The parking was very secure, in the private rear yard of the property. Period property, well located, with "interestingly" furnished public areas. We did not find this b&b at all welcoming. The proprieters were not personable and were not even there when we arrived (mid-afternoon)....after a telephone call we were given a code to let ourselves in. The description of this property needs updating...there is no longer any business centre, or any access to the internet. As with other guests who have commented, we were left totally to our own devices at breakfast. The selection provided was very poor. Our room on the top floor was very plain, with a soft, uncomfortable mattress. The "quirky" decoration cannot hide the fact that this is a hugely over priced, basic b&b, which we could not reccommend. |

For us the proximity to train station was the reason we booked. It was clean and Eugene was very helpful in answering our questions about the area. After a long day of sightseeing, the steps to our 4th floor room got harder each day!!!! |

The hotelier was very helpful in recommending restaurants and places to visit. A good selection was offered at breakfast and there were hot drinks available throughout the day. |

I stayed at The Mansion for the Tour of Flanders, and its great for anyone doing this event, its a lovely place and the people are very friendly and accomodating - they even put breakfast on at 6am for me. They also have a beautiful black and white cat. |

This is truely a beautiful hotel, the best single room I have ever stayed in, quiet, clean and full of style with modern art on the walls. You really feel at home at this place. And the breakfast is excellent, fresh bread, croissants, cheese etc. The location is also ideal and the staff is very helpfull. The price was a bit high, but you get one of the best rooms you can dream of. |

Although we only saw the owner and his daughter fleetingly, when we arrived, briefly at breakfast the following morning and when we checked out, they seemed very pleasant. The bed was very comfortable. It was very difficult to find after dark, even with our family who live in Aalst. The building itself was "interesting" though it had no lift and we were up 4 flights of wooden stairs. The room was very basic, nothing matched, There were no face flannels, no bar of soap and plastic tooth mugs. We were left to our own devices at breakfast which was a buffet breakfast - not sure this was made clear beforehand. Rolls and croissants not particularly fresh, not sure if there were facilities for toast. All very much self service. I thought it was vastly overpriced for what it offered even at the "special price" we supposedly were given on line. It was very austere and had absolutely no atmosphere. |

Car parked in total safety. Access to railway station with excellent rail links to Brussels and Ghent; very economical fares. Very unusual and interesting house. Complete freedom to come and go. €10 per day car parking fee. Although this is made quite clear on the booking form it seems a bit steep. There is also an additional 6% city tax over and above the fee. Again this is made clear on the booking form. |

Excellent staff. Excellent is an overused word but it applies here. We felt very welcome, very relaxed, very comfortable. We needed a place to stay for something we were doing in the local area but we would not hesitate to go back just to stay there, relax and enjoy the city. Really nice location. The owner has tried to create a "family atmosphere" and has succeeded completely. |
