The decor and general ambiance, my room was pretty and comfortable, also spacious. The breakfast is superb and fellow guests agreeable. The cafe was closed, the head of bar staff was not helpful - wouldn't give a normal glass of water at first request. I ws then delivered with items different from those mentioned on the menu. The plumbing is old fashioned but it works albeit slowly.

We are still amazed @ what a beautiful place/room we got for the price. budget/chain hotels we have typically been staying @ have not come close. 115 euros for a huge twin room was a steal. Nothing

This hotel is fantastic in every way. The architecture and design are breathtakingly beautiful. The staff are very kind and helpful and the Restaurant is spectacular. Value for money is unparalleled in Europe if you can come at the weekend. It is worth going to Brussels just to experience this fine old Hotel. No Belgian waffle at breakfast buffet!

Excellent staff and very nice lobby, backing on to the main shopping street and within easy distance of the main square. Breakfast buffet was excellent and even had champagne. Room was a bit tired and could have done with a bit of sprucing up(labels peeling off etc.)

The 2nd and 3rd nights, I was allocated a room which did correspond to the advertised 'superior' standard. But nobody ever really apologised for the disaster of the first night The so called 'superior' room I was first allocated gave onto a claustrophobic narrow, dark well. The room was so dusty that within an hour I had an allergic reaction. the net curtains were dark grey with dust. But worst of all for a hotel of such reputation and price, the air-conditioning was mal-functioning and I had to be given a portable electric heater. And to cap it all water came pouring through the bath-room ceiling, along electric fittings, from the bath-room above. I was told they could not move me to another room until the following day and then I had to move my luggage myself. TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE. I was only given a 28 euros rebate after all this. Dreadful.

The fresh flowers in the lobby were beautiful.Friendly, efficient staff, large priveledge room complete with chandelier.Free softdrink, beer and water daily(2 of each).Checkin facilities and large stained glass windows were great. The whole hotel generated an atmosphere from 1895 the year it was built.Breakfast package was included and was lovely. If you had to purchase breakfast separately it was expensive .You can get cheaper in nearby cafes.

Belle Epoque hotel trying to recapture its former glory. Handsomely restored "comfort double", 30 m2 with high ceiling, marble bathroom. Quaint period elevator. Hotel cannot rise above its Lexington Avenue neighborhood. This is not Fifth Avenue. I felt the Metropole was atmospheric, my wife felt it was just old. Rather have stayed at the Meridien directly across from the central train station and in the heart of the nicer part of Brussels.

Location Room & breakfast Service The transportation fee was promised for 45 € from hotel to the airport. However, the driver charged for 60€, claiming that the extra came from traffic jam. I've done earlier exactly same trip and to my consideration it was not too bad. The reservation should have been warned me in advance.

Loved everything. It looks like a palace, has amazing deco in the rooms. All you see in the hotel's pictures are real! The antique elevator is a charm, the hotel and the rooms are very romantic and confortable. Great bathroom facilities. Very friendly and well prepared staff. The lift should be operated by a professional used to open and slide the heavy doors. I almost got my fingers clipped, and it can be difficult to open and close the metal doors with all your luggage.
