The location is great and everything about the hotel itself was at least satisfactory, with the exception of the manager. The breakfast was pretty good and most of the staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was small but comfortable and offered everything we needed.
This hotel is managed by a TERRIBLE manager. When trying to check out he began shouting at my husband and kept yelling and insulting us in multiple languages (we actually understood all of them). He would not stop. His employees were frightened, one was trembling and another virtually in tears. They assured us that it was not our fault, he's like this all the time! All of this was occasioned by the fact that my husband tried to begin the checkout before I was at the desk and when told he could not do that he stayed too close to the desk. I'm serious, he physically removed another couple who wanted to check out before we left. This hotel is owned by foreigners, Italians and the manager, also Italian is their agent. I've spent years in Italy and I've never met another Italian who was so rude. If the owners had a brain they would get rid of this guy, or at least send him to school to learn how to manage a public business.
Location and price
Check in and check out service attention.
Unflexible management of my reservation. Unfriendly treatment from the frontdesk. I had a problem during my stay in Rio and had to ajust my dates in the hotel. They were unflexible to change dates, charged my full for the service i did not use.
Hotel was good location was the one I was happy with
Everything was small. Hot tub not working on that day
The breakfast should be better
Rude and unhelpful staff Free wifi never works Rooms in bad shape
The location was excellent and the most positive attribute of the hotel.
The hotel staff was poor. 2/4 staff were very nice and tried to help, the other 2 were rude and couldn't be bothered. For example, our room had a broken shower (crack in foundation so water leaked all over bathroom floor) and this took 3 days to fix. They kept telling us it was fixed and they clearly did nothing because as soon as someone would shower water would spill out across the bathroom. Second, our safe was broken and this took 2 days to fix. Finally, air conditioning was broken and this also took 2 days to fix. After 2 days when nothing was fixed, my friend and I asked to switch rooms and the hotel said no. Their reason was "hotel policy". So we said we would spend the night again but would leave the next day and check out before moving to another hotel. The staff said no and refused to let us check out and receive refund (they said we could leave but weren't getting money back). There were other small things as well like when we asked for an additional towel, they said no because it was "hotel policy". I'm not one to complain about these things or even write reviews, but the experience was not enjoyable and certainly not worth the overvalued price. Overall, I would advise people to look elsewhere. You'll pay a premium for this place because the location is great, but I would be surprised if there wasn't another appropriate hotel or apartment close by for equal price and much better value.
The first hostage, The waterbox in The bathroon was spend water a lot. The second hostage, The TV has stopped to work.
Great location, clean room and friendly staff. Good minibar, mini safe in closet, NET TV. Decent selection at breakfast, though space was cramped. Good price for stay.
Mattress was awful; very hard & I could feel the springs. Shower had weak pressure & temp was either scalding hot or cold. Creepy to have door from hallway entering directly into bedroom - no buffer entry way like in chain hotels; could hear everyone in hallway & they could probably hear me.
location OK rooms
should improve the service at the reception for some people of the staff
helpful employees at the reception. directly in betweek Copacabana and Ipanama beach. Very close to Rio's best city surf spot.
wifi didnt just worked in the entry area of our room. roof-top-Jacuzzi was under maintenance during our entire stay (1 week). manager was talking very aggressive and rude to the employees in the breakfast room (guests could clearly hear everything which didn't create a good vibe there).
- Rio is one of the towns with over expensive hotels. If you want good value for money, don't go to Rio. If you want a good compromise, this hotel might be for you. - Staff was very helpful in organising things. But yes, they can be rough as other people described it here. After all it is Brazil. It's nothing for the faint hearted...!
- shower was very temperamental (boiling hot or cold) but with some patience I got there.... - roof terrace including the pool was closed for works but this would not be a reason for any compensation - not even a sorry.
Personal muy amable. Great staff very friendly and help us in everything.
No good internet connection in rooms.
Great position, room and breakfast are OK. Roberto (the boss of the hotel) is a real gentleman, he helped me to solve some little trouble in the organization of my trip/holiday.
I liked the friendly staff only but defiantly i don't recommend this hotel its must be like 1 star not more
I did not like any thing bad management bad cleanness and it need lot of renovation first of all there was a crack in our door we had to wait for the next day to fix it and it was fixed by a foam tape also there is allot of equipment noise like a big ac compressor near to my pillow it keep turning and after complaining it to the manager he replied its rio go and get the police even he didn't come up to see from where is the problem and the room was so small even u cant walk or put your bags and 100% u cannot see even the sun i really don't recommend this hotel to any 1 any pousada is way much better
no wifi in rooms, bed was uncomfortable after a few nights, our hand soaps and showering liquids were never refilled after numerous requests
This hotel is located about half way between Ipanema and Copacabana beaches. This means it is far away from the seedy north end of Copacabana and closer to the better restaurants, bars etc. There is a decent range of items for breakfast. Acai, fruit, yogurt, granola, juice, scrambled eggs, bacon, various bread products, cake, Danish, ham, salami, cheese, coffee and tea.
We came straight from the airport and arrived at the hotel at about 11am. I was a bit taken aback at when we approached the desk, as there was no real greeting, no smiles, just an immediate and kurt, “how many bags?”. I stammered, not sure what to make of this. Then they clarified, “Check in is at 2pm. How many bags do you have?”. We were expecting to have to wait, but there has to be a better way to greet your guests. We were in a superior room at the front of the hotel. The way these rooms are structured is that there is a long hallway between the bed / main part of the room and the door to the elevators. Since the WIFI access point is located down near the elevators my partner and I were unable to use the internet from our bed or from the desk in front of the bed. The signal just wasn’t strong enough to get down the hall or through all the walls. Our connection would drop in and out, and when we were connected it was horrible, patchy and slow. We made it known to staff that this was a big issue for us (we both needed to work 2-3 hours a day on our laptops). Over a 2-3 day period we complained, asked for another room, and were reduced to sitting on the floor in the hallway near the door to the hotel room in order to use the internet. Each time we complained some new member of the seeming endless parade of staff would come in and check their mobile phones to see how many bars they could get. They told us it was a problem affecting internet for all the buildings in the area (rubbish, as the internet was working in the lobby, and the problem was obviously with the WIFI not the internet). They said “We will get someone to look at it” (rubbish, as when we were talking to different staff they would often say this, and we would say, “didn’t someone look at it yesterday?”, only to be met with confusion). Eventually we threatened to leave the hotel and they reluctantly found us a room where there was not a long hallway. Internet then worked perfectly.
I only liked Melo, one of the staffs and not because he spoke some English, but because he was human and had the decency to really do his job and look after guest as hotel staffs should. If you are ever here, make Melo your point of contact or your holiday will be ruined!
Star: Coming from England and being a person born and raised in a 3rd world country, I am used to all standards, but if I complain, then, truly, it was awful. This hotel is at best 1 an a half star. Customer Service: There are no customer services here, absolutely none. Or, if there is, then that is only when you hand over your card so the 10% charge can be charged of your card then the rest will be no English, frowning and even getting confrontational. They get really annoyed if you don't speak Portuguese and have a horrible sense of humour. Language: Brazil not speak any other languages except Portuguese even though she's surrounded by Spanish speaking countries, Brazil expect them to speak Portuguese and not the other way round. Note fellow readers, this is a hotel, hosting international guests and not a word English is spoken, I mean, one word English, yet if you try to demonstrate with some English signs, they frown at you and give you attitude. If I say no word English is spoken, I mean no word and THAT IS NOT A JOKE!!! If English isn't spoken, then French, German, Italian etc are as good as lost. Breakfast: Now, this is the biggest farce in the world, I really had to laugh just remembering the breakfast. Croissant harden and small like peanuts, funny looking breads and cacao and a funny type flask for hot water and a toaster that don't fully work if what you get everyday, January to December stuffed in an area so small, messy and again no English, it's your business if you don't understand Portuguese, horrible, horrible, horrible!!! I spent 16 nights here, after the 3rd day, I stopped going for breakfast as it was insulting to say the least. Jacuzzi: You will see on the pics that they have a Jacuzzi, holly goodness, what a laugh!!! No one even gets close to that so call Jacuzzi which is inter-connected with the breakfast tiny little space.
The hotel was great value for money, the staff were very helpful and attentive.
Sometimes the breakfast was cold.
Location, neat and tidy
Rooms a wee bit small, breakfast not great
Convenient location ...easy access to Coba Cabana and Impanema beach.
The 24 hour traffic noise which made it difficult to relax and impossible to sleep. The water leak from the room above which resulted in us having to request the water to be turned on and then off after showering until the repairs had been carried out. Despite all the inconveniences above , our room was not cleaned on one day , no courtesy room was offered on our departing day and the staff made no effort to assist ... In fact , the lack of communication was particularly frustrating.
coackroaches in the kitchen of the Hotelier, live and dead ones.
Nice staff, comfortable location...
The location is between copacabana and ipanema beaches.
The drains in the toilet smelled like fresh turds.
1) Location 2) Breakfast
1) Noise - walls are so thin you hear every noise in the corridors. Very annoying 2) No hot water - I had no hot water in the shower. 5 people went in and out while I'm in the room trying to fix it. eventually had wait 1 hour before water were hot. 3) House keeping entered my room while I was sleeping in the room to hoover (early morning). 4) No money exchange in reception - you better have cash after hours. 5) Hotel manager shouts on guests including me. 6) Small and mildewed room - small windows, no view and air condition that makes horrible noise. 7) Value for money is extremely low (I paid about US$ 150 per night) bottom line: I'm traveling a lot and barely complain but this hotel crossed all lines. You simply don't want to go there. You will bless me for that advice.
