Great location by the gardens. Nice design.
Service not up to 4 stars hotel. We had plenty of ants in the room. There were all over our baggage.
Location,spa and panoramic view.
The breakfast is divided into 5 menuus with supplements and not buffet-like. I wanted espresso coffee and they brought it to me from the bar and I payed for that, but one day was a price and another one was another price, there was no price list, no bill and no good explanation !
Friendly staff Nice location Peaceful environment
Inadequate/Overused towels Tacky interior design (mirrored celling above the bed) Limited breakfast choice
rooms are very beautiful
the personal and food from the pool
The view and amenities
The most relaxing, peaceful experience I've ever had on the Black Sea Coast!
Quiet, good size rooms with sea views, next to the local tourist attraction, the Palace and Gardens of Queen Marie.
The bathroom fittings were working below satisfactory level for a 4 star hotel. The "beach" was a pier above rocks, diminishing the experience of sun and sea-bathing. The breakfast was just supermarket long life (containing lots of preservatives) stuff, nothing to write home about, on the contrary.
Location ok Reception ok
Restaurant staff far below 4 stars standard: one morning we had to wait 1 hour for one of the standard breakfast. Food: some ok (eg mussels good) but some other not ok Spa facilities not really cleaned; employees were nice but there were not trained for spa services
Location, sea view, great balcony, comfortable room and bed
The shower area was not clean. There was mould in the corners and a variety of hair around. Also, the room was not cleaned proerly on our second day. With the exception of the spa staff and one of the waiters, we found that we were often ignored at reception and in the restaurants and had to be quite forceful to get any attention. We were on a motorbike tour and desperately needed some laundry done quickly but found it impossible to get a definite reply as to when we would get it back. Unable to have food and drink purchased at the pool bar added to the hotel bill. This was quite annoying.
Excellent breakfast and restaurants by the sea. Pleasant pool with children's area. Rooms are adequate size with balcony and excellent views. The walking promenade extends into Balchik
Final approach by car is along the seafront amongst people walking. This access is also used by delivery vehicles and the odd motorbike at night. Children and some people might like a wider beach.
The location of the hotel was excellent, considering the amazing views from the room, restaurant and everywhere near it. Despite other comments here on booking, we actually enjoyed our breakfast; there weren't many breakfast options to choose from, though they were tasty and enough for a good start of the day; the coffee and the cappuccino were delicious, couldn't get enough of them! very convenient for visiting the main attractions in Balcik, as next door there was the castle and those fascinating gardens of it.
The most unpleasant experience was seeing some bugs on the bathroom floor and in the shower. This actually happened two days in a row, despite the receptionist having assured us that they'd take care of the issue immediately..also, the desk drawer in the room had some ugly hairs and dust in, quite grouse, but we eventually got a 10% discount of our bill from the manager, for all this trouble.. Another thing that you must take into consideration if you book a room here, is the long walk to the center, when you want to find somewhere to eat lunch or dinner, or just go shopping, There's a quite long alley, which you have to cover, about 20 mins walk, which can be tiring if you do it frequently. Even if you go by car, like we did, you can''t reach the taverns and shops by car, so don't count on it too much while in Balcik.
The view is fantastic, the quality of the beds is excellent, the breakfast is tasty, the tourists are well taken care. The prices are reasonable even on high season. Mariana, the Chief receptionist remained the same nice helpful person as she was four years ago. Other staff are also very nice and helpful.
I used the SPA once or twice and I was not impressed. Maybe things have already improved.
Great location, near the sea, very quiet, great staff, great restaurant, good prices in the restaurant.
The cleaness, although the cleaning ladies pass every day y the rooms and change the towels, the carpet is not cleaned, the terrace is also somehow dirty.
the location is excellent; the room was large and nice; the breakfast was very good and all the facilities are well designed and we've enjoyed the possibility to test the spa, the sauna, the inside and outside pools, etc.
Perfect destination. But the ratio price/services is a little bit great.
The attitude of the restaurant employees.
We enjoyed the quiet location and privacy of the hotel. It is much nicer than these big impersonal hotels that you can find in neighbouring resorts like Albena or Golden Sands.
Love this place: Great Hotel, Great Location, Lovely Rooms, Good Service, Nice Pool Area, Good Restaurant
Some maintance work is needed on the balconies: the bars and towel hangers are a bit rusty and look ugly.
Unproper door for bathroom, that seems a bit unconfortable.
Everything was perfect, also the food at the restaurant from the hotel was great. I shall return there for sure!
Very good hotel, nice staff, very good personal on Spa.
The Spa facility closed tot early.
We love this hotel situated a few meters from the sea and from the gardens. It was our second time when spending a short holiday in this place. Both times, the hotel and all the related services were perfect.
Nothing to be mentioned here :)
Hotel is 10m from the sea and 100 m from the palace and the botanical garden. Very friendly staff. Clean rooms with nice view to the sea. Due to the low season, we had the internal pool for ourselves !
restaurant offers very poor choice for vegetarians
The hotel is placed nearby the sea and close to Queen Marie’s Castel. All rooms are facing the sea. The interior design is very nice, somehow modern though lacking finishing details. The room is very clean and the bathroom amenities are plentiful – almost anything one may need, including a dental kit.
The finishing details are very poor, with the toilet flush button hardly hanging on the wall. The hole that should have been covered by the buttons was clearly visible, as well as the installation behind the wall. The shower drain was almost clogged, so the water was building up quicker than it was draining. But the worst thing: it was impossible to have a proper night’s rest because of the party taking place almost all night long in the hotel restaurant. As our camera was situated at the first floor above the restaurant, the music was loud enough to keep you awake. What was even more shocking was the attitude of the hotel staff. They didn’t seem to feel in anyway responsible for the huge inconvenient created, nor try to find any solution. I was told that there’s not much that can be done as there is a party taken place in the hotel restaurant. We had booked a double room and since no other double room is available in the hotel but the one above the restaurant, there’s nothing to be done. As if a natural disaster was just happening in front of our eyes and there was nothing to be done to stop it. While the lady at the reception tried to convince me that the party would not last for more than another half an hour, a waiter from the restaurant came in. He said Good evening in a very careless and rude way and began talking in Bulgarian with the lady at the reception. A conversation after which I was announced that the party will last for at least one more hour. As I Insisted on finding a solution, the only alternative given was another room, a twin one, but which had the air con broken. Eventually, among the two possible ways of how “not to rest” at night, we choose to keep the current room. At least the air con was working… All in all, it was a very unpleasant stay and anything but a relaxing weekend. If you cannot have a proper night’s rest, no hotel is worth staying in, not even a 4 stars hotel nearby the sea with rude, uncaring staff.
