The highlight of the trip was the amazing GOLD floor that our room was on. It said "continental breakfast" but the breakfast was amazing with hot entrees and fruit and all you could want. Then there was afternoon tea, canapes and evening desserts! The staff was so nice! They were right there with anything we asked for!
It rained, but nothing the Fairmont could do about that!

The location of the property, the poor beach, the hotel prices for coffee food etc. Coffee is $3.00 in the am before 11:00am, after which in the same location it goes up to $7.00
Hotel itself- majestic, location, grounds, layout, choice of restaurants, the dining room Maître De & bartender, Robert. Also, hotel guest liason, Cheryl-Lynn Wolf. We have been praying for Bermuda & it's people during & after the Horrendous hurricane! We were guests during Tropocal Storm Fay - that was scary.
NOTHING!! We were in Bermuda in Oct. 1964 @ Harmony Hall for our honeymoon - came back for our 50th Wedding Anniversary!

The staff are NOT hospitable Concierge are dismissive Low end toiletries Decor is stale, old , unmatched, smelly (like your grandmothers flowery perfume) It is a CONVENTION CENTER!! not a resort. You are hussled in, no customer service, they take your money quickly, gratuity is already added to EVERYTHING so no one cares if they provide good service. Disappointed!!

Cost of room
The room I had was fantastic in size, cleanliness and view
Happy to see they upgraded the suites and the decor is up to date but still keeping with the quaint Bermuda feel. Location is excellent in Southhampton, close to the beaches. Food is well above average at all the restaurants we ate at (Newport Room, Jasmine, Wickets, the main breakfast dining room). All staff are friendly and helpful, and concierge helpful with dinner and activity reservations.
The variety of fees and taxes that you get charged were a shocker. Bermuda charges the usual tourism fees and occupancy tax (~ $22/night), the resort charges a nightly 'resort levy' ($22/night), PLUS a surprising "room gratuity" of $20.40/night, which I found excessive. Not sure what these fees contribute towards considering they automatically add 17% tip on food/drinks, and would think that the resort levy covers housekeeping gratuity. Seems like a easy cash grab. They should run for government.

The hotel seemed over-crowded. When we drove up to the hotel, we were greeted by a very large throng of people waiting for taxis, it seemed loud and disorganized, and I feared we made a big mistake by choosing to stay here again. The restaurants, especially the one in the hotel lobby, was sorely understaffed, and I felt as though I were in a free-food line in Vegas. Too many people not being waited on or checked out efficiently. Too bad. This is a fabulous property, but it also needs an update. Colors are faded on interior carpets and furniture, and it looks tired.
This hotel is luxurious and has many restaurants to choose from with well prepared food. I especially recommend the fish and seafood. It is clean, spacious, well maintained, and has all the amenities needed for a relaxing stay. It's fitness centre is impressive.
Noisy air conditioning system was only drawback of our stay.
The scenery, water, weather, the shuttles to take us to the restaurants and beach and the warm greetings from everyone. Feeling like Bermuda was a very special place and only a 1 1/2 hour flight from NC. Enjoyed the ferry ride to Hamilton and visiting the capital and Front Street.
The beach was too crowded and not enough shade available. We could not enjoy a steak at the steak restaurant on the dock.

Paying for wireless service seemed out of bounds considering the overall costs. Annoying really.
There is a daily room gratuity that is added to the final bill of which we were not aware when we made the reservation on booking.com. This should have been added to the list of additional items not included in the price at time of booking. An unpleasant surprise.
The site provided most facilities needed for a short break. Wonderful food and venues and a beautiful setting.
The staff were as nice as any I have ever dealt with. The beach was very good. The ferry and shuttles were great to have.
Our initial room was of the roof. The website showed a beach view but stated the view was partially blocked. This should be stated clearly that your room choice has no view. Access to the fitness facilities should be free, most resorts and hotel offer this without charge.
