Very friendly manager/owner. Great location near the Grote Markt. Smelled like smoke throughout the hotel. I have not seen anybody smoking and are still wondering where the terrible smoke smell came from. Even at the breakfast table it smelled badly. Could not sleep as for reason above.

The hostess was very friendly; the hotel was situated in a picturesque building; the room was simple but pleasant and offered great value for money If you're a light sleeper, you might want to bring earplugs with you: we were woken up a few times by street noises.

Very nice, old stylish hotel with friendly owner Mrs. Mireille. Pretty good breakfast. If you would like to live in old fashion, historic atmosphere - choose this hotel. You can get this place from train station by bus 12, till Grote Markt , then go back on the same bus's way, turn right on the second street (about 5 min walking) Too thin walls, you can hear your neighbors ....but for 17th century building I think it's ok

The hotel is full of character and about 2 minutes from the Belfort square. Breakfast offers a good selection of cold meats, cheese, fruit, toast, and pastries. The rooms are very well kept and charming. It's a traditional old building so don't expect mod-cons, but it is a great place in a brilliant location - in a quiet street, but literally round the corner from the bars and restos of the Egg Market area. Parking is 3 minutes away at the Zilverstraat multi-storey. Ps if touring Belgium, give Brussels a miss - it's a driver's nightmare and second only to Milan in grubbiness! Stay in Bruges!

The location cannot be beat, very close to everything that we wanted to see. A huge bonus that we were able to park the car securely for a really reasonable price. The wonderful woman who (I think) owns the place was so helpful. She had so much information for us and was just about the nicest person ever. She was very sweet with my daughter, too, and we were very impressed with all the languages she could speak, with ease! The breakfast was a great start to our day, as well. Very pleased with our stay. Our only complaint at all was that the bed was much too soft. A small complaint for all of the benefits!

Great hotel to stay for a city trip: It is located down town; nice and extensive breakfast and lovely and very friendly woman hosting the hotel. She gaves us maps of Bruges and told many things about the city.

Hotel Van Eyck is an unique quaint hotel in the perfect central setting of bruges. The hotel oozes charm and sophistication and is perfectly located to all well-known tourist sites within the city. The owner of this hotel-Mireille made our stay even better through her natural friendliness and insight knowledge about Bruges. The hotel reflects Mireille pride and euthusiasm and her hard work in making this elegant hotel a perfect place to stay whilst in Bruges. My girlfriend-Lisa and I have stayed frequency in mainland Europe and without any doubt, would rate Hotel Van Eyck our favourite.A little gem in the heart of Bruges.

One of the best parts of the hotel which I think all visitors have mentioned before: the owner. Mireille is a lovely lady with a passion for the hotel, the industry and her guests. She speaks many kabguages, is extremely welcoming and makes you feel very comfortable. Moreover, she manages the hotel by herself, which is quite impressive! I really liked the arrival - the room wasnt ready yet but we could put our luggage in the room. Mireille gave us a map of the city and explained where the "hotspots" are. The breakfast was really good and the breakfast roomis beautiful with lovely classical music in the background. There is also a reading corner and you can borrow the magazines which are available there. A small minor point was that the one lamp in our room was not working. However everything was done to solve it and as a "sorry for the inconvenience" gesture we even were presented with a bottle of real Van Eyck housewine! It is still in my bag but I'm sure I will soon enjoy it with some pralines.... Now that's not really a bad point, is it? ;) . The only thing which for me was a bit uncomfortable was that the matrasses were very soft - I prefer hard ones! But I guess that's more personal taste then anything else.

The hotel is in the perfect location in Bruges. The owner is very helpful and shows you where to find the best things to see. The rooms are clean and quirky - they're not your standard sterile rooms, they have personality. Bathrooms are good quality. And the breakfast is very good. On checking out, the owner gave us a bottle of wine as a gift to enjoy in the new year - a nice touch.

Our hostess, Mareille, could not have been more gracious. The old house was charming, if lacking in some of the usual hotel amenities, ie., No elevator. Location could not have been better: one block from the Markt.

The owner of the hotel was very friendly and helpful, nothing was to much trouble for her. The breakfast in the morning was lovely, there was everything that you needed. The hotel is very close to everything and in an ideal position. The room was plenty big enough for the four of us. The bathroom had been modernised I just felt that the room needed a bit of an update it was a bit tired.

The hotel manager was very friendly and helpful. The location was excellent, one block from the main square. There was parking available across the road for EUR10 per day. The continental breakfast was well presented Our room was spacious with a big bay window facing the Belfry. The hotel has a lot of potential but needs new furniture in the rooms. Everything was clean and everything worked (except the showerhead attachment which requires a small fix) but the rooms are furnished in a bric-brac fashion. This does add to its small hotel charm though and did not affect our enjoyment of the stay.

Mireille is an excellent hostess, speaks several languages fluently and is more than happy to assist her guests with any queries regardin Bruges. The breakfast offers a wide selection of healthful choices in a bright and attractive dining room. Enjoyed the opera and classical music at breakfast. Our request for a view of the Bell tower was obliged. The bathroom floor and wall tiles, and the shower are clean and appear to be new. The hallways and staircase are well-worn, and the walls are in need of some paint and renovation. The room decor is basic. The mattress lacked firm support.
