Just 2 blocks from Sucre’s main square, the inn offers a charming colonial courtyard with a water fountain and red-tiled Spanish galleries. The tour desk can assist guests looking for volunteer work.

The location and style of the building was awesome there is so much potential for this to be an amazing hostel. Breakfast was good but the same every morning.
In our 5 night stay there was no servicing of the rooms so bathrooms were not cleaned at all. The beds were uncomfortable some broken and with bad mattresses and pillows. Very noisy in the road facing rooms as it is on a busy corner.
A short walk to the main centre. The day receptionist was very pleasant and helpful. The courtyard attractive and clean.
When we arrived Sunday afternoon the young lady showed us to a twin room even though we had booked a double. When we insisted on a double room she took us to one that quite obviously had not been cleaned. I asked her to sweep the floor but I ended up doing it myself. Then she could not find any towels and thought it was a joke to keep as waiting. The stair handrails had dirty towels hanging all over them - one of which she used to clean our bathroom floor. The shower when you use it runs all over the bathroom floor - we ended up gaffer taping it to the wall. When asked for the wifi password we were given an incomplete one so had to go back down to see her. I owned my owned accommodation business in Australia and this young lady would be dismissed if found to be treating guests as she did us.
Great fresh breakfast, great location, great hot water
Really good wifi, lovely breakfast - buffet style with fresh fruit in large portions, excellent hot water supply.
Central location, very busy as you step out of the hostel. We got away without too much street noise as we were at the back of the courtyard but people talking until the early hours in the courtyard kept us awake. Booked a double room and were given a twin, very little space in the room, quite tired decor and very small tv, if this is important.
The location was good
There were some local Bolivians staying at the hotel who stayed up and played a trumpet until 4 in the morning and the Hotel did nothing at all until we were completely yelling at them (we are not sure but think that the staff may have eventually cut off the power just after 4am to get rid of them but by then the damage was done). No English either so we enjoyed pretending to play instruments to get what should have been a pretty clear complaint across (in fact I don't really think this is something that you should have to voice a complaint about I am sure most hotels would do something without having to complain). We think that they may have been joining in the festivities. This was our only major concern but it did really ruin our whole stay here as we had a bus to catch at 6 the next morning after only an hours sleep!
Very nice Hotel with a covered Patio.
This is the nicest hotel I stayed in in South - America. Very nice, clean room with all facilities. Helpful staff (Lisbet). I highly reccommend this hotel to anyone who visits beautiful Sucre! Excellent location, at 2 blocks from the Plaza.
I stayed 12 nights on this my 2nd time at Recoleta Sur. The staff was helpful and room #4 was pretty good and at the back of the courtyard away from the Sucre’s street noise.
But the WiFi was just so-so, sometimes unreliable and painfully slow. And my room was not cleaned for the last nine of 12 days I stayed there. Their credit card transactions were not working. The first time I stayed (a few weeks before), I charged my bill to one of my two VISA cards. This time, despite multiple tries over several days using both cards, I was unable to pay the bill with my charge card. So I needed to pay the 12 nights’ bill with cash, a challenge given Bolivia’s clunky banking system. The included breakfast on my first visit was very good, but this time the tasty, fresh french rolls had been replaced by boring panecitos, somedays so stale they could have been used a hockey pucks. The fruit selection varied from day to day, but usually such that the bananas and watermelon was just not there. The hotel continued to open its exterior doors on to the busy Calle Ravelo which allowed all the noise and smells of the morning rush hour traffic to dump into the breakfast dining room, destroying any relaxing ambience. I had taken to wearing earplugs but they did not stop even the the many honking horns and accelerating vehicle noise from being heard. Truly bizarre.
This hotel was such a surprise, its pretty and comfortable with clean and homely rooms. For the same price as some of the worst hotels in Bolivia. Easy location, five minutes from the main square, museum etc. Taxi ride to the bus station. Really great breakfast, best in Bolivia (fresh fruit instead of just bread). english language cnn! they let us rent a room for an extra half day, 2 beds for 4 people, just to keep our bags in and relax before our bus journey. most hotels insist upon 2 rooms.
I stayed three nights at Recoleta Sur. The staff was helpful and the room #4 was pretty good and at the back of the courtyard away from the Sucre’s street noise. I appreciated the desk and chair in the room so that I could set up my laptop.
The WiFi was just so-so, sometimes unreliable. The included breakfast was very good, featuring several varieties of fresh fruit and tasty, fresh french rolls. But for some odd reason the hotel insists on keeping the exterior doors open to the busy Calle Ravelo which allows all the noise and smells of the morning rush hour traffic to dump into the breakfast dining room, destroying any relaxing ambience. I had taken to wearing earplugs but even then the many honking horns and accelerating vehicle noise jars. Truly bizarre.
Fruits for breakfast Quit but central
Shower dirty Not always hot water Service often non-existent Breakfast only availabe on demand (during regular hours)
Nice helpful staff. Beautiful building in good location. Good value for money.
Very nice inside garden gallery. The rooms are ok but outdated, refurbishment needed. Sucre is a beautiful city and the hotel is very well located.
The staff doesn't speak much English. The breakfast was a little disappointing. It is very noisy with the traffic and the gallery.
