Sofia is the Bulgarian capital and its largest city, situated at the foot of Vitosha Mountain in the very center of the Balkan Peninsula. With a variety of architectural styles, picturesque scenery and easy access to outdoor activities, this city is a definite must-see!
From well-preserved city walls built in the 7th century BC through to the early Medieval buildings. From the 4th-century Rotunda St. George and 10th-century Boyana Church with its stunning 13th-century frescoes to Socialist-era monumental constructions, Sofia is a real treat for history lovers.
Most of the popular landmarks are located in the Oborishte district, the most central part of the city featuring plenty of greenery, cobbled streets and the most popular landmark, the Neo-Byzantine Alexander Nevsky Cathedral.
Sofia has plenty of natural sites too, including the renowned thermal and mineral springs, the primary reason Thracians established the city here before the 7th century BC. Enjoy a walk in the most popular parks, the Borisova gradina or the impressive Vitosha Nature Park with more than 6,500 acres within the city limits.
From hiking to skiing on the Vitosha and from sightseeing to relaxing in mineral springs, Sofia has plenty of fun for everyone! On Booking.com you can find nearly 190 properties in the city, from 5-star central accommodations to convenient hotels near Sofia Airport.
Lovely place. Peaceful and quiet. Not very clean. Lots of antiquities everywhere in the city center. Lovely museum under the church of St Alexander Nevski. Beautiful blossoming trees in the beginnings of March, many decorated with red-and-white ribbons for celebrating the start of the spring.

We had two full days in Sofia and that was enough.
We had two full days in Sofia and that was enough. We saw all of the attractions on the first day and spent the whole day walking around the city. The first day it was cold but sunny all day. The second day was cloudy and very cold wind.

It is a very nice city for a short gateway.
It is a very nice city for a short gateway. The negative thing I would say is that in general, Bulgarians are a bit rude although obviously this is just the general perception, I did meed super nice people who were willing to help you, others....didn't really bother to even look at you.

People are friendly, lots of nice restaurants and bars, some cool free tour options, cute and walkable city center. Our flight got in late and we discovered that all kitchens in the city close at 22, despite longer opening hours on Google maps. Generally Google maps is not always up to date in Sofia. Nevertheless we had two great, albeit freezing cold days there!

Nice, cozy town, lots of things to do - taking a long walk in the downtown, visit awesome museums, affordable shopping options, great restaurants and food, great bars and nightlife, mountain at the outskirts... You don't need a car at all - just hop on the metro and you can go to any location worth visiting!

i love Sofia. i will come back for sure. i was many times but i still want to come back. it is disturbing that smoking is everywhere again but for many people this is a plus. but definitely not for me.
i was to a great concert at JOY STATION very nice venue.
Due to frequent visits to Bulgaria and the schedule of return flights, a one-night stop at the Best Western Premier Hotel has already become a tradition for our family before flying home. And we have always been satisfied with the quality of rest and services provided by this hotel.
Separately, I want to express my sincere gratitude to the hotel administration for the pleasant surprise that awaited us at the current stop at the hotel: a free room upgrade. This gesture was not only pleasant, but also very helpful.
I booked this hotel for my mom - she is temporarily extremely disabled after an accident in Bulgaria and I informed the front desk clerk that she might need extra help, as she was traveling back alone after an accident. Anthony went above and beyond to make her feel comfortable and provide her with whatever she needed. He kept me updated the entire stay, and made me feel 100% better after a stressful few days worrying about her. I really can't thank the staff here enough.
Always the best music is played in the lobby, and i like it because is moderate place not a party hostel but yet not boring, the guy on the reception is the most caring person. The cleaning is on a deferent level and theres a central heating system this is my 5th time coming here during my stay in Bulgaria and tried other hosyels before i descover bla bla and Dali and ill come back again when ill come in Sofia!
You couldn’t ask for a better location. It is right in the city centre and the pedestrianised street of Vitosha is right on your doorstep. A lot of attractions can be explored on foot. The hotel is sorrounded by loads of restaurants. Cactus which is a highly rated restaurant is 3 minutes walk and the traditional Bulgarian restaurant Moma is also about 5 minutes walk. The room was massive and it was so quiet.
The staff at the hotel were very nice; cheerful and helpful. The location is also not bad and can be accessed from city centre by foot. The hotel may be small but they tried to be careful and considerate with tiny details. Toiletries, coffee and 2 bottles of water were provided in the room. They also arrange for coffee and small Bulgarian bread/pastries in the morning.
I very like breakfast and a nice cozy breakfast room.
One of the employees-male was very kind and he was explaining to me a lot about the history of Sofia and Bulgaria. He knows to speak English since others barely know some words. I think that each hotel should have staff having at least minimum English knowledge. This one needs to improve a lot.
All good, location in the center. The receptionist speaks Italian, which was great to communicate. Breakfast included, which is coffee, a croissant and one egg (I would add a Bulgarian yogurt, they are great). Get in touch with the property by booking.com to schedule the check-in, as the receptionist is not always there.
One of the best hotel not only in Bulgaria but in Europe! Nice design. Big comfortable rooms . A wonderful SPA . Very classy Italian restaurant with good crowd . Very friendly and professional staff! Good location 10 minutes froM the street with shops and nice and plenty coffee shops Vitoshka street
Perfect location, a very short walk from the metro station and the city centre. Friendly, helpful staff. Free breakfast with nice rolls and good coffee. Excellent value for money. Clean, spacious room with a balcony. I'd stay there again and again. Best wifi in Bulgaria.
After a week in the Bulgarian mountains, this hotel offered all the luxury we wanted - the rooms are big and clean with great views, the beds - comfy, the bathroom - clean and luxurious. We ate in the Mediterranean restaurant and it was excpetional. Would 100% recommend.
The room was clean, big enough for two people. The view on on side of the building wasn't so interesting. They offer you coffee in your room every day. Confortable beds, clean blankets. Hotel close to the metro not far from the city center and the main attractions.
We spent one night at andesite boutique residence hotel, while traveling through Bulgaria, we had a great time, the room was clean and well equipped, beautiful furniture, the host was a lovely woman she was very kind and helpful! Thank you! 💜
The apartment is located close to the center . I requested for my baby a crib they also offered baby sheets and baby blanket . The owner was really kind and he recommended us to eat at a fantastic restaurant with traditional Bulgarian food .
the place was for Bulgarian standard very very clean that you do not see a lot
the room was not so big but for my purpose and the time of year good. Very friendly and warm
i would recommend it to other people and if needed i will go again
Everything I personally like is provided at breakfast including soy milk and tomato juice. Also an assortment of Bulgarian pastries. Breakfasts are delicious, rooms spacious and modern.
Staff are very kind and helpful.
The host was extremely helpful and accommodating.
The apartment itself is the perfect combination of traditional Bulgarian folklore decoration and modern style.
The bed was extremely comfy as well.
The staff was very helpful and friendly even though they spoke mostly Bulgarian, they made our stay much more enjoyable. The decoration and the design of the hotel was strange but interesting.
Perfect place,very close to the center(5 minutes walking)clean rooms,very frendly staff,its clean
Have a super bar and chill music all day 👌(thanks for the bulgarian beer 👍
