Score from 2056 reviews Wonderful
Good size rooms Beautiful patio dining
Location was fair
the slippers, the large TV, staff is friendly
the fact that I had to pay for internet after one hour
We cannot but be happy about our stay in this wonderful place : nice and peaceful garden where we could have our breakfast; clean and comfortable room and very well situated (at a walking distance of the old city....).
Great location, nice spacious rooms, good service.
A lot of noise and a very tiny fitness room, not ideal at all.
- the decor, furnishings and fittings -the welcoming and thoughtful service from most especially at the time I arrived at lunchtime on Sunday 27th (there was only one staff experience which prevented me from rating 'excellent') - the terrace, the breakfast and the dining room -the overall ambience was very pleasant (I travel a lot, and notice these things) - as a result of booking on booking.com, i got a deal which was within my budget - it made my business visit to my Headquarters (the EU) more memorable than usual
- some of the plugs in my room didn't work, making it harder to find somewhere convenient to charge my devices - the entrance (with stairs etc) was a little narrow and difficult for luggage - and there was no-one there to help.
When I booked hotel, hotel detail shows as Wifi service is available with additional cost (6.95 per day) However not only wifi, general internet connection (LAN) was need to pay fee. If I've known LAN was not including room, I NEVER HAVE BOOKED STANHOPE HOTEL.
Location - breakfast included in room cost
Fading glory - having to pay for WiFi. I have been staying at this hotel since around 1995 and then it could rightly claim to be a 5-star with Royalty among the frequent guests. it is no longer that hotel.
Excellent staff, pleasant atmosphere,comfortable bed
The total price of accomodation&breakfast, plus a garantee, was blocked on my credit card until the end of the month, in spite of payment on the last day of my staying.
Paid and rather poor wifi as tested with rottenwifi app. In Foursquare they even claim that wifi is free.
The ambiance is quite good, if you like faded grandeur.
Third-rate exercise room -- small and with little equipment. The staff seem to avoid eye contact at all costs, and heaven help that they should ever smile.
The hotel was very well furnished. The manager recommended a very good restaurant 10 minutes walk away.
There was no atmosphere, felt quite unwelcoming in general. We didn't want to sit in the lounge bar or eat in the hotel restaurant. We stayed only 2 nights and the exact menu was posted in the lift for both nights. The mini bar was very limited - and after drinking the one bottle of water in the mini bar it was not replaced the following day. No in room complimentary water and no tea making facilities available. We needed a taxi to get to the main tourist areas.
Wonderful, very well equipped room. Close to my business. Very nice personnel.
Thick black carpet is not easy to maintain.
Room, location, restaurant, atmosphere. Everything promised 2 restful and enjoyable nights on business trip to Brussels.
The rain was pouring down so hurried back to Stanhope hotel looking forward to a sauna. The young lady in the reception said it would take about 15 min to heat. Went down after 30 minutes to find the sauna was never even turned on. Big disappointment for me and big minus for this hotel.
I stayed at the club room, and it was beautiful and quiet. The Windows are sound-proof (double) I could not even hear the screaming of people in the street during the World Cup game when Belgium was playing. The temperature in the room was ideal. I cannot say enough about the very tasteful decor of the room and living room. The room was always kept extra clean, the sheet, the comforter and the bed very comfortable. The soap was so soft and I did not even need the moisturizer that was, unfortunately, not provided. What I loved most of all is that each three rooms have they own wings and elevator, which reduce noises from your neighbor coming in and out. Do not hesitate to choose this hotel!
I asked for Gluten Free breakfast (am celiac) 24 hours in advance, and all they could offer me was few slice of rice bread, obviously defrosted and grilled to burn... I am used to not expecting any special food when I travel and I carry my GF food with me, but the hotel restaurant advertise that it offers GF if you order in advance... I was so disappointed, especially that the grocery store Delhaize was few blocs away they could have went and got some GF waffle and croissant .... For 20/29 euros the breakfast they need to make an effort.....
staff professionalism and kindness rooms comfort and decoration Nice location for a week-end in Brussels
ambiance and location good, staff very helpful organising taxis and directing me to local venues. breakfast room was really good
the evening room we had for our dinner was less of a pleasant environment, a bit hot and lacking in personality but I guess we were a big party and you had to put us somewhere
Too many external events hosted on the hotel premises!
Asking for a garantie (EUR 50) is not done in a 5 star hotel.
Location ( near public transport) , ambiance, decoration .
Less staff than other years , specially at the restaurant for breakfast. Not enough choice for a good buffet.
Be careful with your assets! - THE WORSE SERVICE EVER! I had been in the Stanhope Hotel to celebrate a special date with my wife. I parked my new Porsche 911 in the garage. When we did the check out I noticed my car was damaged. Finally, I called the police and the responsible for the damage didn't even had a driving license. The hotel didn't call me after that nor to apologize for the inconvenience or to pay for the damage. The hotel was not worth the trouble, I sincerely think a establishment that does not take liability for its action is of no consideration, the service of parking my car, was a PAID service, therefore a minimum customer service would be expected. I DO NOT recommend this hotel.
really good breakfast / Room decoration
lack of service. also royal suite dirty. staff promised that manager would contact us, but it never happened.
Not much, I'm afraid.
I checked in at about 11pm. There was one person at the desk and she was having technical problems with the key machine which made the process very slow. Very, very slow. And it generated a line that didn't move. The gym was advertised as a 24 hour facility. The staff said it closed at 11pm and re-opened in the morning at 7. If you make your booking at booking.com, you have to pay for internet. If you make it through the hotel's website, it's free. This of course is not a good way to cooperate with booking.com, and since you can't avoid realizing this when you log in, it's kind of obnoxious. I don't care about the fee, but to punish me for using booking.com is petty. The bed was awful. Super soft. And the room was over-furnished, e.g. a bench at the base of the bad that made it almost impossible to move about the room. All in all, a weak staff when it comes to service and the atmosphere of a place that is past it's prime. I gave them opportunities to "make things right" (e.g. comping the wifi), but they were rigid.
