I already gave detailed comments in March 2012 and the fact that I came back this year emphazises that I do generally like this Hotel. Having been in Rio 29 times before, i do have a good overview and I´d say, I currently do not know any Hotel offering a better price/quality ratio in Rio de Janeiro. Be careful with your credit cards, use the safe and do not do internet banking via WIFI. The Hotel is known for Russian guest in the twighlight zone.

My main problem that I found out later was the way the night reception attendants assumed my wife was a prostitute and asked if we had registered, this happened on both nights that we stayed. I would suggest that when the afternoon / early evening staff hand over to the night staff they give the night staff a report of guests who are staying overnight and may return in the early hours. My Portuguese and hearing are not good and if I had heard what the night reception attendant had implied when asking my wife that she would have to register was an insult. I would advise the management re-educate the night staff on how to avert insulting guests because they think that all late returning couples are of the client and prostitute type.

Situated near the Gloria metro station (2 min. walking), making it easy to reach everywhere easily. The Flamengo beach is within 10 minutes of walking distance. Staff speaks english and helped me a lot with explanations and travel tips. Lot of supermarkets in the area. The room was clean. The breakfast was good with a lot of fruits available.

Bed is very hard and the airconditioner is noisy (although cooling very good).

Horrible. Dated rooms, very very dirty headboard. Far too many mirrors in the bedroom, floor to ceiling mirrors around the bed! Had to request room change as I was unwilling to go anywhere near the headboard! Thankfully they moved me to a modernised room. Breakfast not good, coffee not good, more staff than guests!

The Magic Palace Hotel is conveniently located near the Gloria metro/railway station, about a relaxed four-minute walk away. Opposite the hotel is a restaurant which is open 24 hours and nearby is a handy supermarket and drugstore. From the metro station, you can either catch a bus or go by train to the Copacabana and Ipanema beach districts. The hotel staff are friendly, helpful and always happy to assist. Hotel rooms are well equipped to make your stay a comfortable one.

The Magic Palace (mp) is a former Motel turned into a Motel (100% transformation, absolutley no "by the hours" rental anymore). As a reminescence to the Motel days, rooms arte spacious, have a sitting area and a double door to the hallway, blocking all and every noise coming from there. Location in general is quiet as well, Just 5 Minutes cab ride from Lapas nightlife and a mere 100 meters from Gloria subway station (7 Minutes to Cobacabana and 12 minutes to Ipanema beach) the location can be considerd perfect for visitors interessted in sightseeing and authentic nightlife (samba and co.). Staff is friendly and helpfull and rooms anre in very good condition, offering top end 3 star comfort (compared to some 4 star places in Copa you may rather call it 4 star plus). Breakfast is very good for this price range. Very few places in Rio offer a better price/quality ratio, in fact, beeing a 27 times repeat visitor in Rio I didn´t know one.

For the ultimate beach bum or people who need the "tourist nightlife" of Copacabana the location might be second choice. Matresses are a bit hard, although they seem to be new.

We liked the location which is very near Gloria metro plus the staff who even though many do not speak English were always extremely helpful.

Funcionaria do Cafe que insistia em deixar a tv em programas policiais tirando assim o apetite dos hospedes e deixando os turistas com medo da cidade

Atendimento simpático. Localização é proxima ao metro e parada de onibus que dão acesso facil para dois pricipais pontos turisticos que desejava ir pão de açucar e corcovado.

Achei o tamanho do quarto excelente, grande e espaçoso. O café da manhã também é muito bom, com variedades de frutas, sucos, frios..etc. A proximidade com o metrõ é algo importante,pois apesar de não ser um bairro badalado, faz com que chegue aso principais pontos turìsticos com segurança e rapidez.

há um bar em frente ao hotel, que durante à noite seus frequentadores fazem um pouco de barulho, mas nada que o fechamento das janelas do quarto não atrapalhe o descanso do hóspede.

Da hospitalidade dos funcionários, muito atenciosos e simpáticos..
