Hotel jsme sehnali v akční nabídce za cca 30 euro na osobu a noc, za tu cenu jsme si mohli dopřát bohatou bufetovou snídani, fitness a přístup do bazénu a whirlpoolu. Recepční ovládali francouzštinu i angličtinu a byli příjemní. Jediné, co mi vadilo, byla špína v koupelně, která nevypadala moc uklizeně. |

Location is ok The single room, allthough P.P. much more expensive than a double, is a rip off. The bed had no cover sheet, no proper winter blanket or duvet even though it was freezing outside, reading lights at the bed had broken lamps, a worn down closet and a tiny tv (as apposed to the big flatscreens in the double room). In short, this room desperately needs a renovation. Allthough I requested a non-smoking room, this room was for smokers and ashtrays were provided. I could not get rid of the smell of smoke from previous occupants. The sauna and hammam are not included with your room. Only the 10x5 m swimming pool and mini jacuzzi (4 occupants max) are free of charge. |

Great breakfast in the large restaurant with plenty of choice. Free WiFi was great. The bedrooms are quite big with large windows which add to the feeling of space. Our quadruple room was much bigger than we had expected. Reception staff were very helpful. The very early 10am checkout caused long queues at reception especially as breakfast is 8.00am to 10.00am. The one hour single sitting for dinner is 'unusual' but it did force us to go out and find a superb restaurant in Ostend. |

The staff were very helpful & pleasant. The room & bathroom were very clean & disabled access was good. Breakfast was excellent & plentiful. The hotel is situated at about a 15 min. walk from the centre of Ostend, if you go in the correct direction! There are plenty of shops & eating establishments all around the Ostend area but keep an eye on prices-I think they are generally a little high. I read reviews of this hotel & to be honest, was not sure just what to expect-they were rather mixed good & bad. However, I found nothing at all 'bad' about the Royal Astrid & many 'good' things to recommend it. If people want 5* service then go to a 5* hotel & pay 5* prices! Parking is very limited with no dropped kerbs & there was no help with baggage except for the provision of 2 carts held in reception(although help may have been available if asked for, I don't know, I didn't ask). The hotel does not have walk in 'restaurant' facilities & any meals wanted, apart from breakfast, must be booked in advance. I would have liked to have Wi-Fi access & also tea/coffee in the room but these omissions didn't reduce the pleasure of the visit. |

The spacious sunny room, the friendly staff. I stayed for 4 days and the remote control did not work so I complained on the first day only to finally get it fixed on the 3rd. In addition, on the first night after washing my hair I realized that the hair dryer had broken down. As a result I slept with damp hair and woke up with a head cold. The hairdryer could not be fixed and there weren't any spare ones, so I asn't able to wash my my hair again for the remainder of my stay!!! Finally the breakfast buffet is inedible. Where else do you getcoffee out of coin machines? The pastries are worse than the ones you get in supermarkets! The toilets were clean but smelt indicating poor plumbing conditions. |

The Royal Astrid is a short stroll to Ostend's promenade and close to town so unless you are sightseeing you don't need a car. Whilst there is nothing specific to dislike about the hotel, we just found it rather basic and uninspiring. Breakfasts were adequate but bland and the bar and lounge area more utilitarian than sophisticated. During our stay we appeared to be the youngest guests there so it obviously has a good reputation amongst the elderly and disabled. We chose the hotel because it had a pool but it turned out to be too small for a swim. We ended up swimming at the Olympic size community pool across the road. |
