Basic hotel Too expensive
Excellent location, very central. Staff is very helpful. The atmosphere is very nice. Whenever I come to Antwerp I go to this hotel and I am not disappointed
If you get bored with typical hotels, go for this experience. Amazing architectural ensemble, inner yards and allegoric statues of death, RIP desks at the entrances, and halls with authentic furniture of 17-19 cen will entertain you. You may easily get lost there, as the structure of this place is unusual for the hotels. In non-tourist season the hotel closes around 9 p.m., but one telephone call for the night-keeper (the number is listed at the entrance) will solve the problems.
- Early breakfast, which finishes at 10 a.m. - A choice of the food for the breakfast is very moderate, bad water and as a result, bad tea and coffee. - No refugerator (at least in the single room). - Shower is quite weak.
Lovely setting in a secluded courtyard steeped in history. 5 minutes walk from the Grote Markt.
In the absence of a bar/restaurant more accurate recommendations would have been helpful instead of just pointing us in the direction of the Grote Markt.
The location was on the edge of being central and within a walled compound so it was quiet. I had 2 different rooms: #1 was spartan but had everything I needed (bed and a bathroom). #2 was a double room and it was huge and the bed was in a sleeping loft upstairs. Quite nice except the narrow, steep circular stair could be a hazard if you have mobility issues.
Lack of 'customer service' effort. I lengthened my stay by booking twice and even though I explained that to one of the desk staff, I was not warned that my key would stop working halfway through my booking and I had to change rooms. If I had not come back to the room during the day while attending a conference, I would not have known about the change and yet they would have charged me for 2 rooms for one night because I would not have checked out on time. The breakfast isn't available until 8:00 a.m. so if you are on business you might not be able to get breakfast. The wi-fi only worked late in the evening.
Only there one night!
location old building with character good breakfast
Location in the City, Historic sphere Cleanliness and silence very helpful and friendly personnel
a five minute walk to the Groenplaats a peaceful location
breakfast oké but not too much choice
Perfect location, walking distance to shopping and dining, very comfortable, lots of character.
The walls and the ceilings are very very thin. Every move and every conversation in other rooms or the corridor could be flistened to in my room
Friendly staff who are interested and take pride in the history of their hotel. Large, tastefully furnished, comfortable rooms. Excellent breakfast.
location, value for money, friendly staff
The petit dejeuner was great, plentiful and tasty. The staff was very nice but the front desk weekend person was very inexperienced. The room was comfortable and clean.
There was a wedding on the weekend we were there and the party went on until 4am with a loud band and people smoking right outside our window.
central position quiet and historical place good breakfast
An historic building, that provides unpretentious service.
The location and building is excellent, our room was pretty. Perfect location for the market on Sunday morning or generally walking to anywhere in the city. The breakfast was plentiful and the staff in this department were excellent, attentive without being intrusive.
We chose to stay over a weekend, beware ! This hotel is popular for parties. Our stay on Saturday evening in what we thought would be tranquil surroundings was disturbed until the early hours by the sound of loud music. We have been ensured this night would be refunded, however no sign yet, one can but hope. Do take some shower gel, we hadn't realised our small sample was to last the entire stay ! Also bring some large bath towels, the bath towels provided are tiny ! Mosquito's are also a BIG problem, so stock up on some defence.
Quiet ambiance within busy city, individual hotel with its own historical style.
Very nice hotel in a historic building ! in the center of the city with lots of interesting places near....good breakfast....
Location, architecture, facilities, value, quietness. Everything, really.
I had the room next to the dining room. Early start obligatory.
The front desk staff were very friendly and helpful. Grounds are beautiful. Breakfast was excellent. Size of room and bathroom were quite a bargain. I would stay there again and would recommend it to friends.
All lights in the entry hallway were turned off when I returned from dinner with friends about 11 pm.. I would have appreciated some lighting. Perhaps this was a mistake by someone.
location quiet place cleanliness character
Very quiet location, perfect to catch up on sleep. Very helpful staff. Beautiful location in old monastery/convent, with several of the magnificent rooms open for viewing. Excellent high-speed-internet
The room telephones can not be used to call abroad. The reception closes at 8 pm. I would have missed an important telephone call without Skype! A water kettle/or coffee machine in the room would be a nice touch
Excellent location in the center of Antwerp with cheap parking possibility round the corner. Friendly staff and good breakfast.
It's a pity that for such a nice place the carpeting is so full of stains which gives a nasty impression. It needs urgently to be renewed.
Location, nice chill out garden,
I heard every single noise in the rooms next door including showers running, coughing, spluttering, sneezing, doors shutting, talking. Overall not very comfortable
