Clean rooms and showers and a great breakfast!
Rooms very are small and there are no double beds.
Huge, but professionally runned hostel. Cheap but very basic. Showers are quite good
wifi only working at reception area.
Great place for the price, location is good for Lapa night life and public transport. It's clean, the breakfast is workable.
Good Wifi, breakfast (simple but everything you need), bathroom was clean, 5mn walk to the metro station (the station is ok to go everywhere), the neighbourhood is safe. drinkable water everywhere in the hostel.
staff doesn't speak english, the bed was ok but not great, the floor of our room was not cleaned everyday, a bit noisy.
Staff, especially on reception.
breakfast was good
the space between the beds was soo freaking close
Llegamos y el confort estaba sucio con excremento y la pieza tenia una toalla en la ventana para tapar la luz pésima experiencia. We arrived and comfort was filthy with excrement and the piece had a towel on the window to cover the bad light experience.
The location was good being close to Central Metro and Lapa. For some reason there was a television in the room which was great. Filtered water dispenses
The size of the twin room was shockingly small. We had to do the twist to pass each other in the room. The window opened to another building about 2m away. Neither the window nor the bed had any mosquito netting protection. There was a fan in the room but it's slowest speed was too way too fast and was located directly over our heads. The room was understandably very warm due to the warm Rio climate but sleeping at night was a nightmare as it was either the window open and mosquitoes feasting on you or the fan on your head and you wake up feeling ill. There was no communal socialising area which is one of the reasons for us booking a hostel which is to meet fellow travellers. I will have paid max 1/3 less for such accommodation. Having lived in hostels in various other countries I definitely do not agree with the average rating at the time of my stay of 6.9. More like a 5 to me.
One female receptionist was quite nice and tried to be helpful. Breakfast was ok
I cannot recommend this hostel. Yes it was World Cup time and the prices tripled, but the service and amenities stayed at a very low level. The beds are very small with hard rubber mattresses. There are not enough shared bathrooms/showers for the number of people there. 4 TV stations were working, no cable as avertised. Wifi was very slow. When toilet finally available, staff never renewed tissue supply. Walls of rooms very thin and noisy guests keep u awake all night. There are no coffee making or food prep areas. And the neighbourhood is not safe to walk at night in search of food, must take taxi. Booking.com needs to do more to ensure that properties actually provide what they advertise. This hostel charging 110 dollars per night for a room borders on criminal fraud. The male staffers are rude and ignorant. If they are not attending the front desk, you cannot leave until they come back. Very dangerous in event of emergency. Not one of the staff speaks any English despite this being advertised. do not stay at this hostel!!
Location, value for dollar, ease of check in and breakfast
Price to quality ratio was not good (partly because of the world cup).
Location very close to Carioca metro. Wi-Fi was OK. Breakfast was OK - sausages, cheese, tee, coffee. Cleaning every day. Personnel very helpful.
The reception - 0 knowledge of English. No hot water in the shower
Room was OK, hotel is near bus station and famous Lapa, good location near centre, toilets and showers are very clean
Breakfast was same every day, staff is very friendly but dont understand english so is very difficult to comunicate
- Not expensive - Nice breakfast - Close to the centre - Hot showers
- Difficult communication with the staff
Really clean, the breakfast is very nice.
Very dangerous neighborhood. Temperature inside the room is higher than out side. Stuff is impolite. Not for a girl traveling alone.
The location was good it was near a park. Wifi worked well.
The hotel staff no English, so prepared for that if you don't speak Portuguese. The prices are similar to what you find in Canada or US, however the facilities are no where near what you would find in Can / US. As in common with rest of Brazil we did not go out after dark we tried to stay in after 7pm, especially in this area as it is center of the city. WARNING: please do not expect the hotel to call for taxi on your behalf, we found out this to pretty upsetting as all safety guides tell us make the hotel call a cab so you don't end up in some fake taxi where you get robbed. (Also they were quite rude about this !)
- Area is not secure in the evening time - Staff was not nice - Bad air conditioning
Towel and breakfast included (incl. fruits, juice, coffee, bread, ham&cheese, marmelade). drinkable water available
The location was not bad, though the neighbourhood was not extremely safe
The personnel was a bit rude and not very flexible with friends visiting the hostel The wifi signal was not strong enough sometimes. The room was very small and the beds were not very comfortable
Funny, multicoloured design.
Receptionist has refused to call a taxi to airport. Without any explanations! And that is in the morning just after carnaval in the district of sambodrom. We`ve hardly been in time to Galeao airport.
It is good location if you take a bus .
Nobody speak english or other languages and it is really problem because most of customers come outside brazil and speanding there money, but they did not care to speak other language
the location was very good only for carnaval
they donot know any thing English, very difficult to commincate
Excellent location for carnival. Very clean bathrooms. Cold drinking water available near bathrooms. Strong WiFi in room. English speaking manager very helpful and friendly.
