Right next to Copacabana Beach, this modern hotel offers a panoramic rooftop pool and ocean views from most rooms. Gym, sauna and a fine restaurant are its highlights. Arena Copacabana is 5 blocks from Cardeal Arcoverde subway station, and guests can easily visit attractions like Ipanema Beach, 3 miles from the hotel. The Sugarloaf, Rodrigo de Freitas Lagoon and the Botanical Garden are all within 4 miles. The air-conditioned rooms at Arena Copacabana Hotel feature a 32-inch LCD TV, minibar, laptop safe and soundproofed windows. They all have Wi-Fi access. Some rooms do not offer a view. At Fennel Restaurant, guests enjoy a rich buffet breakfast with tropical items, plus contemporary Brazilian and international dishes. In addition, the hotel has poolside and indoor bars, where guests can order snacks and exotic cocktails. Hotel Rooms: 135

Very easy location to get to from the airport - bus stops along parallel avenue. Really poor value for money - definitely not a 4*. We were given a twin bed pushed together as a "double", the swimming pool is better described as a jacuzzi or paddling pool - it's absolutely tiny, the gym has 3 machines and no free weights, we ordered a pizza for 20 reals at the bar and got a microwave pizza with a few olives dropped on top, Internet costs 30 Reals per day even though it was free in all the other (cheaper) hotels we stayed in. Save your money and don't stay here - you won't get your money's worth.

The hotel staff were really helpful when we told them we wanted to cancel our booking and move to a different hotel. The photographs on booking.com's website make the rooms and pool area appear much larger than they actually are. The pool is more like a big bath - impossible to take a single stroke as it's about 6 paces long. The bedrooms are much smaller than they appear in the photos and are decorated like a cheap travel lodge in the uk with tacky fake veneer flooring and furniture. Really disappointed for such a high price!!

close to the beach and all amenities - breakfast was good - tv satelite chanels were good - the bed was large and comfortable - good shower the room we booked had no daylight - only windows looked out onto a shaft above the kitchen - the towels were poor quality - internet was ridiculously expensive - the equivalent of 10 pounds sterling per hour

The staff was very welcoming and accommodating, with great good humor {"Where are you from?" Washington dc. " Then you must be lawyers!!!" We are not, btw, so we thought this was hysterical!} The breakfast buffet was generous and tasty. Dina hosted the breakfast and the roof bar and was very nice. Reasonable price for the location and amenities. The dinner menu is not what it coud be and they keep the dining room too cold. They do not sell wine by the glass, only by half or full bottle.

Having stayed in several luxury hotels during our recent South American trip we found that the Arena provided a high level of facilities at an attractive and competitive price( assisted by bookings.com). It is ideally suited for ready access to Copacabana beach and the main shopping centre in Rio. The restaurant is very good although little English is spoken. Prices are competitive, food is very good and restaurant service first class. Portions are very generous indeed and if they were more modest visitors might be more inclined to add a second or third course to their meal. We had an unfortunate experience with hotel reception due to lack of communication and deviation from laid down hotel procedures which led to our lost baggage not being returned to us as soon as it might have been. This is an observation not a complaint. However reception and bellboy staff were largely extremely courteous and helpful and dealt with all our queries and requests for assistance expeditiously.

Location rigth on the beach. The hotel has a bar and a small pool in the upper floor with amazing views. There a few places in the world so nice to sit and be in a big city but so close to the sea and the green surrouding mountains. The staff is very helpful and made all the reservations and gave all the right information. Breakfast is very good.

The view from the room and from the dinning room The Reception Desk Staff was very friendly and customer service orientated. Though they were not very well informed about certain things about the city (such as where to find a good internet café close to the hotel) they always tried to find the required information, in a kind and helpful way. Not having an iron at the room. Any hotel of this kind and rates, has an iron and an ironing table at the rooms. I was travelling on business, and had to dress tidy, and could not iron my suits. And the ironing service was very expensive? Besides, it is not practical to do that. Internet service was too expensive.

Location is really good. There are supermarkets, bars, shops just few steps from the hotel. Guests are not allowed to the room and it was a problem for me... as plenty of opportunities were lost...

Nothing special about this hotel. Winston Excelsior was better, cheaper. Fast internet. Selling their bed of 1.40 m as King Size. Upgrade needed: I lost the special offer price. Asking about the internet: they did not tell me the complete offer. (Only the very expensive one) I found out myself.

The Arena Copa is very well situation in the middle of the Copa beach and has a very lovely roof terrace. The staff is friendly and the facilities are o.k. For a hotel in Brasil I would give it a good rating, as there was not much to complain about. If you are used to hotel only in Brasil, you will happy with the Arena Copa, but if you do expect the price/value relation at international standards, you are welcome to Brasil. With an average of USD 250 a night, you get just something basic, where in Singapore you would get a luxury suite. But thats the way how it is all over in Brasil, not only Rio.

This hotel exceeded our expectations . The staff were very friendly and went out of their way to help us in every possible way . The highlight of our stay was meeting the office manager Deborah who really loves both her job and her city and it showed ! Nothing was too much for her to do to make the guest's stay as enjoyable as possible . The hotel is in a prime position overlooking Copacabana Beach with a roof top terrace , pool and bar with a spectacular view over the bay and also lets you view Corcovado and the figure of the famous statue of Christ , the Redeemer . Excellent buffet breakfast and we would definitely stay there again .

We stayed in this hotel twice, once for 5 nights when we arrived and on the way back for 2 nights. Both times were excellent. Staff are helpful and speak good English, the rooms are clean and modern and the location is brilliant right in front of Copacabana beach.
