car race takes place ) so this might be a reason to stay here.HuguesUnited States of America

The location of the B&B was rural and quiet so we slept very well. Often we stay in very modern, impersonal hotels so it was a pleasure to be in a real B&B where we were treated as actual guests, rather than names on a list. We enjoyed a generous and delicious breakfast every morning and the hosts were welcoming. Overall, it was a wonderful place to stay and we enjoyed it very much.

I have seen better VdValk's but I have seen worse hotels too. Welcome was good, the room clean, bed comfy, the b-fast was good. So it is not a place to avoid but nothing to write home about, either (goes with the city - who goes to Verviers without a really good reason ;) However, the brasserie and restaurants are really good (the local people go there, it is always a sign).

However, what made the experience was the service from Xavier, we were in a urgent situation needing to drop our luggage at the next hotel before getting the train during torrential rain and no taxis available - Xavier without prompting, dropped us off at the hotel then even at the station…super service!!
