the staff friendliness and availability at all times. We were welcomed with a mile at 6am and had immediatly a room ready without extra cost. The house is beautifull and the location great. The uphill climb.

Casa Mosquito is an exquisite intimate botique hotel in the heart of Ipanema but secluded from the crowd. It is beautiful with an exceptional staff. Occassional dog next door barking (totally out of the control of the hotel)

Hotel and room was great. Very comfortable and peaceful place in the centre of Rio! It will be perfect when the pool is finished.. - Spa: We asked a spa treatment together as a couple. My treatment stopped 20 minutes before the one of my girlfriend (we paid the same price). Upon that the guy started to pack his massagebed making a lot of noice.. Not really the zen we were looking for. - Diner: We asked for diner the last evening as we had to leave Rio at 9PM. We were told the kitchen was closed. When we arrived back at the hotel at 8.30PM the owners themselves were eating in the lobby. That didn't give us a welcoming feeling.

Good location (if able bodied) Quality furnishings Beautiful building Nice feel Over-hyped price (accepted for New Year) BUT nothing extra provided. Breakfast should be included for the price charged (£400 per night) Terrace view is marred by building work at rear Only a bath shower, no head-height wall fixing for shower head. Poor finish in some areas - grout left on tiles and rotting wood/paint on window frames. Misleading description on the website: The hotel is not "beachside" (it's at least a 5 min walk up a back-street) and it suggests you have a view of Copacabana/Ipanima beaches - No, you can only see rooftops! The grotesque policy of charging corkage for items consumed IN YOUR ROOM! Even soft drinks This made us determined not to buy anything from the hotel. Poor service when I asked to print a document: The staff could not use the printer, I was promised a call when it was ready which didn't happen. I then found my personal document in public view on the desk. My final bill included a £1.50 charge for the 'service' but I was not told there would be a charge.

Modern design boutique hotel. Small size--only four rooms but they seem to be adding more. Front desk staff and support staff were helpful. Aloof managers/owners. Extremely expensive, even for one of the most expensive cities in the world for lodging. Have stayed in other hotels in Rio and will not return to this property. Did not feel that the management was sensitive to the financial sacrifice that it takes for people to stay in their hotel. It was as if we were unwelcome guests in their own home who were doing us a favor by letting us stay there. Very cold feeling about the place. The location is up a very steep and winding road between Ipanema and Copacabana. Once at the hotel, there were several more very steep stairs to reach the lobby and rooms. Most taxi drivers got lost or could not find the location, even when given a map and the address.

Very nice place in Rio, good location between Ipanema y Copacabana. Its perfect for couples:design and clean. The ambient is perfect and the bedroom is perfect to relax after a day in the amazing Rio. We really like the place but no so much the managing First of all, they usually check the bedroom when you are not there, so I felt sometimes my privacity damaged. we ate some foods or drinks bought on the street and we had to pay a comision for that. they comunicate this cost in the rules of the room but in my opinion, the price of the hotel could support this cost, that it seems quite weird. Also we you are leaving you have to pay10% more for the service, like calling a taxi. In conclusion, i travel a lot in this kind of hotels and my opinion is the place is perfect but the way to do the things must be improve.

Casa Mosquito was the perfect place to stay for what my husband and I wanted to get out of Rio. The location was within walking distance of Copacabana and Ipanema beaches, the Metro, and many fine restaurants in the area. Benjamin and Lydia were so gracious and helpful with recommendations and accommodations that it made our trip even better. The fresh daily juice, especially the Passion Fruit juice, was our favorite. Every detail of Casa Mosquito is relaxed yet classy. I cannot say enough great things about our stay there. Definitely a five star rating! There was nothing that would have made our stay any better. It was awesome from start to finish.

Casa Mosquito is a hidden gem of luxury in Rio de Janeiro. I spent three days here of relaxation at the end of a busy trip across Argentina and Brazil and thoroughly enjoyed my stay. The hotel is a newly renovated villa on a hillside in Ipamena, about 10 mins walk from the beach. It is well located, and beautifully decorated. There are only 4 rooms open at the moment, so this boutique hotel is quiet and tranquil. Benjamin, the owner, is extremely friendly and nothing is too much trouble for him - they accomodated me in all my requests. There was not a hairdryer in the room when I arrived, but they provided one for me within 10 mins. The room service and terrace snacks, including Capirinhas are very high quality - the chef is fantastic. The bed is very comfy and the rooms are quiet. I would definitely recommend anyone coming to Rio for a romantic break to stay here. The stairs to the villa are quite steep, but they do come and help you with your luggage. I would be cautious if you have any problems with mobility, as there is a quite a steep hill to climb to get to the villa. But if you are of average fitness you will be fine. There is also no bracket for the shower on the wall in the bathroom in the european style, which is a little strange to me - it means you need to take a bath. Otherwise, I would highly recommend this hotel.

Lovely place. Perfect for our visit to rio. Good location near ipanema. Nice place to relax in between sightseeing. Much nicer than the big hotel chains. Quite expensive, although everywhere in Rio is. Shame breakfast / coffee is not included, for the price I would expect it.

It is a secluded place, a haven of peace on the border of Ipanema and Copacabana, the view from the hotel and our room balcony over the nearby favela is very nice and the hotel decoration very enchanting. The breakfast is a bit costly for what is offered but good. The staff and owners are nice and helpful The location is pretty good but needs a bit of a walk up when not in taxi Our room was nice but a bit narrow to my taste and expectations But as a whole, a unique and welcoming place to stay when in Rio; their enlargement plans seem most promising! The whole stay was charged on my visa card when I booked and not at the end of my stay like most hotels , maybe I didn't read well the hotel policy...
