Melia Hotel Grand Hermitage is located in Golden Sands, Varna, directly at the Black Sea. The hotel provides 727 sea and park view rooms, including 31 suites.

The YHI Spa stretches on 2 levels and offers, in addition to beauty and massage treatments, an indoor and outdoor pool, a Jacuzzi, a sauna, a Turkish bath and a gym.

The hotel is located on a quiet hillside, surrounded on the south by a chapel, on the north by a wild green park, on the east by lush green terraces leading down to the promenade and the beach, and on the east by the hotel driveway. The hotel is secluded from the hustle and bustle of typical beach life, entertainment and shopping, which is still only a short walk away.

Food & beverage

Breakfast is served at the main restaurant between 07:00 and 10:00. It is free of charge for children up to 6 years of age.

The half-board supplement for children between 6 and 12 years of age is 50% of the normal price.

Room information

The hotel provides sea and park view rooms inclusive of 30 suites. The Presidential Suite stretches over 2 levels and boasts a magnificent panorama-view over the sea.

Each room highlights a private and spacious balcony with a magnificent view over the sea, swimming pool, the surrounding parks or forested hills.

All rooms are decorated in warm tones; mahogany veneered wood furniture and burgundy striped or polka-dotted fabrics, black-out curtains for long rests, ottomans and amber night-lights.

Each room offers hairdryer, bathrobe and slippers, key card access and 24-hour room service and individually controllable central air conditioning/heating.

Bathrooms feature a bath and shower cabin that is spacious enough for two, with a central rain shower or the personal phone-handle shower with flexible hose and wall rail.

The Hotel is located in Golden Sands, a popular sea side resort on the coast of the Black Sea.
Nearby points of interest:
-Aladja Monastery-This is one of the few preserved and accessible rock monasteries in Bulgaria, dating from the early Middle Ages and conforming to the hesychastic idea of silence, asceticism and moral perfection. Monastic cells and a small church have been dug into a sheer rock. Differently coloured 13th-14th century frescoes are still discernible on its walls.
-Balchik Palace and Botanical Garden-The Quiet Nook Palace and its park are placed on area of 35 hectares. Over 3000 plants grow here . It has over 250 different species.This is the former summer residence of the Romanian Queen Maria.
-Dolphinarium-The Dolphinarium was founded in 1984 and since than offers regular performances of talented dolphin artists. Stairways connect the lobbies and the audience hall with its 1200 seats capacity. In the middle is the main pool for performances with 6 metres in diameter and 3 metres in depth and additional smaller pool.
-Pobitite Kamuni (Rammed Stones) are situated 18 km west of the city. The stone figures were formed by erosion about 50 million years ago and hold in various forms of fossils. Many of them were used as places of worship during Thracian, Slavonic, and ancient Bulgarian times.

The indoor leisure facilities.

Being treated as a second class citizen in a 5* hotel. We ordered room service as I was unwell but the food was cold when delivered. Items used in the room were not replaced after service clean i.e. glasses, feminine hygeine bags, and bar items. Buffet Breakfast cleared away too early.

Indoor swimming pool and SPA; comfortable, big room; sea view; even very big the hotel seems not be overcrowded

Generally hotel is ok, one may claim there was too less place around the swimming pool;

Great Pool. Staff were generally quite nice but not that efficient. Rooms were nicely appointed.

Breakfast is something to behold. Quite a challenge to get to the food as there are so many people. Never enough staff on reception. No concierge.

The hotel is really beautiful. the rooms are spacious, the swimming pool is huge, beautiful vew from the balcony.

Few things i like to mention: swimming pool - no pool boys to take care of you, for the ebach you have to pay separate (hotel can arrange with the beach comp for free use for hotel guests), very crowded at the breakfast, we really have to strugle to get a table and some food and the credit casrd machine didnt work with mine.
