Excellent location, close to the main square; Exciting tour to silver mine - highly recommended
Cold room, water in the shower hardly lukewarm, uncaring, unhelpful staff
This is for sure the oldest building we ever stayed in! We paid extra for the private room with bathroom and it was large and excellent. Ask for room #2, it is above the lobby area where the free WiFi is located. We were able to get WiFi in our room, where as other rooms cannot get WiFi. Large covered courtyard area for people gathering. Buffet breakfast with juice, bread, yoghurt, banana, apple sauce, coffee/tea.
You have to ask at the reception for every single spoon/ plate/ pan etc you need It was cold in the whole hostel and the showers downstairs were cold, too, but you couldn't take a shower anyway because there was almost no water coming out..
Beautiful building in a decent location, free wifi is good in theory. Silver mine tour is a MUST
Unfriendly staff, dirty rooms, serious nickle-and-diming (5 BOB to watch a movie?). Not enough bathrooms for the number of tenants, and all the toilets are next to a shower inside a locking stall, so if someone is in the shower or the toilet, you can´t use the other. Find somewhere else.
Only 2 showers between many dorm rooms.
No atmosphere. Silly rules like leaving a deposit to use the kitchen. 1 Power socket in a 10 bed dorm.
nice setting, central location
Bathroom door broken, no hot water, not very friendly staff, coupons to get breakfast
Close to the plaza, easy to book mine tour. The mine tour with the hostel was fantastic.
The breakfast was foul. Bread was very stale and not much else was offered apart from a few bananas or some yoghurt. The bed was very uncomfortable and the bathrooms were always dirty. There was no hot water and the wifi only worked properly in reception.
This beautiful hostel was in a colonial building right near the central square and anything significant in Potosi. Staff were really helpful in this professionally run and cheap hostel full of class and character.
They were a bit a anal to say the least, about who could enter the kitchen and when. It was more just for professionally run breakfast sessions by staff: which required a ticket.
Location. Price. Hot shower mid afternoon.
Staff went out of their way to be unhelpful. It must have been an effort. Bathrooms were dirty and were constantly "pooling" what I hope was water. Beds were saggy and hard. Pillows were old, flat and the stuffing had started to ball. Breakfast was ordinary. The bread was akin to styrofoam. My ten bed dorm had one power socket which was broken. Every PowerPoint and light switch I had to use throughout the property was broken. To switch on the light in my room you had to push your finger into the wall cavity to find a broken plastic switch. The bathroom lights did not work. The main battery charging point was from a power board that was inexplicably placed just inside the always open front door of the property. The guided tour of the silver mine organised by the hostel was on par with the efforts of management. An absolute joke of a hostel. No idea whatsoever and they have no interest in finding out. Please, stay somewhere else. There are better park benches in town.
The only thing good in this hostel is the fact you will spend a 5 minutes’ walk to go everywhere. It is just near the main place of the town.
The staff is really unpleasant. Do not think about having help to plan a trip neither to have an advise for a restaurant or anything. They just do not have time and continue to watch their TV. You will be able to have a hot (little warm) shower only if you are the first person of the hostel to reach the bathroom. If you are not this “winner of the day” you will have a completely cold shower. Concerning the breakfast, it is not a breakfast! Just hot water or coffee for the first 10 people arriving. We are almost 15-20 people in the hostel. Last point, from 10pm, all the hostel is completely locked (the only entrance door too). If you just want to smoke a cigarette after 10pm, you have to wake the “receptionist” up (a guy sleeping in a sleeping bag on the main coutch of the reception) asking if he can open the door … In brief, 3 nights of very bad experience here (I had never be the “winner of the day” so 3 very cold shower). I really don’t recommend this hostel at all!
- Price very competitive. - Close to the city center.
- Rooms are a bit small, and can be very cold and humid at night. - Staff is not very welcoming and helpful.
Poor breakfast, freezing rooms. Not that cheap.
Friendly and helpful staff, Wi-Fi worked well.
10:30am check out is too early.
Good location Nice room - hot showers and heating Wifi was good Can arrange mine tours easily from the hotel
Staff could have been more pleasant I had to wait to check in until 3pm
We were not given the room promised. The old bait and switch. There was no heat in the room and it was cold. The floor in the bathroom was continuously wet. There was mold on the ceiling. Towels were stiff and smelled like never washed. The bed was hard like a board and very old. Avoid this hostel. Booking.com should not promote this hostel if they want to keep their customers. This is a hostel not a hotel as advertised on Booking.com. The picture is misleading the building is not on a corner but in the middle of the block and flat to the street.
Safe, good location, clean bathroom
We didnt get the room weve booked, nb said as much as sorry for the inconvenience (we paid as much as wed pay for the one we wanted). Breakfast was served poorly - the staff seemed uninterested in providing extra glasses and food when it was over....
Breakfast was horrible. Room was smelling awful and the bed was dirty. Water stays on the bathroom floor, we asked the staff if they could clean the bathroom and give us new towels, when we came back they cleaned the floor with the old towels which they hung back, that was disgusting. Also when we booked the room it said it was a hotel, but instead it is a hostel. We paid way to much for the room, others paid less. If you can, please avoid this hostel.
Location was great
Breakfast was terrible, staff didn't speak English as advertised, they weren't helpful at all, wifi was poor, bed sheets were dirty. This was the worst hostel we have stayed in throughout South America.
