Once we stayed in the original hotel we booked, it wasn't that bad. The owner was apologetic for the mistake and gave us a reduced rate for the first night.
We arrived late at night only to be told that the hotel had overbooked and didn't have a room for us. They placed us in the hotel next door which was called "Hotel Magnifio". It wasn't magnifico at all. We didn't even want to use the bathroom there or sleep in that bed. We complained the next day and were moved back to Colonial Manaus but it was just a horrible experience.
The staff were lovely and the place was clean.
We were paying 400 real a night(during World Cup) for a place that's only really worth 100 real. This is a budget hotel. The room that they have breakfast in is also like a sauna which was incredibly uncomfortable.
the price was good. the staff was helpful and breakfast was included.
- Great staff: hotel owner drove us to airport personally when our preordered taxi didn't show up
- Very noisy, doors & windows are not isolated. Bring earplugs.
The breakfast was really good.
The bed in our room was one of the most uncomfortable I've stayed in, too hard. For this price a comfortable bed is expected.
Stayed two nights either side of amazon trip. First room had high ceilings really nice and spacious second night room was much smaller but still okay. Wifi / Met the owner he was extremely helpful and polite would recomend on this basis along. lovely person.
Location of hotel at night isnt the safest.. cabs are must during late nights...
they didn´t had my reservation, so they gave me the worst room wich was so noisy that I couldn´t sleep. Two weeks later they found my reservation and told booking.com that I didn,t show up and wanted the money a second time. This is a no go for me.
- at my second stay they gave me a room next to the street, it was so noisy that I couldn´t sleep. Only after a long discussion they gave me another room. I have to say this was the first time that I asked to change the room ever.
Nice old building, room very high (but be sure not to get a room on ground level ), central location.
The son of the owner, Neto, speacks english very well and picked us up late night at the airport. He was very friendly and showed us next day the lokal fish, food and banana market and the rest of the city. The hotel is a lovely Colonial building and only a few meters away from the Theatro Amazon and the city centre. Most of the rooms are very big, but the have also 1 or 2 very small and simple rooms. Included breakfast is basic, but the roll filled with fried egg was delicious. It was served in a small bistro/kitchen and the cost effectiveness for accomodation and breakfast for 100,00 RIAL is ok. Altogether it`s a nice place to explore Manaus or the stopover for going on a cruise. WIFI is available in every room and a public computer is located in the near of the reception. Next time we will stay there again. :-)
Room nbr. 110 to basic.
Excellent breakfast, good location (walking distance to port and city centre) and very helpful and nice owners!
Super friendly owner that made me feel at home. Spent time out of his day to take me to the local market and helped me bargain for prices. Included breakfast was delicious and the house cleaning was very nice.
The wireless was kind of flaky, but that could have been my old device.
The staff is very friendly and will go out of there to assist the guest. Neto (I believe he is the son of the owner) provided the round trip transporation to/from airport, and offered many advice on restaurants, shops, tours, etc. The provided breakfast is a home-cooked meal which was delicious. Very family-oriented atmosphere. The location of hotel is close to port and Amazonas Theatre.
The city of Manaus itself is quite old and the entire Centro area can get a little lonely at night.
staff very friendly and helpful, excellent wifi network, very fast.
hotel surroundings a little strange and without facilities like restaurants.
They promised to provide a taxi to or from the airport. When the cab that they provided dropped us off at the airport, the driver said that they had not paid and we had to. When I talked to the hotel later they said that they would contact the driver and fix it, but did not meet with us as they had promised. We got stiffed!
Dirty toilets. No taxi arrived (previously booked to pick me up) at the airport. Awful old breakfast. The place is a no-go area at night. Not good value for money. Find somewhere else!
The bed was old but confortable. The location is pretty close to the centre, but they told us it;s actually in the limit of the OK area... We just stayed one night before a jungle trip. It did the job.
The smell of the room and the hotel in general, like pipes or pee, not sure. The breakfast was just coffee, one juice and an open papaya in a very bad feeling bar. The staff looked like, ...night people. For ten reais more, stay at another hotel like the Hotel Brasil, with amazing breakfast.
