The hotel is housed in a very beautiful Art Deco building. We were treated like second class citizens possibly because we booked the room with Booking.com(which is cheaper than their own prices). We have booked their superior room. The plumbing was terrible, the worst we've ever experienced. The shower tap was jammed and the basin tap could not turn on, the toilet did not flush and the light bulb was broken. It took two hours for a technician to come. He said we had to change rooms. The first room offered was considerably smaller and nastier than the original one even though the hotel was half empty. It took a lot of persuasion to get a room equivalent to the first one but with satisfactory plumbing. Five years ago the hotel services were much better. It looks and acts tired.

Location is excellent. I have been several time at Metropole, and normally it is a good hotel. But last time it was an orrible experience !!! I rent the best possible room available (privilege). The room wasugly, with an hold small tv, old carpet and it was in front to a building under destruction/construction where workers start to beat out with their hammer at 7.00. The price was normal and didn't take in care of this problem.

The room was comfortable, we were able to check in 2 hours earlier than the normal time. The only let down was not having your own kettle etc and more channel availability on the tv. Room service and everything else was perfect.

The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. Some of the rooms were too small and with the windows to an interior courtyard. The corridors and stairs were quite worn and the minibar had not been checked and we found used bottles and empty cans in it.

The design of the hotel is old and historic, and its location is very centrally located to the Grande Place. The Hotel's wi-fi was not working throughout the visit. Also, the bed cover was dirty, and I asked for it to be changed twice, and the hotel did not bother complying.

Nice breakfast Too old hotel. It requires to make some repair, to change furniture, to make more modern bathrooms. It seems like you are back in 1990s. Too expensive for services hotel offers.

It is a lovely old hotel, restored to it's original splendour. The Bar, Cafe, Lobby and Restaurant are fabulous. It is in a great location just a few minutes walk from Grand Place and adjacent to Metro and Tram for accessing the rest of Brussels. Some of the rooms are not what you you expect in a 5 star hotel. If you book a "Superior" room it is not superior to anything, it is very basic. "Superior" is the lowest standard of room at the Hotel Metropole. The better rooms are "Privilege" and the best rooms are "Suites". We were allocated a "superior" room which was very scruffy with unfinished decoration and loose electrical fittings with a window on to a light well. We were upgraded to the next standard when we complained.

Absolutely stunning decor, fantastic staff and a great deal through booking.com! We paid 530 euros for 8 of us sharing 3 double rooms with 2 extra beds, and saw on arrival that the cost of a double room on it's own is usually 419 euros! Absolutely amazing trip! Extremely central and easy to reach from any of the airports and rail stations.

We were utterly surprised at this lovely hotel with top notch service and the history and glory of a turn of the century atmosphere. We fully enjoyed the sidewalk cafe in the evenings and the location was convenient to all the sites we wanted to see such as Grand Palace and museums and chocolate shops.

The decor in the main reception area restaurant and cafe bar is fantastic they top up the mini bar with free beer, coke and water The room was not good for the price, very disappointing at 478 euros for three nights. It was very hot with no thermostat to cool it down. The bath was tiny. Breakfast was cold every morning and very average. Staff did not engage in pleasantries they don't seem very happy at all.

Great location. Hotel was beautiful. Room was nicely decorated, spacious, and very clean. Our stay was enjoyable. Bonus 2 free beers, cokes, and waters from the mini bar. Bed was uncomfortable. In room book, it stated kids get a welcome pack, but ours did not. Not sure if I was supposed to ask for it.

This is an exquisite hotel that is very well designed and has luxury decor, How can anyone justify 28 Euros for a continental breakfast, plus another 16 if you want cooked, this is the 21st Century, move on the china won't be that good.
