Hotel New Damshire  

Location close to city centre. Breakfast was ok.

Room was cold. Shower was small.

The staff, the location and the ambient were all superb for my needs. I will definitely be staying there again.

For me, I would have liked to be able to make tea in the room. Not sure if the machine in the breakfast room was available all day.

It would be good have glasses to drink water in the rooms. I had to go to reception to ask for glasses. At 3 am in the morning, I am not inclined to call reception to ask for glasses. The tap water in Leuven is very good Also Mosquitoes. I know Leuven well, and mosquitoes are active, if you leave roof windows open. I was bitten every night.

Location, 5 minutes from the "Oude Markt"

Price/quality is extremely bad. I paid 145 Euro for an attic room next to the elevator engine. The elevator went to the 3rd floor, the last floor was accessible through small stairs, difficult to enter with luggage. Small beds, bad cushions. Leaking toilet flush. Small bath with shower and curtain. After showering there was at least 2cm water all around the bathroom. Old & small television. Basic breakfast.

The first morning the cleaning ladies were very noisy , talking loudly and shutting doors with a lot of force , as on purpose

The hotel was small, clean and basic and the staff were very good and friendly.

The plumbing in Room 11 was poor and needs sorting out. The cistern was too slow in filling up and the tap water lacked pressure. This room was also next to the spiral marble staircase, and everytime someone used it you could hear them on the stairs. Maybe some carpet would reduce the sound. The hotel also lacked atmosphere.

Matresses could be better. Would have preferred wifi for my iPad; only wired Internet was on offer. Fortunately there was an unsecured wifi service that I connected to. Strange but it worked....

The location of the hotel meant that the centre of Leuven was within 10 minutes. Parking of the hire car was easy, as I could park almost in front of the main hotel entrance in a metered parking space (free overnight as long as the car is moved by 9am)

The light switches in the room were strangely configured so that I could not turn off the bedside lights without going to the main switch by the door.
