The man on the front desk was excellent and recommended / booked several tours for us which were excellent and very reasonably priced compared to costs of doing it ourselves. Breakfasts were great in the morning, lots of fruit, cereals, bread and eggs. Computers for internet access in the lobby. Excellent location for walking to both Copacabana and Ipanema beaches and towns. The hotel was a little dated, but no problems. We were watchful after some of the reviews we had read, but we would certainly stay there again.

Perfect location!!! Staff was friendly. The hotel is old but my room was perfectly adequate and it had been cleaned well. There was a new floor and a big flat tv. I was on the 6th floor and the WIFI was excellent and very fast. The mattress of the bed was quite hard, for me this was great because it's better for my back but some people might not like it. The air conditioning was adequate. Again, the hotel is old and it shows in some places. However for me the positive qualities of the hotel compensate for this.

The breakfast is ok which is the only comfort when I was there Dirty and with terrible smell in someplace of hotel. All the hotel is obsolete and obscure, the room is noisy which is near the street. and more, dogs barking all the night when I lived there.

The location nearby Ipanema beach was nice. Some things in the room needed a reparation. The curtains were not hanging as they should. The lock fell out of the roomdoor. Further there were double windows to keep the streetnoise outside, but via the airco still a lot of streetnoise came into my room. So though I was sleeping on the 6th floor, it still sounded as the cars passed by right next to my windows.

Nice breakfast buffet on roof terrace. Gutes Fruhstucksbuffet auf dem Dach. small and dirty rooms. room was very neglected. our first room smelled like pee. i had to involve booking.com to get it changed. ore else they would not have changed the room. manager speaks no english and uses this for reason to not solve your problem. manager refers us to owner, but owner is not available on weekends. manager is afraid to get fired if he calls owner in the weekend. our 2nd room was slightly better but still neglected, curtains broken, lights not working.

I liked it because it was super friendly and very helpful. Your staff could have not been better. The Internet was good and accessible easily in the rooms most of the time and your location was great for both beaches. Breakfast was ample and adequate, hot and on time every morning. It was a perfect mix between economy, style and accessibility. Thank you for your kind help during my stay. It was very welcome.

Price, breakfest, decent value for money Most of the staff was trying to sell packages only and gave bad recomendations and advice in their best interest only to make money on packages. Room, hallway was dirty and very noisy. Steet was not good.

Location and price Our room smelled quite strongly of stale cigarettes and dump. The noise from outside the hotel was so loud in our room and we were on the top floor. The hotel breakfast was poor. The jacuzzi needed a change of water and a good scrub. The staff were rude!

Disappointing for what is not a cheap hotel. Booked on the basis of location and access to wifi. Wifi did not work in room so had to stand by the cleaner's cupboard in the lobby to access emails. Wife was charged r$10 for my use of minibar on check-out, which I later questioned and was apologised to along with return of money

After reading various reviews, I was pleased to find that the Hotel Cristal Palace met my expectations. The staff were courteous, the room clean, and the rooftop patio a nice place to enjoy breakfast.

Proximity to the beach The hardness of the beds - as firm bed lovers even we found these beds ridiculously hard. The pillows were also very hard, we nicknamed them teh sandbags. Most disturbing was the noise!! The a/c unit had been put in a hole in the wall but there was nothing to stop the light or the noise coming in around the edges - two layers of windows make no difference to the level of noise when there is a gapping hole in the wall.
