Hotel Manhattan  

Excellent location.

No shower or bar.

Ik houd wel van dit soort morsige hotels, maar...

De prijs is te hoog voor zo'n hotel, die zou ongeveer de helft moeten zijn.

The hotel is situated just several minutes of walk from the central square of Brussels. Breakfast was simple but nice.

When I undid my bed I found some hair on my pillow. Also the temperature inside the room was quite low and all of us were cold overnight.

Nothing, I would stay there only if I don't have any other option. I was frozen for the two nights I stayed there.

There is nothing to like!

It was my second stay there. I like that hotel. It is not expensive, however, threre is everything to enjoy with.

They need better internet connection, preferably free WiFi

It was dirty. Not just a wee bit dirty but the kind of state where you were afraid of walking in bare feet across the floor lest you grow an inch or two from the dirt you picked up. Getting to the bed and sitting on it was equally disappointing as it sank wearily to the floor - there went the idea of a supportive platform for sleep and in came the concept of a pillow bed as it wrapped its insubstantial mattress around you. So maybe it'd at least be quiet - compared to being inside a kettle drum maybe but every whispered exchange of voices reverberated across the room. So to breakfast after a rapid shower where the supplied towels bore a passing resemblance to the older style of paper napkins (non absorbent and fragile). The breakfast spread was coffee from stainless steel buckets and breads that seemed to have been sourced from the "additives are good" store replacing wheat with dust and supplying plastic wrapped cheese that may have been more flavoursome with the wrapping left on. Not my greatest night in Brussels which is a pity as I've stayed at some great places in Brussels over the years and recommended them but not this time.

The location was excellent, just 2 minutes walk from Rogier Metro Station which in turn was a 10 minute ride from Brussels Midi Station. The staff were extremely friendly and the hotel was very clean and tidy. There was a superb Bar (Le Cambridge) within 2 mins walk and also the superb Brussels Grill within another 2 minutes.

I think the Manhattan was more or less what I was expecting for the price paid. By this, I mean basic. The TV had no remote and with BBC1 on Channel 43, I was in danger of Repetetive Strain Injury. The Shower Head only produced a Jet Wash but it still woke me up in the morning. The Buffet Breakfast was very limited with bread, cheese, salami, 2 fruit juices, tea and coffee. It would be so easy to add boiled eggs, a cereal or bran and yoghurts at no great cost. The Hotel gave the impression that it was privately owned and in need of a cash injection to raise the level to at least 1*. However, I would stay there again if travelling solo - a situation where good deals are hard to find in a Capital City. I would only recommend The Manhattan to people who fully knew what to expect.

The hotel is situated in a central area and can be reached easily by metro.

The bathroom needs rinnovation. No shower gel and shampoo. Only a bar of soap was available. Used soap bar from previous residents was still there. A bath curtain is required so that water would not be scattered on the floor. Floor mat was only available on the first day. Chrome shower pipe need replacing. Both driking glasses in the bathroom had lip marks with toothpaste. No hair-dryer. On the whole, room was satisfactory - only the bathroom had been very much neglected.

I strongly do not recommend this hotel to anybody

The hotel is just terrible. Worn out,dusty smelly and dirty. I would not sleep in that place again even if it is free of charge. The sheets and the blankets were with holes on them, the towels were around 20 years old. We slept with our clothes on in the bed as we were totally disgust from the room conditions.

The only thing to consider liking about the Hotel Manhattan is if you are on a boys trip it is surrounded by sex shops and strip clubs, which stay open and active to the early hours of the morning.

The initial welcome and continuing lack of communication from anyone at the front reception. We were given three very old, very tired uncomfortable single beds that all needed new mattresses when we requested a double room for a couple. The lighting in the room was totally inadequate, my partner used a torch in order to read a book. There was no remote control for the tv. There was no shower door or curtain in the bathroom, consequently the floor became very wet and slippery. This water ended in the floor of the toilet, very dangerous. The street noise was loud enough to cause broken sleep, waking two heavy sleepers on a number of occasions during the night. The breakfast was pathetic, only bread rolls, butter and jam or salami and cheese, it was far from a continental breakfast. Breakfast area was managed by a grumpy old lady. I would not recommend this Hotel.

Lamperne var defekte, askebægre på gangen, løse dørhåndtag, toilettet lugtede af askebæger, huller I gardinerne, snavset sengetøj, lagnerne kunne ikke dække sengen. Portieren om natten sad og røg lige under skiltet med rygning forbudt.

En période de grand froid le chauffage est tout à fait insuffisant au 8ème étage:la chambre était glaciale

Esta cerca del centro, a 5 o 10 minutos, y es economico. Junto a una calle peatonal llena de tiendas y centros comerciales. El personal muy correcto y amable.

Los colchones eran horribles y no nos hicieron las camas. La decoracion del siglo pasado. El desayuno muy básico.

Pas de savon pour la douche, cuvette de wc salle, peinture et moquette tres vieille et sale, petit déjeuner mediocre...

L'emplacement

Les chambres sont très sales, le mobilier est très ancien et pas entretenu, de mauvaises odeurs dans les couloirs, le petit déjeuner est quasi inexistant (café/thé + jus d'orange en poudre + pain dur ou pain de mie carrefour!!!! rien d'autre, pas de grille pain...)

Rien, ou peut être le déjeuner qui "dépassait" la qualité de l'hotel.

Le personnel, la chambre, la déco... J'ai presque envie de dire: tout... Rapport qualité prix n'y est pas du tout... Un conseille: n'y aller pas.

Zéér oude inrichting, kastdeur sloot niet, koud op de kamer, hele dunne deken, zéér matig ontbijt, geen nooduitgang en brandinstructie. Kamer in doodlopende gang.

Het ontbijt is slechter dan bij mij thuis, ik verwacht bij een hotel op zijn minst lekkere koffie en vers brood. De kamer had maar 1 stopcontact en de tv had geen afstandbediening. De wifi was enkel beschikbaar op de begane grond. De lift was zo slecht dat je daar niet voor je lol in ging staan.
