눉1. BAR HOSPITALITY
The barman that evening (11 Sep.) was not present at 11pm when I came to the bar hoping to be served a quick beer. I had to wait 8 mins to be served, eventually by a lady from the Reception and not by the barman, who I assume was still in the Gents toilet, as I had passed him going in there while on my way out!
When several guests came to the bar after I had my drink, the returning barman failed to greet the guests, wore a dead-pan face, and instead of immediately attending to his new bar guests, just went and cleared some tables and glasses left behind by other hotel guests who had just gone upstairs.
Then he came back behind the bar and took the orders from the new bar arrivals. But when he did, he failed to greet them with "Good evening..etc".
In my opinion, this behaviour was very unprofessional, completely unacceptable and totally out of sync with the politeness policy of this large, ambitious hotel chain. The man in question should have been given a warning and told to pull his socks up or else find a job which did not require any involvement with people.
a. Why do we have to be served tiny, kid-sized (baked-off) rolls for breakfast? Come on!
b. There are big differences in the quality and quantity of breakfast fare offered in the Danish and Swedish Park Inns compared with, for example, this Brussels Midi PI. Couldn't someone take a peek at the Swedish breakfast offering and bring back some fresh new ideas for breafasts in Belgium?
c. A coffee dispensing machine, urn-style, where you just have to flip the tap to deliver the coffee straight into your cup, would speed up the coffee service and reduce queueing time.
3. COFFEE AFTER CHECK-IN
I'd like to see free coffee available for guests on arrival. This would be easy to arrange as there is space enough for a dispensing in the Reception area. A member of the Reception staff could offer a coffee after the guest has booked in.
The room was comfortable, well-appointed and spacious, and had a view overlooking the quiete courtyard. The best rooms to get! Good bed. Airco worked well.

The check-in staff at Reception were all very polite, efficient, smartly dressed and helpful. Three langauges spoken well: Dutch, French and English. Initially allocated a room for a disabled person (no bath), the Reception changed the room quickly and without fuss. Wake-up call perfect. Check-out smooth and fast. Credit-card issue [some hotels fail to release the check-in deposit for weeks!] were well explained and staff member offered required reassurance. Well done!
