Melia Grand Hotel Hermitage    

We spent four days in this hotel in April-May 2013, before the Orthodox Easter. The staff were friendly and polite, almost everything was fine, large spacious rooms, cleanliness was ok. No bathrobes, free wireless and wired internet (wired - rooms, wireless - rooms and everywhere else), we had a room with sea view (nice view). The hotel room safe is big enough to accommodate a 14" laptop. There are three elevators in the South wing (not sure about the North wing, we stayed in the South wing), with direct access to Restaurant level (r) and underground parking level (G)(parking costs 10 euro/night, be warned that there is only a small free parking around the hotel). If you need cash, there are two ATMs at the c level, right in front of the elevators. The hotel has no own beach but the access to the public beach is easy (overcrowded in full-season, as the hole resort is, definitely too crowded for our taste). We had bb, we was offered with ai but chosen to eat in different places all over the resort (even there weren't many restaurants opened yet). Will return probably, it's a good hotel, one of the best extra season choice for us.

Two things we didn't like: the minidisco (the animation team didn't really succeed to animate the kids - they performed on the scene in front of the children and only at the end of the program came down and danced with the kids for a few minutes, and clearly the kids enjoyed these ending minutes much much more) and the fact that there are two types of clients, regular and level (premium clients) - and the hotel reserve the best placed sunbeds at the pool for its premium/LEVEL clients.

The location and rooms are very elegant with excellent shower and separate bath. The hotel is very impressive and has 5 star ambience in the main entrance with displayed facilities. It is very clean and has a very nice aroma near the spa area.

The service is appalling for 5 star status, the staff are not competent in their job role and can be quite rude and aggressive in nature. The hotel has over 700 bedrooms, the pool area cannot accomodate all guests to occupy sun beds when the hotel is full. The retaurant is like a cafeteria which is noisy and lousy cold food. There are 2 levels of guests, 3 star if you are not in the level 1 club for which you have to pay extra, and having experienced the club it is no better than 3 star. The grounds are very open and we observed no security only small signs to discourage outsiders, who frequented the hotel nightly. It is not disability friendly in certain areas as our room was far away from working lift, the operational lift near our room was used for staff only, we complained and this was totally disregarded. The toilets near the snack bar were smelly and lacked toilet tissue/soap and the general snack bar area leaves a lot to be desired when it comes to clearing tables. The Quality management do listen to your complaints but do not try to resolve issues to a satisfactory conclusion. Personally we checked out a day early.

The room is very spacious, clean and has an elegant design.

The breakfast is poor for a five star hotel. No natural fresh juices and a limited variety of food at the breakfast. The guests are divided in two categories which is not right for a five star hotel.

We didn't find any slippers and robe which is not so good for a 5* hotel!

The hotel and most of the staff were brilliant . Superb view, on beach, lovely pool and facilities. Nice rooms.

Start of season so very limited restaurant and room service; room service dinners, when they could finally tell me what was available, were moderate and clearly left over from restaurant service. The hot breakfast including the hot drinks was cold and the cold breakfast was of limited choice for 5 star. As I was not all inclusive I didn't qualify for fruit juice only cheao squash, albeit 5 star cheap squash. Selected hotel as it advertised smoking rooms, turned out to be non smoking.

Size of rooms and bathrooms

This great ex Kempinski hotel is unfortunately by far NOT anymore a Five Star hotel. The All Inclusive formula is destroying everything. The buffet style food is horrible and the Buffet restaurant is like a big Canteen. The A La Carte restaurant was closed and I have been told that it was only open in the high season for 3 nights per week. The Buffet restaurant staff is friendly but a lot of them does not even speak English. The Egg station guys were not capable to make for example an Omelette. They only knew how to fry an Egg. The main bar was cleaned and almost closed 45 minutes before the closing time of 23.00 hrs. I had to insist to get a drink at 22.15 hrs. Melia is destroying it's reputation with this service. For service this hotel is now NOT EVEN 3 stars.

The facilities and the amenities. Excellent location.

I really enjoyed the swimming pool and the sunbeds, and the direct seaview from our balcony. It's a huge hotel, majestic I might say, very clean with a very-well trained animation staff - we had some fun activities organised every day, but unfortunately the water was too cold in September. The speaker in the bathroom was cool, you could listen to music/news while you were showering.

If you're not a Level client, you don't have free access to the parking garage, regular sauna or other restaurants. You also don't get bathrobes and slippers. This segregation of the clients is unacceptable, it's like some of the clients have 4,5 star treatment and other benefit of the true 5 star services. My boyfriend and I were celebrating our birthdays (on monday and tuesday) and only he got a birthday card; they didn't even bother to send us a bottle of wine - some 5 star services... The food is acceptable and sufficient, 'though one day at lunch only half of the food bar was open... Don't take your laptops, you won't be able to download much, not even small YouTube videos. The wireless connection is very poor, it works okay only on cell-phones (in the hotel, outside it gets worse). This hotel would be really great if the management/staff payed more attention to DETAILS.

Quite big and comforatble rooms and bathrooms, however in some rooms there is some mould between the bath and shower, which is unacceptable in a 5 star hotel. Very close to the sea but no hotel beach so you have to pay for sunbeds. Good location.

Very very poor and bad food. We were lucky to buy only breakfasts (where most food was so awful and uneatable and those few eatable dishes like fried eggs and water melons disappered very fast as they had too many guests at the restaurant and were not able to serve them, unfresh bread and cakes) but our friends had all inclusive package and they said that breakfast was the richest meal there :) Swimming pool was quite dirty.

Problems with WI-FI connection in rooms. Food was cold at breakfast, dinner was not very tasty

Big rooms, good breakfast

Very rude and unpolite receptionist, although hotel was booked on line (with all credit card details), the receptionist asked us to pay the bill as soon as we entered the hotel, before even checking in the room. Not a five star attitude. Also, the room is out dated,carpet dirty and old, this used to be a good five star hotel, but now it should be a maximum 4 star. Minibar non-existent, just a small fridge EMPTY! (not even a bottle of water!)

excellent hotel, very big and comfortable room, huge bathroom, huge bed, food was good (great croissants :) ), very close to the beach, nice surroundings

- the hotel doesn't have a private beach, the beach in front of the hotel is not operated by the hotel, you have to pay extra for the sunbeds and umbrella; - lack of a good animation program and of recreation / entertainment activities (water sports, beach volley etc) Melia is not a resort, but it's an excellent hotel.

Probably the best hotel around there. Very clean, comfortable and very good and helpful staff.

All inclusive package too expensive given the quality and compare to restaurants around. Hotel for many families with kids, not young people.

they want me check out before two days just because my uncle check out in this day but he has another reservation , they take our passports and blocked my visa card hehehehe

the room was big and luxury and very clean, the hotel is elegant and situated in a very good position near amenitiies and beach, the personal was very kindly, the food was good and different
