During the 12-14th centuries, it became the most significant political, economic, cultural and religious centre of Bulgaria. Later, Tarnovo was a symbol of the former Bulgarian state system and a stronghold of the Bulgarian national spirit. During the Bulgarian National Revival period in the second half of the 18th and 19th centuries the town was an important administrative, trade and industrial centre.
After the Liberation from the Ottoman domination in 1877, Tarnovo played a significant role in the political, administrative and cultural formation of independent Bulgaria. In 1879, Bulgaria became independent for the second time. The Constituent Assembly drafted the supreme fundamental laws of the nation - the Tarnovska Constitution. In 1990, the 7th Grand National Assembly was established and there, in the same place as over 100 years ago, the new Constitution of Bulgaria was finalised. The modern Veliko Tarnovo is rich in many cultural museums and monuments and architectural preserves. Every year the town is visited by thousands of tourists from Bulgaria and from abroad.

This is more of a guest house than a hotel, but none the worse the worse for that. My room was characterful, spotlessly clean and had a great view out over the valley. WiFi worked perfectly and the staff were friendly and helpful. It was a bit difficult to find and my taxi driver had to consult another driver before we set off. However having found it it is in a good city centre location and easy to refind once you know where it is. |

Close to the city center. Cheap, clean. The prize in booking.com was in euro but they accept only leva. So, we charged 4euro more. The parking place was too small for one of our cars. The bathroom was common in the whole floor. |

It was very cool, the rooms are clean and the hotel is situated between old town and new town.There are a lot of good restaurants, and the food is cheap. |

The room was large and very clean. The location however was the main asset...right on the gorge and within walking distance of the old town and the castle. It was hard to find...memorize the photograph so it will be easier to locate. |

Die Mitarbeiter waren sehr nett, das Zimmer war sehr sauber, die Aussicht auf die Stadt ist super, die Lage des Hotels ist sehr zentral - in der Altstadt gelegen und gut zu erreichen, Restaurants und Einkaufsmöglichkeiten in der Nähe - Hotel ist außerdem durch das sehr gute Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis zu empfehlen. Die Chefin war sehr unfreundlich und bestand auf Zahlung des Zimmerpreises in Euro statt in Landeswährung. |

La amabilidad del personal. Es un hotelito céntrico (genial la situación) a muy buen precio. No tiene gran cosa porque es un hotel de paso, pero las habitaciones son amplias y están muy limpias. La ducha sale directamente del lavabo, lo que hace que todo el baño sea la ducha y al final es un poco engorroso. Es algo típico de los hoteles búlgaros y no pasa nada porque el baño está muy limpio y es nuevo. |
