I booked the Deluxe Room... because of the view... and from all my 4 panorama view hotels I had in Rio de Janeiro... this was definitely the best!! The new receptionist Luciana started working there at the end of 2014... she made a lot of positive changes there and she really wants to make it a great house for everyone, couples and solo travelers! The breakfast was good! And I loved the weekend's parties @ Mirante do Arvrão! Wow! Especially Samba live! I was surprised how safe I felt in the favela... great experience! Do the "2 irmãos" trail which starts just next to the Mirante... up from that hill you have a panorama view of aaall South Rio de Janeiro!
I missed wifi in bedroom... but the wifi @ reception is fast! Not all taxis go up to the Mirante... most of them will let you @ the favela's entry where you can catch the favela's taximotos or taxivans if you have luggage!
it's a wonderful place to stay, the staff are the best, they're gentle, kind and funny and very thoughtful with the guest, the rooms are really comfortable with a marvelous view from the whole beach of Rio, when I stayed the bar was not working but you can still find somewhere to grab a beer or a pizza nearby, and there are those great parties at the hostel.
for being at the top of Vidigal hill, yes it's at the middle of the slum, the access to some things are poor, as ATM, they are just at the bottom of the hill, the access to it is basically made by motorbike taxi or vans, there are plenty of taxi driver don't go up there.
best view i could imagine. best stuff
Amazing view! Fawela expirience- for us it is plus, but sometimes was scary Price Very nice and helpful staff
No option to eat something besides breakfast Bit far from city center Noisy in the morning (4am/6am) - barking dogs, coks
The view. Just perfect! The suite was very nice. Best Wifi so far in Brasil!
Staff could be friendlier..
Ecellent view from the balcony. Friendly staff. Besides the home improvement needs, very nice and stylish.
Broken tables, balcony door unlockable, needed some home improvent. Cleaning didn't seem to happen every day.
It's not the sort of place that offers comfort or even great service but because of its location the experience can be unforgettable.
Perfect location. Clean rooms. Very good service. Friendliest staff ever!! Greetings to Lara, Emanuela and Felipao from Habibi and David.
The staff was exceptionally accomodating and helpful. The kitchen although only opens 3 days a week was incredibly good amazing chef. Fair prices. Overall great stay. The view is phenomenal.
The view of Rio from one of the highest points in Vidigal, which is hotel, is just outstanding. Tourists visiting Vidigal usually come to terrace to make photos! Staff is very friendly and helpful! They made parties on weekends with musicians playing and singing live! The parties were awesome! I liked staying there a lot!
Not easy to find parking place, if you are driving. Streets in Vidigal are narrow and you need to take a taxi-motobike or a small van from bus stop down on Av.Niemeyer. Walking to bus stop takes around 20 minutes Bad luck - we didn't have hot water in the room for some reason. With other rooms it was fine
- Price - Favela experience
- Noisy - Unclean - Wifi didn't work properly - Difficult to get and no proper information how to get - No towels to use - Toilets and showers had seen better days
The view its incredible
No wifi on the room
World class location/view
Breakfast needs improving. Expensive during world cup
I like the beautiful view of Rio, the parties, and people that I meet there.
I think the drinks are a little expensive.
We were in room 6 - best view of rio by far - the room was class and the staff were lovely. The journey up the huge winding road within the favella was very entertaining and it is not for the faint hearted. Saturday nights are party nights were all the rich brazilian kids come and have a great time. We played pool in the bar a few doors up and visited alto vista bar just down the steps were you can get a pizza.
The views from the balcony were awesome and the terrace downstairs spacious. Good party on Saturday night with free entrance for the hotel guests! The staff was friendly and helpful and tried to find things out for us (most of the time we ourselves were more handy in finding the needed information than them as locals!). It was very good that some of the staff spoke English really well, helped a lot. :) Breakfast was nice, but you didn't know how many people were going to be in the breakfast so you weren't sure if you could take more - there wasn't that much food out.
In the hotel description it says there's a Wi-Fi in the hotel, which implies it's everywhere, in the rooms as well. They just forgot to tell that it's only in the reception/TV-room area. A big disappointment! Stayed in the hotel for a week, and not once did they clean the room or empty the trash bins. I think they are supposed to clean while you are staying and you shouldn't bring out the garbage yourself. So still some room for improvement, this place could be excellent!
for young people can be a good experience
the hostel was laying high up , and of course I had a very nice view, but it was far from the main road
My stay was very nice, breakfast was always fresh. They also upgraded my room for the same price.
