Borovets is a great place for families looking for a ski vacation. It's not to hard to get to from Sofia airport. Just 77 minutes away from the airport. The town felt safe and quiet even at night ( at least where we stayed). It has a green slope which is ideal for beginners. The blue and green slopes are right next to each other. This enabled me to see my daughter ski on the blue slope while I used the easier green slope which was too easy for her. The lift is safe and efficient. The slopes are wide enough to accommodate all the skiers without feeling too crowded. There are lots of good options for ski lessons and equipment. Personally I recommend Ollie Moly Ski school and rental. One piece of advice: don't change money to BGN in the airport. You get a much better rate by changing in Borovets. There are plenty of change stores in the town. The town is very close to the ski slopes. There are plenty of places to buy food

Beautiful slopes and lots of chairs available high on the mountains. It is however extremely crowded at the bottom gondola. It opens at 8:30 but at that time the queue is already very long and it's going slowly. We spent almost 45-60 mins staying in the queue at the bottom gondola. Also, the closing time is 4:30 PM. We would have expected that during Febr when the day is longer that they will be open much later than that.

Slopes were not well maintained, especially after it snowed overnight. They would become bumpy quickly after start of the day. Lifts timinings are also stange - cabin starts at 8 am, while Yastrebec Express at 8:30, so if one wants to go up - you have to wait very long time at Mid Station. I think it would be a great idea to leave 2 or 3 cabins empty, every now and then, so people waiting at mid statuon can board quicker.

The resort has seen better days.
The resort has seen better days. As a native from Bulgaria we can see the hordes of people hitting the slopes during the winter(when we visit) and if you plan to visit during the weekend - don't, you will ruin your experience. We are talking about 20minute waits on lifts, no space to walk due to lack of parking spaces to handle the traffic load and so. Week days are still calm and you can actually enjoy it. Another tip - if you want to eat, go to the near by town Samokov(5min drive) instead of eating on the slopes. It costs as much as 50% less and the food is better.

Borovets is a wonderful choice for a summer holiday,...
Borovets is a wonderful choice for a summer holiday, escaping the city heat and noise. Ideally located a little over an hour from Sofia, the town offers loads of activities, as well as cafes and restaurants to enjoy after a hike in the woods. It has something to offer to everyone. I can recommend Borovets wholeheartedly. We will be back for sure.
A jewel in otherwise modest accommodation in Borovets. The staff we spoke with (Mario and Gabriella) were very helpful but not intrusive. The styling, ambience and presentation of this boutique hotel was exceptional. Yes, it's a little more expensive than the massive anonymous hotels slightly closer to the slopes but only 8 minutes or so to the gondola station as an example.
For once, photos on booking.com were an accurate reflection of the accommodation.
A great experience and highly recommended.
Very nice and comfortable place for 2, and even we as family of 4 felt great. The host is helpful and swift to respond. The studio is clean and cosy, with a comfortable bed and extension bed for the kids. In a beatiful forest area and a walking distance to Yastrebec ski run. With affordable additional payment we enjoyed all the amenities of the five star Hotel - Borovets Hills, which is in the same building /restaurant and a nice spa center with a pool/. Definitely will come back again!
The breakfast and dinner were more than exceptional!
The chef Jordan and his colleague Kremena gave us the sence of feeling more than welcome! They prepared a vast selection from the Bulgarian and International cuisine. The food was fresh, good quality, taste and very well presented!
Special thanks to Peter, restaurant Manager, who made us feel as home!
Hotel Reception desk attendant Grigor and all other Hotel staff were frendly, welcomming and ready to help us in any situation!
We loved everything.... The breakfast was very good with a lot of options. The Location of the Hotel is GREAT but you must have a car to get there. Also the route wasn't good so be prepared to take a lot of holes to arrive there. The maximum velocity on road is 90 but we were a lot on 50... so it takes long time to arrive anywhere. The city of Borovets is 3 km from the Hotel and it is very nice this time of the year but almost everything was closed.
- room was large and clean, with balcony
- bathroom clean, hot water with excellent water pressure
- staff was nice, always willing to help
- Good breakfast and dinner, nice food diversity and very nice hot station where eggs, pancakes and meat was prepared on the spot
- vrey good parking, with the possibility to park underground for a tax
- shuttle transfer to the slope and a place to deposit your equipment
- similar to a 5 stars hotel in Bansko
Staff were very friendly. Very good choice of food from the breakfast and dinner buffet, different choice of food every morning and evening. Room was very warm. Nice communal area downstairs with a fire to play bored games and have a drink. Feels like a nice family run hotel, feels homely. Fresh towels every day.
About a 10min walk from borovets centre where the bars/restaurants and ski slopes are located.
Landmark hotel in top location. I love Borovets, Rila mountain and surrounding hills and plain. Samokov has also changed since my last visit to Borovets 4 or 5 years ago. It is atractive to visit or stop for rest. Sapareva Banja should not be missed. Even a half day soaking in the thermal springs does mirracles. The 7 Rila Lakes take my breath away everytime although I have hiked there a few times.
We stayed in a maisonette as a family of four - this offered excellent accommodation with 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. The hotel was clean and comfortable if rather dated, but the location was fantastic - walkable to all slopes and all restaurants etc. The hotel was quiet and breakfast was good. The pool was also fantastic!
Good location, close to the slopes. 15 mins walking from SanSki rental (next to Iglika slope), where we used ski rental and wardrobe.
- Situated in the forest with nice winter view.
-Spacious room (double room).
-There is a mini bathtub, which is a nice extra to relax after skiing (in case it's well cleaned).
The best part is the food provided - great quantity and good quality, different every day. The hotel is located 15 min. away by walk from the town center, away from the crowd and noise. The indoor pool is good but small for the size of the resort and it gets crowded. Has a nice free sauna.
The location is good 10-12 min walking to the cabin lift. Apart hotels give you the freedom to take a rest and to prepare a tea, to eat food that you're used to eat. Good for vacacione with family and children and for longer stay, not just a weekend. The free parking is an advantage too.
The apartment is very well positioned, across the street from Rila hotel, close to the ski lifts and restaurants.
During our stay it snowed every day, so having underground parking was really nice.
We would stay in the same place if we visit Borovets again.
Breakfast was awesome. Just awesome. Much better than many (and more expensive) hotels that I've stayed at in Borovets actually. Beds were nice and comfy. Room was clean and warm. Staff was quite friendly and helpful.
We are already the second time in this hotel, returning after 6 years.
Spa is great, pool is very nice, good restaurant (although much more expensive than in Borovets).
Overall we liked it a lot.
