Very clean. Most of the front desk people are great and give good advice. Bellhop and cleaning staff are excellent. Have beach chairs, towels and umbrellas. Location I would say cannot be beaten. Great views in deluxe rooms.

One of the front desk staff is a liar-says hotel is full when it is not, to deny a late checkout. Charges excessively for late checkout and also charges even for local calls. The recommended tours and driver service is overpriced.

The location, beach free of charge facilities,the staff works very hardly,polite and friendly.

The room needs some approuvements,especially the bathroom.The air conditioner is not very efficient

The one dinner we had at the restaurant was not so good. My steak was tough and could not chew. But breakfast buffet was fabulous.

Great location fronting Copacabana Beach near the Copacabana Palace. Very helpful staff, comfortable rooms with balconies, and great breakfast buffet. Staff was very helpful with parking which offset the lack of a parking garage at the hotel.

Hotel has no parking on site. Parking on the street nearby is possible or at a pay garage. Costs in Rio are very high and can be a budget buster for many families.

The location of this hotel is quite good. The Floor to ceiling windows of the rooms are nice, and creates an open, airy feel to the rooms.

It's definitely not a five star hotel. They didn't clean the bathroom properly nor did they tidy up the room. On the second night of our stay, there was a big cockroach in our bathroom, and which shows the poor level of sanitation. They didn't refill the tea and coffee supply of the room and did not replace clean coffee cups. we had to ring the room service each time. The coffee machine in the room was broken, and created a pool of water as we tried to use it. After we informed the hotel, they sent someone to take it away without bringing a new one. And we had to follow up and ask for it the next day! The quality of the mattress was poor, and we both got back pain.

Very nice, clean and sophisticated hotel!! The only one with coffee and tea facilities in the room in my all trip in South America!! A bonus!! I stayed at the Porto Bay just last week. Great location, right across from Copacabana beach. Can see the beach from the room balcony. Front desk staff was great, especially Alan - very friendly, makes great recommendations of places to eat and good bars to visit in Rio. Maria, the evening bartender in the lobby bar, is very nice and makes really good drinks. The pool area on the top floor of the hotel is nice in the sense, you get great views of the coast, and can also see Cristo the Redeemer from afar. The pool itself is really small and not for a swim, more for dipping. No jacuzzi, but they have a sauna and pool bar. Nice thing is pool is open 24 hrs.

For the price per night, at least per U.S. standards, this place was overpriced and outdated. I would rate this as a 3-star hotel, and will not stay here again. The room furnishings were outdated, the bathroom "sterile" looking with an outdate tub and tiny, the room appliances were outdate and dusty. It was clear the hotel is not managed properly. Apart from our bathroom having only hot water in the bathroom sink (which I'm sure was a one-off situation) since we traveled with a bunch of friends and their bathrooms worked fine; but nonetheless, for $500 some bucks a night, this hotel is extremely overrated (I have no idea why) and I would not recommend staying here. We visited Rio twice and stayed at the Marriott the first time, which is just down the road, and although still expensive for a Marriott, I would recommend that over Porto Bay - better furnishings, slightly better location on the beach, much better lobby, better breakfast.

The service, kind and knowledgeable staff, the views, nice clean room, huge bed. Great rooftop view with a bar.

I stayed in teh marriott in Rio the weekend before and Porto Bay was far superior. On my last day i had a late flight, the pool was closed. the team in reception gave me a room to shower before my trip with no thinking. Really good gesture.

I loved everything about the hotel. We were upgraded to a suite, it was amazing!

Staff and location were wonderful. New Year's eve dinner celebration was way too expensive, however you were able to enjoy the roof top deck atmosphere for no additional charge.

Great location on the beach front of Rio’s Copacabana; amazing views from the pool on the 20th floor with very friendly bar staff, though limited sun parasols. Judging by the size of the pool the hotel’s main customers stay for business purposes not leisure. We paid extra for a room with a balcony, well worth the extra cost and it offered amazing views, room was comfortable and iPod doc was a nice touch.

The hotel felt a bit old, it was perfectly clean but you sense that its best years are behind it. Although a beach service (parasol, lounge beds and security) is provided however the beach is crowded and with a single hotel employee helping out you don’t have full confidence in leaving your possessions and venturing to the pool, hence we asked some other hotel guests to look after our bag!

They put on a great New Years Eve party! I had a great room and great view of the Fireworks! Excellent breakfast buffet!

The staff spoke excellent English and were most congenial.

We received an unexpected "surprise" half way through our 5 night stay. We were asked to immediately partially pay for our account due to what they termed as the "high tab". We had not accrued any unusual charges--only room and internet charges, all which were predicable at check-in. While we did comply, we complained about this practice to the manager. To her credit, she did graciously offer us complimentary access to their Christmas Eve buffet as consideration.

The Breakfast was excellent, the staff was very friendly, excellent service, view from the balcony, the nearby Italian cafe.

The staff were absolutely amazing. On arrival I had welcome champagne and check in was smooth and efficient. The hotel was amazing. Comfortable rooms with excellent views. The pool was smaller than what it looks like on the website however with the beach directly across the road, it did not matter at all. Highly recommended.

The pool was closed on our last two days and we were only informed of this the day before. However the hotel agreed to waive our wifi charges for the inconvenience

My wife and I really enjoyed our time in Rio de Janeiro thanks to the staff at Porto Bay Rio. They were very friendly and quite helpful. They gave excellent suggestions for restaurants, shopping, and tours.

The bathrooms were very small and they did not have washcloths.

The location was very convenient for sightseeing. The staff were helpful and in general it was a clean and comfortable hotel. The buffet breakfast was very good. The free daily newspaper and the inroom coffee facilities were appreciated.

There were no menus displayed for the restaurant and it was difficult to discover prices in general. It would have been appreciated to have had creamer/milk included in the in room facilities.

The location of the Porto Rio is superb, right on Copacabana Beach, one block from Copacabana Palace Hotel. The 20th floor has an adequate splash pool and spectacular views of the beach and surrounding mountains. The breakfast is fantastic., Huge selection of fruits, pastries , and hot dishes and the view is wonderful. Friendly staff.

The bedrooms are bit sparse, the mattress was not comfortable, very soft and squeaky , and the sound proofing could be bit better. Take ear plugs if you light sleeper, as the beach road is busy. The bathrooms need huge update, very dated and only shower available, However for the price and location, it was still worth the slight discomfort.
