We stayed here for 4 nights mid November 2014. The place is super clean, great kitchen, good communal areas, BBQ for guest use, hundreds of films to choose from but what really makes the place is the staff. Javier and all the staff make you feel incredibly welcome and will help you any way they can. Great place to stay!
Nice room. Quiet common area as most guests are out on tours.
Poor kitchen facilities. Quite often nobody at reception.
Hostel is clean and easy to find as the bus goes past it on the main road. Breakfast was nice. Shower was great - hot water and good pressure. I read other peoples reviews before staying - about the staff being unfriendly and rude to those that didn't do tours with them etc but they have obviously taken this feedback on board as there were people there not doing salt flat tours that were still welcome to eat early with us etc. The staff were occasionally shy or quiet but never rude - perhaps just a language barrier. I would stay again and I highly recommend the salt flat tour - George and Gloria were amazing. We felt completely safe and we had a lot of fun - I will never forget it
We also booked the horse riding tour through the hotel. The horses were undernourished and unhappy. The location for horse riding is mesmerizing but try another company as whoever the hotel goes through (perhaps they don't know the state of the horses) is not good. There were other tour groups on strong beautiful horses nonetheless I don't think the hotel can be held completely accountable for this.
- Rooms are OK. - Breakfast is good without being great.
- Far from city center. - Can be very hot if sun comes to your room. - Staff not very welcoming.
Location is ok, a bit out of town, but if you walk up you have a nice view.
Service could have been a lot better, not serving breakfast just because you're 5 minutes late (we even wanted to pay for it) is a missed opportunity. Don't think we'll come back again. Just because there are hostels just as good (or even better) as this place and they are in the town centre.
Laundry service. Really clean and fast
Room is not attended, no clean towels if staying more than one night. Only pancake for breakfast and time lap of breakfast is extremely limited And minute-wise strict applied. Owner/lady at reception unfriendly.
Away from main streets. Hotel was clean. Good blankets for cold weather. Option to purchase tours onsite. We did 3 hours horse riding and the salad de uyuni trip through hostel. Was great.
They need a fridge in kitchen or dining room for guests to use. Breakfast wasn't set up for two of our 3 day stay. It didn't bother us but if you are expecting it you may want to confirm with staff.
Clean, tidy, efficient and with helpful staff. An unexpected pleasure.
Nice hostel, separated from the center of the town by a big river. The rooms are big and clean, and the staff is ok. I recommend their tour, which I did not do but I paid much more in a different agency and saw the group of my hotel during all the tour enjoying a much better service than mine.
The breakfast is from 8:30, which is not super cool since they know that every tour departs at 8. When we woke up at 7:30, they were serving breakfast to all the clients who booked the tour with them but us...
location was pretty cool set into a cliff face.
Showers didn't have hot water some nights. No heating in room (freezing in winter). Poor service of staff not making us breakfast, but making it for others in the hostal???
This is an awesome hostel with a very homey feel. The couple who run it are kind and friendly and serve delicious, varied breakfasts each morning. While its out of the centre of town, its only a short walk and I as a single, female traveller felt fine walking around Tupiza at any time of the day or night. As long as youre not looking for a super-social hostel (I only met one other traveller during my 2 night stay) this place is awesome value for money, the showers are hot and its super clean.
Rooms are spacious, bathrooms very big with good hot water. Nice sunny area outside to sit in the afternoon sun. The 1/2 day horse riding tour offered was very good and was arranged the night before with no problem.
Location is across the river away from the town, around a 15 min walk. Rooms were very cold at night with no heating. Owner pushed us a little to book a salt flats tour with him, but we went with another company. Most salt flats tours leave at 8am in the morning and breakfast only starts at 8:30 so you will miss it on your departure.
We arrived at 4:00am and they had saved the room for us. The kitchen was nice so we made a nice evening meal. The wifi was strong throughout our stay. We were given a map on arrival.
No shower curtain in the private showers meant that our bathroom was very wet all the time.
Owner is friendly - has has secure parking. Bed nice and firm - place is immaculate. Location - nice and quiet
WiFi isn't quick, but was reliable.
Bedding and bathroom were clean. Hot showers Decent breakfast
Far away from the center Bathroom's toilet smell was so rank we couldn't stay in there for too long
This was a nice place to chill and relax. Wifi is good. Rooms are simple but clean. Towels are provided in the private rooms. The roof terrace has an amazing view for sunset. Its a little out of town so the road noise is minimal, and the lack of lights are night are good for star gazing
The staff were friendly, but very very pushy about doing the salt flats tour with them! If you tell them you are booked through another company they get rude and ignore you.
Just ok hostal, booked 4 days uyuni trip at reception: good, responsible driver and nice cook, great mountain scenery, very basic accomodations
Room at hostal very tiny and cold, strong chemical smell in bathroom
Good value for money, breakfast was good (bread, ham, cheese, jams, coffee, tea...) brought to you.
Feeling a little pressured of buying their tours, which we did not do in the end.
The staff at this hostel were extremely friendly and helpful. The shower was excellent which is not always the case in Bolivia. The breakfast was above average, one day pancakes, the next day scrambled eggs. We booked a 5 hr horse ride through the hostel & had an amazing day.
