Score from 93 reviews Wonderful
Friendly and helpful host, quiet place which was what I was looking for. Tea & coffee available. Good breakfast.
Good bed, comfortable room. Breakfast was nice: available early + a lot of choice.
Weird angle of the TV when watching in bed. Problems with the WIFI internet connection in my room. When travelling for business this can be a problem.
pretty much everything !!!
Very clean place, crisp bed linen and very comfy mattress and duvet- Premier Inn could learn a thing or two. Restaurant and bar attached, again beautiful linen, lots of thought has gone into the ambience. Menu not huge but I had an excellent vegetarian salad. Very quiet over-night. Breakfast choice excellent quality and varied including pumpkin, sunflower and chia seeds, goji berries, fresh fruit salad, wonderful plain yogurt. Also all the usual continental meats, cheeses, fruit juice, breads, cereals etc. Family run with British connections and speak good English and I had no problem communicating despite being your typical British traveller. Bit of a problem with broadband initially but improved after I mentioned it. Lots of parking. Can't fault the quality.
The road works in the area did not cause me a problem on the way to the hotel but when leaving there were diversions that were not well marked and my Sat Nav could not cope and I had a merry dance around the area before making it to the motorway. Luckily I had left plenty of time to get to Calais so all was good. Price of the food was very steep. I would not normally pay that much for what was effectively a starter. I booked last minute and got a reduction but I felt it was still not a cheap place to stay.
The staff were rood at times when asked reasonable questions. The breakfast was poor and you were left to help yourself although this was not obvious. On the last night the hotel was deserted and we needed to settle up and ended making phone calls to get someone to see to us. No breakfast was available on the last morning.the hotel was also unfinished in places with cables hanging out of walls and ceiling panels missing. 340€ for 4 nights was extortionate .
This hotel is just 2-3 hours from Calais depending on traffic. It is in a quiet position not far from an industrial area and at least a 15 minutes drive into the town of Lier. It has a large car park big enough for all residents. The hotel doesn't open till 5pm ON THE DOT, so don't bother coming early, you can't even get in to go to the loo. The owner/ owners wife is Bea who showed us to our rooms. Our friends did not like their room upstairs (see room choice) so had it changed to one on the ground floor where our room was. Our room numbered 2 is quite spacious and very clean. It has a polished wooden floor. Unfortunately it was not very bright as only has 2 small dim lights by the bed and 1 light on the wall by the bathroom. The bed was very comfortable and wider than some we slept in and we had a good nights sleep. There was no mirror on the wall in our room but there was in our friends. The bathroom, unlike so many hotels we stayed in was nice and bright but a shame it had no shaving or makeup mirror. It did however have a nice big shower. We turned on the bathroom heater so we were able to warm up and dry the towels we used at night and which we wanted to use again in the morning. There is soap, some shampoo, shower cap and body lotion. Once again the towels had not been washed with softener added so were hard, as we have found throughout Belgium. In the reception area there is a large fresh water container which cleverly will give you either cool water to drink or boiling water when you want to make tea or coffee, which is provided on the table nearby. As the hotel was so far from the town, we decided to take pot luck and eat at the hotel restaurant. It was a lovely evening so we decided to eat outside in their garden where the tables were covered up with linen table cloths. What an excellent decision we made.
Don't even bother to turn up earlier than 5pm ON THE DOT. No one will be there. You can't even get to a loo till they get there.
Very clean and comfortable rooms. Great beds. Lovely restaurant with plenty of choice and a decent breakfast.
Great hotel - very comfortable with attentive staff. The dinner was particularly good.
Good family run business and very helpful
Very beatiful hotel. The good is excelent as is the breakfast. The rooms spacious and clean. But above all the family owners, makes you feel at home. Thanks for all Rudy and Bea.
Everything, one of the best places I have stayed in for a short break
The rooms are clean and comfortable.
It's a little bit expensive for a bed and breakfast with no extra facilities or added luxuries.
Great staff, but more than1 week has passed and the email with the invoice havent arrived... it must come on foot...
