Lion Hotel Borovets  

We had a perfect stay. Not in the centre of Borovets but it makes no difference because the hotel provides a constant free shuttle bus to the slopes which takes all of 5 mins. Our room was huge, very clean, always warm and very quiet. The bar had a good atmosphere and is far cheaper for food than the overpriced places in Borovets. The spa has a everything you need to unwind and we could not complain about the breakfast. Really have nothing bad to say about this hotel and would most definitely return.

The hotel is great. I have stayed many times and will again.

It was really pleasant to stay there. The location is one to be highly recommended if you prefer to be among the pine trees, literally watching through your windows, superb view of the ski slopes of the mountain, and really, really quiet. The restaurant and bar are well-designed, also relaxed (except on breakfasts, of course). The shuttle to the lift- station and center of the resort is pretty convenient.

The spa section is one to be improve. The service is not very helpful, the pool is cold for winter season standards, it might be okay for summer. You have to take your bath robe and towel from the life guard, on very formal procedure, which is not acceptable - for a few possible losses of towels, it's not worth it. It's embarrassing for the guests. And, please, note - you have to take your bathrobe downstairs from the spa, it's not in your room. It's very noisy and bit of crowd at the pool, but as far kids are our major concern and joy, so ... Last, the staff are doing special health treatments at Turkish bath, but during this, no one else can use it, so may be it's not proper to do this in busy hours.

Terrible staff!!!! Very very bad staff in reception !!! about 1,5 miles from centre resort , last ski bus 6pm :( im very recommend hotel ****rila**** think the best hotel in borovets we bin one night in rila an im verry happy

We have stayed in the hotel 3 times now and if we were in borovettes we would stay there again. The staff and service are excellant and we love the place.

Location

Room was spatious, clean and cosy. It had a wonderful mountain view. Food from the menu was deliciously prepared and every meal was a feast by itself. Buffet table for breakfast was good, but it was always basically the same dishes (which can get tiresome after a while). Staff was very friendly and efficient. We also liked the pool - warm water, nice view and an interesting shape of the pool itself. The location of the hotel is also pretty good (for us at least), because it is secluded but no more than 15 minutes walk from the center. In the winter there is a shuttle bus every 20 min. Or so, going to and from the center. All in all we had wonderful time there.

Buffet breakfast had basically the same dishes every day. Also, the room walls are not very soundproof, but that's not a big problem unless you have very noisy neighbors.

Vorsicht geboten, extreme Service-Mängel: das Zimmer war kalt und die Zentralheizung abgestellt. Der Restaurant-Service war miserabel. Ich wartete nach wiederholter Mahnung eine Stunde auf ein Steak, das gebracht wurde, nachdem meine Frau zu Ende gegessen hatte. Es handelte sich um ein fast rohes Stück Fleisch. Die Kellnerin tauchte nicht mehr auf. Schließlich fand ich ihre Kollegin hinter dem Küchenzugang versteckt, um zu reklamieren. Nachdem eine weitere Viertelstunde ergebnislos vergangen war, bestellten wir die Rechnung. Auf der Rechnung stand unter anderem eine Speise, die wir nicht bestellt hatten. Die Kellnerin bestand darauf, dass wir die fehlerhafte Rechnung bezahlen sollten; am nächsten Morgen würde uns das Hotel-Management der überzahlten Betrag erstatten. Was wir nicht taten.
