Villa Stresov was rebuilt in 1996 as a 5-star luxury property by the Bulgarian-American family of Marianne Djidrova Nielsen, a granddaughter of the Stresovs, and Philip R. Nielsen, her husband, in its original Swiss style used 70 years earlier.

The elegant Villa Stresov is the perfect mountain setting. Imported upscale décor and equipment are featured, including flat-panel high definition TVs and minibars in each guest room. Its ultra-modern kitchen, adjacent to the paneled dining room and bar, is ideal for preparing and serving delicious meals or entertaining. The live-in caretakers provide impeccable personal service. The chalet radiates luxury and charm in carrying on a proud tradition of hospitality initiated by the founding Stresov family in the 1920s.

The villa is landscaped and has a garden, lawn, hammock, patio, summer lawn furniture, BBQ House, gazebo, 6-people Hot Spring Spa, 2-level fountain, and bath house, 2-car garage and parking lot. Separately placed lights illuminate the grounds by night.

Villa Stresov offers a generous and carefully prepared complimentary breakfast, served in the dining room. It includes juices, fruit, cheeses, sausage, bread, yogurts, eggs, cereals, tea, coffee and other items.

Villa Stresov also offers an elegant afternoon high tea consisting of French champagne, delicious fresh cake and a selection of tea and coffee. This treat has to be ordered in advance and is available for an additional fee.

On the third floor, the Villa Stresov has 4 cozy, tastefully decorated bedrooms to accommodate 8 people. Each bedroom has its own private tiled bathroom with a shower (2 with whirlpool tubs), thermostatically controlled shower stall, terry cloth robes and fluffy towels. Each bedroom also features a flat screen HDTV and offers beautiful views. Additionally there are smoke detectors, security sensors and an intercom.

Borovets is Bulgaria's most popular mountain resort area for many reasons. It lies at the foot of Mount Musala in the northern part of the Rila Mountains, at an altitude of 4,430 ft above sea level, 45 miles southeast of Sofia.
