i did not like any thing
this is not hotel, this is crack house ,is located in very poor ,dangerous neighborhood in bad part of downtown,it was so poor and scary looking that taxi could not find ,building all rusty and rotten ,you can smell the dying building, tryning to cover rusty doors painted but paint is so old that every thing is falling .when i arrived one woman who was watching TV with receptionist came to me and showed her finger and said give me one R$ ,she kept saying that in front of receptionist ,and receptionis did not say any thing while i was shocked.this is a welcome and greeting for a guest .room was closed without no window, smell of cleaning stuff kills you.doors are dying, door nobs are hanging, sheets are so old that almost tear apart, towel is a joke .small towel looking that does every thing except dry you and better not to use it.no warm water availble .dont believe breakfast exist, first there is nothing on the table except coffe second breakfast is over at 8 oclock, now you tell me who get up at 7 oclock to go just drink coffe?remember you are in vacation and trying to relax.do not get fool by picture of entrance door,it is scam ,i already explained .the add was saying the price was high but give you discount ,that is a trick to make you buy. i usually make one night reservation if i like it i continue to stay, but here mistakenly i made a reservation for one night and again for another night .after i arrived i canceled the second reservation and i paid penalty for one night by booking .com. i believe this crack house should be closed and booking.com should be ashamed that selling night for this hotel.i was so upset that i left recife for joao pessoa next day
Absolutely disgusting, booking.com should be embarrassed by this disaster that they allow on their website. The rooms and bathrooms were horrible. The floor had exposed nails that had dried in the cement. The toilet and shower were beyond repair. I truly believe they only use the upper floors when they need extra capacity. None of the pictures on the website were actual rooms that I saw walking past open doors.
What a terrible place. Extremely dirty.
Our room was flooded with sewage water in the middle of the night ruining our bags and clothes. Nothing was done to compensate us for our nightmare experience at this hotel and we even had to pay $50 real for them to clean the clothes that THEIR facilities managed to douse in foul sewage water. This is also a hotel where locals bring prostitutes for a pay-by-the-hour rate as the rooms had little privacy with all the noise in the hallways and adjacent rooms. If you want to avoid a nightmare experience in Recife, stay far far away from Hotel Castelinho. Very unfriendly and condescending to my friends and I because we're American.
Rooms had no windows, it smelled humid and musty. Shower head had gunk on it, no toilet paper, floors weren't cleaned, and the ceiling had a hole in it. I don't know how this "hotel" is still running. I don't even know how the owners could have a place like that. Horrible place!
This place is awful. Outside of our room flooded with rain overnight and we walked in shin deep water. Nobody speaks English despite many tourists for World Cup. They can't look up balances so were attempting to overcharge people for 3x the rate if they couldn't prove otherwise.
The helpfull staff
I saw two rooms and stayed in one of them. None had windows, ac though but not controllable just on and off. Rooms are entirely made out of tile, even the bedframe (!) and water dripping in the bathroom. I dont understand how this place has any stars at all, since most of the places facility is not taken care of. Staff was lovely though and made the whole stay durable, but even for them, I wish they had a better work environment.
