- central location, not perfect but fine - nice girl in the reception
- the guy in the reception after our first night in Rio couldn't help us in anything because: 1. he did't know Rio, 2. couldn't speak English, 3. had "check it out in the google" attitude. As a result he helped us to find probably the worst exchange house in the city as it comes to exchange rates; - it was often too cold in our room, especially in the night (air conditioning didn't work well) - the WIFI worked only in the common area,
big shower and really cheap Close to lapa, perfect for going out
dirty room sink was blocked air conditioning very cold and strong fan, no regualtion no window very small rooms seems that it was an old night Club (mirrors, wirlpool which is to dirty to use and no ventilation)
Close to Lapa and Centro
The shared showers were a mess and half didn't have hot water. The room we got was supposed to have a sink in it and it did not and they told us that none of the sinks work anymore. Our room was about 6 feet by 10 feet with a casal bed, barely enough room to get dressed or have a suitcase. The rooms looked like they used to be a "motel." There were tons of flies and bugs in the shared bathroom and I'm pretty sure there was a bug problem in our room as well because there would be droppings on our bed that fell from the ceiling. The wifi didn't work well and I had to get up at 4am to ask them to turn the AC down because it was close to 82F in the room and we were sweating. It's cheap, but not really worth it.
The location is good (center), close to cheap restaurants and samba. The bed is comfortable. The cleaning lady is always around and you can see her working hard.
Very poor wifi reception, can be very noisy at night (beside a popular bar), some staff are quite unfriendly or don't speak English, very tiny room without a window.
Staff where very good and friendly.
The night club next door that went on till 6 in the morning at the weekend.
In the weekends is very noise music all the night Room is small but clean staff is friendly
value for moey is good,
wifi not good, but internet available at computer I common area
Close to Metro
The hotel is terrible in every sense. The room had no windows and only contained a bed. The night club adjoining played "duf, duf" music consistently from 11pm to 5am so no chance at all to sleep. We had 4 nights booked and left after 2 nights without a refund.
After 15 years of backpacking in south america one of the worst accomodation ever!! I paid a fortune and got totally ripped off!! Summary: - Coackroaches in the bathroom - Tiny tiny room (single bed for 2 people) - Airco doesn't work - No service room (cleaning) - Staff don't speak english... Don't waste your money and go somewhere else!!
The Hostel (not a hotel by any stretch of the imagination) is located in the center of the Lapa district. Loads of bars, night clubs and restaurants. Its also close to the metro and if you fly into Santos Dumont airport its literally a 5 min cab ride. 15 mins on the metro will take you to Copacoban beach, 10mins the other direction will take you to the city center. Also across the street is the Eduardo Gomes park along side the marina. If you feel like a bit of exercise its a beautiful walk from here all the way along Flamengo and Botafogo beach (not recommended for swimming though)
Despite very helpful and pleasant staff there hostel has a few major drawbacks. None of the rooms have windows, which could be a security benifit but make it feel like a prison cell. The air conditioning is not independently controlled, it's either on at full blast or off. In the room where I stayed we had issues with insects infesting the room and would regularly find dozens crawling in our bed sheets. All the rooms have suspicious mirrored ceilings which gives you a clew to what this building used to be used for prior to branding itself as a hostel. Finally if you get a room on the east side of the building be prepared to get no sleep on Thursday - Sunday as there is a nightclub nextdoor that is pumping until 5am.
The common area was excellent, use of computer, TV, kitchen and met plenty of new friends. Was not too far from the metro and from other sights.
Our room was next to a nightclub and we had to sleep with earplugs in. Also, we paid a premium amount, as the World Cup was on, which is fair enough, but they need to invest this money back into the hostel. Our main light didn't work, door handle fell off repeatedly, sometimes showers had no hot water and generally the rooms were poor and had no value for money. Although the location was convenient, some would say it is an unsafe area as you have to walk past the red light district to get to the closest metro.
Staff at Friday's was helpful negotiating the buses and Metro system and in many other ways. Certainly a modest place (e.g., not much room in the room and no windows), but since we were there mostly to sleep, this was no problem.
Disco next door.
Staff was really really excellent, very kind and helpfull
near to public transport
Rooms very dirty! even the linen and the bathroom were dirty!!! no hot water at all! I will not recommend to anyone!
The staff are friendly and very helpful in getting you to events and places. The location is perfect for getting to the bus and Metro. Our Portugese was not good but their English was very good!
The nightclub next door was noisy all night. The street garbage never got cleaned up for days during or after Carnival(not really Fridays' fault).
If you can avoid it staying there do so, it is just disgusting
the location was quite fine if you want to stay in the center
more or less everything. There are no windows. "double" bed is not really double, room doesn't have any space even to put the suitcase, no wardrobe, mirrors everywhere around you. No sink even though it was written we had. I have a strong impression that it was a motel, place for 18+ turned into a "hotel". Wouldnt go there any more
Hostel is in good location , near city centro and near beach 10min walking .... There is kitchen where you can prepare some tea or some simple meal.... 24H reception and always friendly people ....really very good , I recommend it !
The rooms do not have windows and there is not wifi signal in the room ,,so you have to go to the common area ......
IMPORTANT: if you stay here make sure you get a room on the opposite side of the club next door. I changed mine and it made sleeping a lot easier, although you could still hear the bass beat next door. Also, the wifi only works on the 2nd and 3rd floors, and only in some of the rooms. Otherwise you have to use the common room. All that being said, I believe the low price of a single room makes up for most of the negatives, except:
The bathroom! Holy hell it was never perfectly clean the entire 2 weeks I stayed. I'm not sure if this is the staff's fault or because of the patrons' disregard for keeping common áreas decent. The wifi thing for me was a real pain, as it made it quite difficult to work.
The staff was very friendly and helpful. Federico is very nice and since I was a sole traveller he took me to a typical bar in Lapa. A cool cultural experience
The room didn't have any window, it felt awkward and not comfortable at all. I never slept in a windowless room before.
