La Paz is a big city with a lot of people and many homes.
La Paz is a big city with a lot of people and many homes. It has a high altitude, recommend altitude pills. The city has varying heights, for instance you are going up and down a mountain to get to the other side of the city. When you are on top you can see the bowl with many many houses. There is a cable car to take you from the bottom of the mountain and one neighborhood to the top of the mountain to another neighborhood. There are several beautiful landscapes in La Paz. Valley of the moon, valley of the souls, etc... There is also a lot of shopping in the city.

An authentic South American large city still evolving.
An authentic South American large city still evolving. Everywhere you go you realized this is not for tourists, this is really a nation which has its own identity and you feel it in everything. If you don't speak Spanish then get ready to learn. People very friendly, and living history everywhere. Leave a day for the 2 hour trip to the jungle area for the La Senda Verde animal rescue area.

La Paz: A 3-day whirlwind!
La Paz: A 3-day whirlwind! Explored history on a city tour, felt the passion of a football match, embraced culture in El Alto markets, conquered fear on Death Road, and soared above in the teleférico. Bolivia's heart revealed in a compact, unforgettable adventure.

La Paz is in a unique situation, surrounded by the Andes.
La Paz is in a unique situation, surrounded by the Andes. Its cable car transport system is both practical and a spectacular treat for tourists. It is far better to use this than to use ground transport; the roads in the city are chaotic. The people are friendly and helpful, there are very good restaurants. From La Paz a traveller has access to amazing places to visit, from Lake Titicaca, at over 4000 metres above sea level, to the Yungas, which form part of the Amazonian basin forest system. You have to be careful to have a heart and blood-pressure check before visiting La Paz, as its altitude can be stressful for anyone with a heart condition. But I have been there on a number of occasions, and find it fascinating. The street life and the many local gifts based on alpaca and llama wool are two special features.

Unique setting of the city with striking views and snow...
Unique setting of the city with striking views and snow covered Illimany on the background. We had one day and spent it driving cable cars and celebrating St. John in the park.

Location was great! Walking distance from Church Santo Domingo, calle Linares, and so close to the Red cable car station. Loved the local art around the Hotel, and inside the rooms. All painted and decorated. They have a restaurant on site, and elevators. The breakfast was good. Served at the 4th floor, with a view of the city.
Joana at the Reception was amazing! Very attentive to our needs, and very helpful at all times. I was allowed to check in early after a long overnight trip from Uyuni to La Paz! Very much appreciated.
The street is well taken care of, very clean and colorful. People are always taking pictures on that street, so there is a general feeling of happiness. The "Casa" itself is cute and has a cool colonial ambiance. The people working in the hotel were helpful and flexible. We had to leave our luggage in between trips to Huayna Potosi and a short visit to Cochabamba. They allowed us to keep part of our luggage in their storage room. This made it easy to travel, and it felt that it was our home base in Bolivia.
The location is really convenient. Easily reachable in about half an hour from La Paz airport, and even quicker from the bus station (you may be arriving from Uyuni, for instance, by bus). The Mercado de las Brujas (the witches market), one of the main attractions in La Paz, is within walking distance. Many dining options are nearby. The receptionist was friendly, and could speak English. The walls inside the room were really colourfully painted (a bit overdone, in my opinion!).
The original stone and brick decor was like stepping back into earlier years of Bolivian life. The rooms were comfortable, beds and bedding great, and a newly remodeled bathroom. The restaurant area was cozy and warm and inviting after a cold day touring. The staff was one of the highlights. Alevino, the manager, went above and beyond to make us breakfast to go and help us with a travel cancelation. Highly recommend!
The room was very comfortable, spacious and clean, it also had a really nice view. The hotel had a great restaurant with delicious food. Breakfast was great, with many options to choose from, and you could also ask the cook for omelet or scrambled eggs. The staff was very friendly and happy to help us with everything we needed. We had an awesome stay there, totally recommend staying there if you're going to La Paz.
Hotel is a bit run-down and dated, but for the price is a good deal. Excellent location across from the bus terminal and as close as you can reasonably get to the airport. Excellent rooftop bar/restaurant with great vibes -- definitely a highlight! Staff were also super nice and welcoming and helped me with everything I asked for. Would stay again for a night before or after transiting La Paz.
Large rooms and bathroom. Unusually large bed (for three). Quiet. Great views from the windows. Best breakfast in Bolivia. Best tasting fried eggs, big variability of everything, they even had bacon and oats.
Receptionist organised a tour to Chacaltaya for a 100BS per person. As well booked a taxi for a very early morning and taxi was waiting outside as expected.
Breakfast was excellent. the staff was ready to prepare a wonderful omelette or a superb fruit salad.
The hotel is part of an old fransiscan monastery and is full of colonial and bolivian history.
The staff is really welcoming. Since our bus was only departing at night, we are allowed to wait in the hotel.
The breakfast was in the restaurant at the top of the hotel with picture windows all around showing a gorgeous view of the city and the mountains. The breakfast was perfect, the coffee made to order and some of the best I've had in Bolivia.
Breakfast was way better than anywhere else in Bolivia, amazing stay, but most of all the staff was the nicest and most helpful I have seen in my travelling. Absolutely deserves all the best ratings.
A very basic hotel but good value for the price. Breakfast was fine. The room was basic but clean as was the bathroom. Best shower we've had in Bolivia. The location is great for exploring the city.
Location was great, right next to everything g there is to see in La Paz and felt very safe. Breakfast was very good. Staff was friendly. Room was gorgeous as was the entire building.
Nice rooftop restaurant with an incredible, good lunch for 20 bolivianos and breakfast if you pay 10-15 bolivianos more. very comfy beds with curtains, perfect for a good night sleep.
Really nice hotel in the center of La Paz, close to most of the sites that you wouldn’t want to miss while being there. Breakfast is served at a rooftop bar, overlooking La Paz.
place is really nice. location is perfect to enjoy the southern part of La paz. plenty of things to do around that neighborhood. close to bars and restaurants.
Location is perfect for travellers, we travelled Bolivia by bus and the station is right out the front. Great view from the rooftop and the food was lovely.
