Beautiful casa, cozy room, great breakfest. Lance tips were very helpful, he made it a perfect stay!
The owners treated us like friends who had never been to Rio (we hadn't). Excellent location: away from the craziness of the beach, in a charming neighborhood with great restaurants.
It's the perfect place to relax, sunbathe and enjoy hot summer days with comfort and peace. Santa Teresa is a charming neighborhood. If you want a place away from the crowded beaches, this is a good option.
Sometimes at night it was difficult to get a cab from other locations to the hotel, since it's located up in one mountain, away from big hotels and tourist centers.
Wow!!! This place is truly wonderful! What made it so special to us was the combination of the incredibly friendly and helpful owners and staff, the location in the beautiful neighborhood Santa Teresa and the lovely rooms with a lot of attention for the small details. Not to forget the really yummy breakfast! Home away from home! Thanks for everything!
Fantastic location in the hills of Rio. Awesome help coordinating your travel plans. Great fresh breakfast. Fun rooms. Will continue to write rave reviews of this place!(Why not spend a few days here to get the tourist sites done and then head to Casa Cool flats for some beach time?!)
Clean, friendly, and great views. Clean room and lovely garden. We think the owner should give jobs to Brazilians of different backgrounds.
Lack of TV in the room and too many stairs to go up and down. And I dislike that the owner scared us off about being careful in Rio (he is an American living in Rio). We traveled all over the world and we know that every where you must be careful (ex: Paris...). We went all over Rio and nothing bad happened.
comfort of the place great staff in one day it feels like home
walking home from the metro station at night, because I was to stingy to take a taxi
- Very friendly and helpful (english speaking) staff. - Great location in Santa Theresa. - Good breakfast. - Very nice garden, pool and reception area.
- Nothing really
Lance was the most amazing host. Full of any sort of information one would ever need. He helped us plan each day with his expert local knowledge. An awesome place to stay. Highly recommend!
The location was great for exploring Santa Theresa. Breakfast wa light and fresh.
Our bed was uneven and uncomfortable. The towels didn't even fit around my body.(I am a size 14) so, I took a towel from the pool area to use to be comfortable. The room smelled bad because the bathroom smelled of sewage from the pipes.
The staff were exceptional - so helpful and accommodating and super smiley and friendly. We were a couple but I imagine it would be a great place for solo travellers as well as families.
Our room was very 'brown and orange' - bed linen, towels etc.
Great location to explore Rio Staff were excellent in suggesting areas to explore, how to get there and where to eat - all useful in an unfamiliar location
Staff, personal attention, decore. Folkloric neighbourhood
Accessibility if walking is an issue
room was spacious, clean, ambiance was very impressive, breakfast was good, espacially sergio (staff) ws very helpful, kind, symphatetic,
location was far from metro and also airport service that was arranged by owner Lance was too expensive 180 real and there was no choice if you get after 8 pm you could not arrive to hotel another taxi, it was unbelieveable and nonsense, we lef hotel by normal taxi an price was only 45 real???
Showers are no good
The helpfulness of the staff. Nothing was too much trouble and they went out of their way to advise on how to get wherever you wanted to go. And, the breakfasts were to die for...
Mosqitoes. But, you can't blame the owners for flying bugs that inhabit a city with so much standing water.
Great value with a wonder staff. We thought we would try something a little different in Rio, and were rewarded! Casa Cool Beans have a very helpful staff and great owners. They really know how to take care of the little things. Like notes to welcome you, a free cocktail at a nearby resturant, a parting gift for my girlfriend, etc. Additionally, they helped book dinner reservations for us, a private tour for Rio, taxi to the airport. Plus offered great advice on the area and nightlife. Plus, we overhead them with other guests and the treatment was the same. I would highly recommend Casa Cool Beans to anyone looking for something besides Copacabana or Ipanema Beaches. We wish we had another day or two there.
A little hard to find. Our cab had a very tough time finding the place at first, and it took us a second attempt when we were out walking, but once you find your bearings it was easy. I would just recommend that you request the directions ahead of time so you can hand them to a driver.
Great staff who went out of their way to help us with transportation and recommendations for things to do.
This B&B is cozy and built in a bungalow style so it is possible to hear other guests, but this was fine as everyone was very nice, polite and fun to meet!
Very nice venue, with very welcoming staff. The room is cosy and comfortable. Breakfast in the roof bar is a fantastic way to start the day.
A bit far away from main attractions. Taxi is almost a must vs public transport.
Beautiful place. Sergio and team of staff were just lovely to us all so helpful. Amazing breakfast thank you :))))
Nothing loved everything
Friendly staff who spoke English and were very helpful in providing directions, places to see, things to do and where to eat. The room was huge and very comfortable.
Very expensive - may have been due to World Cup?
There is nothing not to like
-good ambience by location -quiet location -good breakfast
-We came at 16:30 (instead of annouced 14:00) to the CCB, due to our flight from Europe being substantially delayed. The way we got "greeted" by the owner Lance was disappointing to say at least. Through the 5 days of stay, he didn't find it necessary to sorry it -The first night we had something like a marten in the roof and had a very bad sleep. The day after this was rectified. -There is nobody from CCB staff around/attending betwen 17:00 and the next morning. Through that time one can not be reached from external, neither through door bell nor by the house phone -CCB staff (aside of Lance) does not speak nor understand another language than Portuguese -The pool could not be used for a week due to maintenance
Best staff ever, very helpful
Amazing staff, super helpful. Comfortable, elegant house with great breakfast in a safe area.
It may be hard to get a taxi driver to take you to the neighborhood. But it's illegal for them to refuse a trip. A tip is to stand next to a cop when you stop a taxi.
