- the location - the little garden - the space in the room - the staff
- the breakfast (fruit juice, bread, butter and ham weren't good)
The island is stunning and Pousadda D'Pillel was just as lovely. It's extremely peaceful here, its about a 2 minute walk from the centre of the town and there is barely any noise. Its extremely clean and comfortable, the room comes with a fan and there is a hammock to relax in on the balcony. The balcony overlooks the breakfast area which is something special, hammocks and little areas to relax in are scattered around and the breakfasts are excellent value for money. Wifi coverage is excellent although it is sometimes difficult to get it in the actual rooms. I would definitely go back, the staff were extremely helpful, spoke good English and in my opinion the place was beautiful. Snorkel equipment is available from the hotel for guests at no charge.
Struggled to get wifi in the bedrooms Hot showers were warm but no hot Bathroom is a little bit small.
Very good breakfast. Nice staff, snorkel equipment and raincoat available to the guests. Very clean rooms.
The bathroom is a little bit small.
The hosts were very friendly and helpful. They provide snorkeling equipment to guests so that we avoid rental fees on the beach, which was great. The breakfast was delicious and plentiful. The outdoor breakfast area was lovely. Having a small fridge in the room was very useful.
The room was a bit small and could have benefitted from more sunlight. Clothes and towels would not dry because of dampness.
Very helpful staff. Quiet room. Amazing breakfast.
No mosquito screens on yhe windows.
The hotel is in a great location, I liked the view from our balcony looked out on the garden and mountains. the breakfast was lovely.
Rooms a little bit small and nowhere to hang clothes.
A bit claustrophobic. Rather expensive for its level.
The pousada is in a quiet street, but very near to the peer, restaurants etc. The rooms in the 2nd floor have very nice views of the jungle. The owners are nice. The rooms have DVD players, and there is a big collection of films from which you can choose (unfortunately, we were not able to use this service, as there was a blackout during the 2 days we stayed in the island. Apparently, it happens often when there are big rains)
The first night we slept in a room in the basement which was really not worth the 80 euros we paid for it. It was very humid, had poor light, the walls had dead mosquitos on them (ok, the stain will stay, but at least remove the bodies!), the floor had plenty of dust and sand (this was also true in the upper floor)... I would only recommend the pousada if it is in one of the upper floors. And one last advice: bring mosquito repellent!!
the place is excelent
Lack of light and mosquitoes bad smell
Good location. Staff very nice and helpful. The pousada is quiet at night, bedrooms are clean and comfortable.
We booked our trip to the island on short notice so accommodation was limited. First impression was great location and the owner was very friendly and welcoming. The room However was a disgrace, dark and dingy (light not working in the hall) the bathroom was not clean filthy shower mat and somebody else's used toilet paper in the bin. The shower and sink had one tap on and off so no temperature control and We dreaded shower times with the hanging wires in the cubicle. The room had a double bed and bunk beds it smelt stale. There is a fan instead of air con and it was so noisy we struggled to sleep and it constantly fell forward off the wall. The walls were covered (I counted 15) with squashed and blooded Mosquitos. We unfortunately had booked to stay for 2 evenings and on return to our room after the first day the room was not made up, no clean towels and the sanitary waste bin still not emptied, apparently this is normal when we brought it to their attention. If the island was not sold out we would not of stayed there at all. The final straw was getting the owner out of bed to check out. We enjoyed the island but after travelling around Brasil this was definitely the worst we stayed in, for the price charged a higher standard is expected.
The staff is super friendly and helpful. The outside breakfast area is beautifully surrounded by green.
Room is a bit small but it has a nice balcony with a hammock!
Pillel and his employees were really nice and welcoming. we were given very good informations. The place is nice and clean. We liked the breakfast. We almost felt like home, thanks PIllel !
Staff were very friendly. The room was comfortable with a nice balcony with hammock. Breakfast was nice. Enjoyed the free snorkel rental and location.
One of the staff asked us to pay the night before checking out, and also requested that we pay half of the total in cash, which we refused. He also did not have a receipt ready for us and asked me to pull up the reservation on my phone in order to view the total charges.
Friendly helpful staff. Great atmosphere
Room a bit small
This was our favourite place out of the dozen or so we stayed in during our month in Brazil. Our room - with two balconies, a hammock and a private bathroom with a hot shower - was immaculately clean and comfortable. Breakfast was delicious, you could borrow DVDs to watch in your room and also flippers and masks for snorkling. The location was amazing, two streets back from the main drag so it was convienient but quiet and the view from our back balcony was of jungle and mountains rather than another pousada. Best of all were the staff and management who were super frienldy and helpful. We stayed for 6 nights and were very sad to leave.
We really liked Pousada d’Pillel. It was very clean, the staff was always helpful, the breakfast was tasty with fresh fruits and the garden was lovely. We highly recommend it.
Fabulous staff, who managed to accommodate us at very short notice. Roger one of the managers is especially attentive to all travellers and will happily show you the many attractions and tips of the island. Rooms with a hammock and they provide many activities should it rain such as a games room and tv area. Plus each room has DVDs and a library. The Balinese style set up really makes this place something special! I truly think this hotel managed to make our stay on Ilha Grande that bit more special!
