Belem is a once wealthy city that has fallen into decline.
Belem is a once wealthy city that has fallen into decline. Like many Brazilian cities, it has a serious crime problem, but unlike other Brazilian cities, it doesn't have the living behind walls feel that other cities have and has pretty good walkability, but that ever present feeling of crime is there so use common sense and don't be afraid to ask about safety. The residents are familiar with their city and will be honest as to where and when you can walk and where you should take Ubers instead. Architecture, historic and modern, is spectacular but often covered in graffiti and mildew with the latter the inevitable result of a city that was carved out of the Amazon Rain Forest. The cultural attractions like churches, museums, and gardens are incredible as are the markets. Belem restaurants have the best food I've eaten in Brazil and that alone is reason enough to visit. I was only there a few days, but I will go back. Beware, the heat and humidity in the day is brutal and expect torrential rains at any time, but at night, it's much more comfortable to be outside. Brazilians are some of most hospitable, laid back, and beautiful people on earth. Come here and enjoy the culture, hospitality, and beauty. You won't be disappointed.

We visited a very interesting park, the Mangal das Garças.
We visited a very interesting park, the Mangal das Garças. Terrific place, big enough to spend the whole day there. A huge and very interesting zoobotanical garden, just in the city.
Another interesting place to go is de Estação das Docas, where you can enjoy delicious regional food dishes, ice-cream made of regional fruits of the Amazon rainforest, live music at a stage in the air that moves from one point to the other of the falicity.

We did a city tour through GetYourGuide which was really worth it as you went around the ver o peso market, and around the city - good to get your bearings. The Estacao das Docas was a great place to hang out, especially at the microbrewery. The house of the eleven pillars was a great place to go for a sunset drink and meal (but the restaurant was the same as the hotel, Atrium Quinta De Pedras).
All in all Belem surprised me with its many sights, bars and restaurants. Glad we went and wished we had stayed longer.

The city has a vast culture, great cuisine, with great cultural options such as some churches, squares. But what really impresses is the combú island with great restaurants and the possibility of being in contact with a beautiful Amazon.

Belem is a beautiful place with lots of natural beauty to explore. During this visit I was able to hike in Utinga Park and go to a great restaurant on the Amazon in Il do Combu. I spent a lot of time at the two main malls and at the Estacos de Docas especially at Amazon Beer which has amazing foods. There are great Amazonian dishes to be found all over Belem. The people were friendly and I did not have any issues getting around either by walking or via uber.

Belem has some interesting places to visit (Teatro da Paz, Docas, Goeldi museum and some parks such as Mangal das Garças). Morevover, has one of the most interesting and surprising gastronomy in the world.
The nature around Belem is wonderful, such as the Combu Island with very good restaurants. Enjoy the strong presence of the water and the intense green of the forests around.
The city itself is noisy, polluted, poor, and dirt.
The hotel is in a completely renovated historical building from the 18th century, with rustic decoration themed around the Amazonian navigation and pieces of regional ceramics.
Located in Belém's Old Town, the main tourist attractions, such as Forte do Presépio, Mercado Ver-o-Peso and Estação das Docas, are within walking distance. (Avoid walking in the area at night)
Very comfortable bed and good shower.
Great breakfast, with excellent variety and some fresh regional delights.
The staff is very friendly and helpful.
The room we stayed was not big, but it was confortable enough for what the hotel promises. The downside is that the beds are not made, in fact, they fold the sheets everyday, which means you have to redo the bed everyday. It would be much better if they simply didn't touch the beds. The pressure of the water in the shower is a plus, but the temperature is inconstant (very warm in daytime and slightly coldish at night). The breakfast is not cheap, but it's abundant and fresh.
The hotel is in a good location. Took me only a few minutes from the airport to the hotel. There are a few restaurants in the area although I was there on the weekend and most of them were closed. It was a good hotel for a one-day layover. The rideshare from the airport was 14r. The taxi operators at the airport may tell you that rideshare is not allowed at the airport.....this is not true
The apartment is located inside the Radisson hotel, so you have access to all the hotel’s facilities. It’s spacious and comfortable, but remember to bring the basics. Despite a couple of items missing, the owner of the apartment was always available and ready to help. Thank you.
Pleasant and comfortable hotel, very helpful staff, but the location is less than ideal: it's a bit distant from the historic center and attractions, but taxis (Uber) are readily and rapidly available - I would certainly book again.
Breakfast was far better than the Radisson Belem. I didn't have to ask for the staff to clean the room and everyone was courteous and respectful. I was very pleased with the service and cleanliness and the ambiance.
This hotel is in a good location if you need to business in the commercial district. But, there is nothing to do there at night. In fact, walking around there at night is not a good idea.
I arrived from a flight after midnight. I was told my confirmed reservation was no longer good. Had to pay a higher price.
International Airport hotel, NOBODY SPEAKS ENGLISH!!
Good breakfast, high variety of fruits and very clean for two star hotel. Central location in a safe avenue and with a restaurant in front of the hotel.
